Psalmien 89
1 Esrahilaisen Eetanin mietevirsi. Minä laulan Herran armoteoista lakkaamatta, julistan suullani sinun uskollisuuttasi polvesta polveen.
“A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrachite.” The kindnesses of the Lord will I for ever sing: from generation to generation will I make known thy faithfulness with my mouth.
2 Minä sanon: ikiajoiksi on armo rakennettu, sinä olet perustanut uskollisuutesi taivaisiin. -
For I have said, To eternity will kindness be built up: the heavens—yea, in these wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.
3 "Minä olen tehnyt liiton valittuni kanssa, olen palvelijalleni Daavidille vannonut:
“I have made a covenant with my elect, I have sworn unto David my servant,
4 'Minä vahvistan sinun jälkeläisesi ikiajoiksi ja rakennan sinulle valtaistuimen polvesta polveen'". (Sela)
Unto eternity will I establish thy seed, and I will build up thy throne, from generation to generation.” (Selah)
5 Ja taivaat ylistävät sinun ihmeitäsi, Herra, ja pyhäin seurakunta sinun uskollisuuttasi.
And the heavens praise thy wonder, O Lord: also thy faithfulness in the assembly of holy ones.
6 Sillä kuka pilvissä on Herran vertainen, kuka Jumalan poikain joukossa on niinkuin Herra?
For who in the sky can be compared unto the Lord? who can be likened unto the Lord among the sons of the mighty?
7 Hän on Jumala, ylen hirmuinen pyhien kokouksessa, peljättävämpi kaikkia, jotka hänen ympärillänsä ovat.
God is greatly terrific in the secret council of the holy ones and fear-inspiring over all that are about him.
8 Herra, Jumala Sebaot, kuka on voimassa sinun vertaisesi, Herra? Ja sinun uskollisuutesi ympäröitsee sinua.
O Lord God of hosts, who is powerful, like thee, Eternal! and thy faithfulness is round about thee.
9 Sinä hallitset meren raivon; kun sen aallot kohoavat, sinä ne asetat.
Thou rulest over the pride of the sea: when its waves are lifted up, thou assuagest them.
10 Sinä ruhjoit Rahabin kuin sodassa kaatuneen; väkevällä käsivarrellasi sinä ajoit vihollisesi hajalle.
Thou didst crush Rahab as one that is slain: with thy strong arm didst thou scatter thy enemies.
11 Sinun ovat taivaat, sinun on myös maa; maanpiirin täysinensä sinä olet perustanut.
Thine are the heavens, also thine is the earth: as for the world and what filleth it, thou hast founded them.
12 Sinä loit pohjoisen ja etelän; sinun nimestäsi riemuitsevat Taabor ja Hermon.
The north and the south—these hast thou created: Tabor and Chermon shall rejoice in thy name.
13 Sinulla on käsivarsi voimaa täynnä, väkevä on sinun kätesi, korotettu sinun oikea kätesi.
Thine is the powerful arm, with might: strong is thy hand, and exalted is thy right hand.
14 Vanhurskaus ja oikeus on sinun valtaistuimesi perustus, armo ja totuus käy sinun kasvojesi edellä.
Righteousness and justice are the prop of thy throne: kindness and truth precede thy presence.
15 Autuas se kansa, joka tuntee juhlariemun, ne, jotka vaeltavat sinun kasvojesi valkeudessa, Herra!
Happy is the people that know the cornet's sound: O Lord, in the light of thy countenance will they ever walk firmly.
16 He riemuitsevat sinun nimestäsi kaikkina päivinänsä, ja sinun vanhurskautesi voimasta heidät korotetaan.
In thy name will they be glad all the day, and in thy righteousness will they be exalted.
17 Sillä sinä olet heidän väkevyytensä, heidän kaunistuksensa, ja sinä armossasi kohotat meidän sarvemme.
For thou art the glory of their strength; and through thy favor will our horn be exalted.
18 Sillä meidän kilpemme on Herran huomassa, meidän kuninkaamme on Israelin Pyhän huomassa.
For of the Lord is our shield; and of the Holy One of Israel is our king.
19 Silloin sinä näyssä puhuit hurskaillesi ja sanoit: "Minä olen pannut avun sankarin käteen, olen kansan keskeltä korottanut valittuni:
Then spokest thou in a vision to thy pious [servant], and saidst, “I have bestowed help to one that is mighty; I have exalted a youth out of the people;
20 minä olen löytänyt Daavidin, palvelijani, olen voidellut hänet pyhällä öljylläni.
I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him;
21 Minun käteni on lujasti tukeva häntä, minun käsivarteni on häntä vahvistava.
With whom my hand shall be firmly established; also my arm shall strengthen him;
22 Ei vihollinen yllätä häntä, eikä vääryyden mies häntä sorra;
The enemy shall not exact from him like a lender: and the son of injustice shall not afflict him:
23 vaan minä hävitän hänen ahdistajansa hänen edestänsä ja lyön hänen vihamiehensä maahan.
And I will beat down before his face his assailants, and those that hate him will I plague.
24 Minun uskollisuuteni ja armoni on hänen kanssansa, ja minun nimessäni kohoaa hänen sarvensa.
But my faithfulness and my kindness shall be with him: and through my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 Minä asetan hänen kätensä vallitsemaan merta ja virtoja hänen oikean kätensä.
And I will place on the sea his hand, and on the rivers his right hand.
26 Hän kutsuu minua: 'Sinä olet minun isäni, sinä minun Jumalani ja pelastukseni kallio'.
He will call unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27 Ja minä asetan hänet esikoiseksi, maan kuninkaista korkeimmaksi.
Also I will appoint my first-born, the highest among the kings of the earth.
28 Minä säilytän armoni hänelle iankaikkisesti, ja minun liittoni hänen kanssaan on luja.
For evermore will I keep for him my kindness, and my covenant shall stand faithfully with him.
29 Minä annan hänen jälkeläistensä säilyä iäti ja hänen valtaistuimensa niin kauan, kuin taivaat pysyvät.
And I appoint for ever his seed, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 Jos hänen poikansa hylkäävät minun lakini eivätkä vaella minun oikeuksieni mukaan,
If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my ordinances;
31 jos he minun säädökseni rikkovat eivätkä noudata minun käskyjäni,
If they profane my statutes, and keep not my commandments:
32 niin minä rankaisen vitsalla heidän rikoksensa ja heidän pahat tekonsa vitsauksilla;
Then will I visit with the rod their transgressions, and with plagues their iniquity.
33 mutta armoani en minä ota häneltä pois enkä vilpistele uskollisuudestani.
Nevertheless my kindness will I not make utterly void from him, and I will not act falsely against my faithfulness.
34 En minä liittoani riko, enkä muuta sitä, mikä on minun huuliltani lähtenyt.
I will not profane my covenant, and what is gone out of my lips will I not alter.
35 Minä olen kerran vannonut pyhyyteni kautta, ja totisesti, minä en Daavidille valhettele:
One thing have I sworn by my holiness, that I will not lie unto David.
36 'Hänen jälkeläisensä pysyvät iankaikkisesti, ja hänen valtaistuimensa on minun edessäni niinkuin aurinko,
His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne shall be like the sun before me.
37 se pysyy lujana iankaikkisesti niinkuin kuu. Ja todistaja pilvissä on uskollinen'." (Sela)
Like the moon shall it be firmly established for ever, and as this faithful witness in the sky.” (Selah)
38 Ja kuitenkin sinä hylkäsit voideltusi ja pidit häntä halpana ja olet vihastunut häneen.
And yet thou hast east off and despised, thou hast become wroth with thy anointed.
39 Sinä olet purkanut palvelijasi liiton, olet häväissyt hänen kruununsa, olet heittänyt sen maahan.
Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned, down to the ground, his crown.
40 Sinä olet särkenyt kaikki hänen muurinsa, olet pannut raunioiksi hänen linnoituksensa.
Thou hast broken down all his fences: thou hast brought his strong-holds to terror.
41 Kaikki tien kulkijat ovat häntä ryöstäneet, hän on joutunut naapuriensa häväistäväksi.
All that pass by the way plunder him: he is become a reproach to his neighbors.
42 Sinä olet korottanut hänen vihollistensa oikean käden, olet tuottanut ilon kaikille hänen vihamiehillensä.
Thou hast raised up the right hand of his assailants: thou hast caused all his enemies to rejoice.
43 Sinä olet kääntänyt takaisin hänen miekkansa terän etkä ole sodassa pitänyt häntä pystyssä.
Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not let him stand erect in the battle.
44 Sinä olet tehnyt hänen loistostansa lopun ja olet syössyt maahan hänen valtaistuimensa.
Thou hast made his brilliancy cease; and his throne hast thou thrown down to the ground.
45 Sinä olet lyhentänyt hänen nuoruutensa päivät, olet hänet häpeällä peittänyt. (Sela)
Thou hast shortened the days of his youth: thou hast enshrouded him with shame. (Selah)
46 Kuinka kauan sinä, Herra, itsesi yhäti kätket? Kuinka kauan sinun vihasi tulena palaa?
How long, Lord, wilt thou hide thyself, continually? how long shall thy fury burn like fire?
47 Muista, kuinka lyhyt minun elämäni on, kuinka katoavaisiksi sinä olet luonut kaikki ihmislapset.
Remember [what] I am, what my duration is [here], for what nothingness thou hast created all sons of men!
48 Kuka on se mies, joka jää eloon eikä kuoloa näe, joka pelastaa sielunsa tuonelan kädestä? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
What man is there that can live, and shall not see death? that can deliver his soul from the power of the nether word? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Herra, missä ovat sinun entiset armotekosi, jotka sinä uskollisuudessasi vannoit Daavidille?
Where are thy former kindnesses, O Lord, which thou hast sworn unto David by thy truth?
50 Ajattele, Herra, palvelijaisi häpäisyä ja mitä minun kaikilta noilta monilta kansoilta täytyy povessani kestää,
Remember, Lord, the disgrace of thy servants; that I bear in my bosom the [burden] of all the many nations;
51 kun, Herra, sinun vihollisesi herjaavat, herjaavat sinun voideltusi askeleita.
That thy enemies have defied, O Lord; that they have defied the footsteps of thy anointed.
52 Kiitetty olkoon Herra iankaikkisesti. Amen, amen.
Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
