1 Chroniques 23
1 David était vieux et rassasié de jours, et il établit Salomon, son fils, roi d'Israël.
So when Dauid was olde and full of dayes, he made Salomon his sonne King ouer Israel.
2 Il rassembla tous les chefs d'Israël, avec les sacrificateurs et les Lévites.
And hee gathered together all the princes of Israel with the Priestes and the Leuites.
3 Les Lévites furent comptés depuis l'âge de trente ans et au-dessus, et leur nombre, par tête, fut de trente-huit mille.
And the Leuites were numbred from ye age of thirtie yeere and aboue, and their nomber according to their summe was eight and thirtie thousand men.
4 David dit: « Parmi eux, vingt-quatre mille étaient chargés de surveiller les travaux de la maison de Yahvé, six mille étaient officiers et juges,
Of these foure and twentie thousande were set to aduance the worke of the house of the Lord, and sixe thousand were ouerseers and iudges.
5 quatre mille étaient portiers, et quatre mille louaient Yahvé avec les instruments que j'avais fabriqués pour le louer. »
And foure thousand were porters, and foure thousande praised the Lord with instruments which he made to praise the Lord.
6 David les répartit en divisions selon les fils de Lévi: Guershon, Kehath et Merari.
So Dauid deuided offices vnto them, to wit, to the sonnes of Leui, to Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 Des Gershonites: Ladan et Shimei.
Of the Gershonites were Laadan and Shimei.
8 Fils de Ladan: Jehiel, le chef, Zetham et Joël, trois.
The sonnes of Laadan, the chiefe was Iehiel, and Zetham and Ioel, three.
9 Fils de Schimeï: Schelomoth, Hatsiel et Haran, trois. Ce sont les chefs de famille de Ladan.
The Sonnes of Shimei, Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haram, three: these were the chiefe fathers of Laadan.
10 Fils de Schimeï: Jahath, Zina, Jeush et Beriah. Ces quatre-là étaient les fils de Schimeï.
Also the sonnes of Shimei were Iahath, Zina, Ieush, and Beriah: these foure were ye sonnes of Shimei.
11 Jahath était le chef, et Zina le second; mais Jeush et Beriah n'avaient pas beaucoup de fils; c'est pourquoi ils formaient une maison de pères en un seul compte.
And Iahath was the chiefe, and Zizah the seconde, but Ieush and Beriah had not many sonnes: therfore they were in the families of their father, counted but as one.
12 Fils de Kehath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron et Uzziel, quatre.
The sonnes of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron aud Vzziel, foure.
13 Fils d'Amram: Aaron et Moïse. Aaron fut séparé pour sanctifier les choses très saintes, lui et ses fils à jamais, pour offrir des parfums devant l'Éternel, pour le servir et pour bénir en son nom à jamais.
The sonnes of Amram, Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated to sanctifie the most holy place, hee and his sonnes for euer to burne incense before the Lord, to minister to him, and to blesse in his Name for euer.
14 Quant à Moïse, homme de Dieu, ses fils furent désignés dans la tribu de Lévi.
Moses also the man of God, and his children were named with the tribe of Leui.
15 Fils de Moïse: Gershom et Eliezer.
The sonnes of Moses were Gershom, and Eliezer,
16 Fils de Guershom: Shebuel, le chef.
Of the sonnes of Gershom was Shebuel the chiefe.
17 Fils d'Éliézer: Rehabia, le chef. Éliézer n'eut pas d'autres fils, mais les fils de Rehabia furent très nombreux.
And the sonne of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chiefe: for Eliezer had none other sonnes: but the sonnes of Rehabiah were very many.
18 Fils de Jitsehar: Shelomith, le chef.
The sone of Izhar was Shelomith ye chiefe.
19 Fils de Hébron: Jeriah, le chef, Amaria, le second, Jahaziel, le troisième, et Jekameam, le quatrième.
The sonnes of Hebron were Ieriah the first, Amariah the second, Iahaziel the third, and Iekamiam the fourth.
20 Fils d'Uzziel: Michée, le chef, et Ischia, le second.
The sones of Vzziel were Michah the first, and Isshiah the second.
21 Fils de Merari: Mahli et Mushi. Les fils de Mahli: Éléazar et Kish.
The sonnes of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The sonnes of Mahli, Eleazar and Kish.
22 Éléazar mourut et n'eut pas de fils, mais seulement des filles; leurs parents, les fils de Kis, les prirent pour femmes.
And Eleazar dyed, and had no sonnes, but daughters, and their brethren the sonnes of Kish tooke them.
23 Fils de Muschi: Mahli, Eder et Jérémoth, au nombre de trois.
The sonnes of Mushi were Mahli, and Eder, and Ierimoth, three.
24 Ce sont là les fils de Lévi, selon leurs maisons de pères, les chefs de maisons de pères de ceux qui furent comptés individuellement, au nombre des noms selon les sondages, qui faisaient le service de la maison de l'Éternel, depuis l'âge de vingt ans et au-dessus.
These were the sonnes of Leui according to the house of their fathers, euen the chiefe fathers according to their offices, according to the nomber of names and their summe that did the worke for the seruice of the house of the Lord from the age of twentie yeeres and aboue.
25 Car David avait dit: « L'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, a donné du repos à son peuple, et il habite à Jérusalem pour toujours.
For Dauid sayde, The Lord God of Israel hath giuen rest vnto his people, that they may dwell in Ierusalem for euer.
26 Aussi les Lévites n'auront plus besoin de porter le tabernacle et tous ses ustensiles pour son service. »
And also the Leuites shall no more beare the Tabernacle and al the vessels for the seruice thereof.
27 En effet, selon les dernières paroles de David, les fils de Lévi ont été comptés, à partir de vingt ans et plus.
Therefore according to the last wordes of Dauid, the Leuites were nombred from twentie yeere and aboue,
28 Car ils étaient chargés de servir les fils d'Aaron pour le service de la maison de Yahvé, dans les parvis, dans les chambres, pour la purification de toutes les choses saintes, pour le service de la maison de Dieu,
And their office was vnder the hand of the sonnes of Aaron, for the seruice of the house of the Lord in the courtes, and chambers, and in the purifiyng of all holy thinges, and in the worke of the seruice of the house of God,
29 pour les pains de proposition et pour la farine fine destinée à l'offrande, qu'il s'agisse de galettes sans levain, de galettes cuites au four ou de galettes trempées, et pour toutes les mesures de quantité et de taille;
Both for the shewbread, and for the fine floure, for the meate offring, and for the vnleauened cakes, and for the fryed things, and for that which was rosted, and for all measures and cise,
30 Ils se tiendront debout tous les matins pour remercier et louer Yahvé, ainsi que le soir;
And for to stand euery morning, to giue thanks and praise to the Lord, and likewise at euen,
31 ils offriront à Yahvé tous les holocaustes aux sabbats, aux nouvelles lunes et aux fêtes, en nombre suffisant, selon les règles qui leur sont prescrites, en permanence devant Yahvé;
And to offer all burnt offrings vnto the Lord, in the Sabbaths, in the moneths, and at the appointed times, according to the nomber and according to their custome continually before the Lord,
32 ils s'acquitteront des fonctions de la tente d'assignation, des fonctions du lieu saint et des fonctions des fils d'Aaron, leurs frères, pour le service de la maison de Yahvé.
And that they should keepe the charge of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and the charge of ye holy place, and the charge of ye sonnes of Aaron their brethren in the seruice of ye house of the Lord.
