Psalmien 90
1 Mooseksen, Jumalan miehen, rukous. Herra, sinä olet meidän turvamme polvesta polveen.
“BOOK IV. A prayer of Moses, the man of God.” LORD! thou hast been our dwelling-place In all generations!
2 Ennenkuin vuoret syntyivät ja sinä loit maan ja maanpiirin, iankaikkisesta iankaikkiseen olet sinä, Jumala.
Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting thou art God!
3 Sinä palautat ihmiset takaisin tomuun ja sanot: "Palatkaa jälleen, te ihmisten lapset".
But man thou turnest again to dust, And sayst, “Return, ye children of men!”
4 Sillä tuhat vuotta on sinun silmissäsi niinkuin eilinen päivä, joka meni ohitse, ja niinkuin öinen vartiohetki.
For a thousand years are, in thy sight, As yesterday when it is past, And as a watch in the night.
5 Sinä huuhdot heidät pois; he ovat kuin uni, ovat kuin ruoho, joka aamulla kukoistaa:
Thou carriest him away as with a flood; He is a dream; In the morning he springeth up like grass,

Which flourisheth and shooteth up in the morning, And in the evening is cut down, and withered.
7 Sillä me hukumme sinun vihasi voimasta, ja sinun kiivastuksesi voimasta me häviämme pois.
For we are consumed by thine anger, And by thy wrath are we destroyed.
8 Meidän pahat tekomme sinä asetat eteesi, salaiset syntimme kasvojesi valkeuteen.
Thou settest our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.
9 Niin kaikki meidän päivämme kuluvat sinun vihasi alla, vuotemme päättyvät meiltä kuin huokaus.
By reason of thine anger all our days vanish away; We spend our years like a thought.
10 Meidän elinpäivämme ovat seitsemänkymmentä vuotta taikka enintään kahdeksankymmentä vuotta; ja parhaimmillaankin ne ovat vaiva ja turhuus, sillä ne kiitävät ohitse, niinkuin me lentäisimme pois.
The days of our life are threescore years and ten, And, by reason of strength, may be fourscore years: Yet is the pride of them weariness and sorrow; For it vanisheth swiftly, and we fly away.
11 Kuka ajattelee sinun vihasi ankaruutta, sinun kiivauttasi, niin että hän sinua pelkäisi?
Yet who attendeth to the power of thine anger? Who with due reverence regardeth thine indignation?
12 Opeta meitä laskemaan päivämme oikein, että me saisimme viisaan sydämen.
Teach us so to number our days, That we may apply our hearts to wisdom!
13 Herra, palaja jälleen. Voi, kuinka kauan? Armahda palvelijoitasi.
Desist, O LORD! How long—? Have compassion upon thy servants!
14 Ravitse aamulla meitä armollasi, suo meille iloa ja riemua kaikkina päivinämme.
Satisfy us speedily with thy mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
15 Suo meidän iloita yhtä monta päivää, kuin olet nöyryyttänyt meitä, yhtä monta vuotta, kuin olemme kovaa kokeneet.
Make us glad according to the time in which thou hast afflicted us; According to the years in which we have seen adversity!
16 Saakoot palvelijasi nähdä sinun tekosi ja heidän lapsensa sinun kunniasi.
Let thy deeds be known to thy servants, And thy glory to their children!
17 Ja tulkoon osaksemme Herran, meidän Jumalamme, laupeus. Suo menestyä meille kättemme työn; niin, suo menestyä meidän kättemme työn.
Let the favor of the LORD our God be upon us, And establish for us the work of our hands; Yea, the work of our hands, establish thou it!
