Psalmien 107
1 Kiittäkää Herraa, sillä hän on hyvä, sillä hänen armonsa pysyy iankaikkisesti.
O give thanks to the LORD, for [he is] good; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
2 Niin sanokoot Herran lunastetut, jotka hän on lunastanut ahdistuksen alta
Let the redeemed of the LORD say [so], whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 ja koonnut pakanamaista, idästä ja lännestä, pohjoisesta ja meren puolelta.
And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4 He harhailivat erämaassa, autiossa, tiettömässä maassa, löytämättä asuttua kaupunkia.
They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
5 Heidän oli nälkä ja jano, heidän sielunsa nääntyi heissä.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Mutta hädässänsä he huusivat Herraa, ja hän pelasti heidät heidän ahdistuksistaan.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, [and] he delivered them out of their distresses.
7 Ja hän ohjasi heidät oikealle tielle, niin että he pääsivät asuttuun kaupunkiin.
And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Kiittäkööt he Herraa hänen armostansa, hänen ihmeellisistä teoistaan ihmislapsia kohtaan.
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 Sillä hän ravitsee nääntyvän sielun ja täyttää nälkäisen sielun hyvyydellä.
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
10 He istuivat pimeydessä ja synkeydessä, vangittuina kurjuuteen ja rautoihin,
Such as sit in darkness and in the shades of death, [being] bound in affliction and iron;
11 koska olivat niskoitelleet Jumalan käskyjä vastaan ja katsoneet halvaksi Korkeimman neuvon.
Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High:
12 Hän masensi heidän sydämensä kärsimyksellä; he sortuivat, eikä ollut auttajaa.
Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and [there was] none to help.
13 Mutta hädässänsä he huusivat Herraa, ja hän pelasti heidät heidän ahdistuksistaan.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, [and] he saved them out of their distresses.
14 Hän vei heidät ulos pimeydestä ja synkeydestä, hän katkaisi heidän kahleensa.
He brought them out of darkness and the shades of death, and broke their bands asunder.
15 Kiittäkööt he Herraa hänen armostansa ja hänen ihmeellisistä teoistaan ihmislapsia kohtaan.
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 Sillä hän särkee vaskiset ovet ja rikkoo rautaiset salvat.
For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron asunder.
17 He olivat hulluja, sillä heidän vaelluksensa oli syntinen, ja he kärsivät vaivaa pahojen tekojensa tähden.
Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
18 Heidän sielunsa inhosi kaikkea ruokaa, ja he olivat lähellä kuoleman portteja.
Their soul abhorreth all manner of food; and they draw near to the gates of death.
19 Mutta hädässänsä he huusivat Herraa, ja hän pelasti heidät heidän ahdistuksistaan.
Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble, he saveth them out of their distresses.
20 Hän lähetti sanansa ja paransi heidät ja pelasti heidät haudasta.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered [them] from their destructions.
21 Kiittäkööt he Herraa hänen armostansa ja hänen ihmeellisistä teoistaan ihmislapsia kohtaan.
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
22 Uhratkoot kiitosuhreja ja kertokoot riemuiten hänen töitään.
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
23 He lähtivät laivoilla merelle ja kävivät kauppaa suurilla vesillä.
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business on great waters;
24 He näkivät Herran työt ja hänen ihmeelliset tekonsa meren syvyyksissä.
These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
25 Hän sanoi sanansa ja nosti myrskytuulen, joka kohotti korkealle sen aallot.
For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up its waves.
26 He kohosivat taivasta kohti, he vajosivat syvyyksiin; heidän sielunsa menehtyi tuskasta.
They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
27 He horjuivat ja hoippuivat kuin juopunut, ja kaikki heidän taitonsa hämmentyi.
They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end.
28 Mutta hädässänsä he huusivat Herraa, ja hän päästi heidät heidän ahdistuksistaan.
Then they cry to the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
29 Hän tyynnytti myrskyn, ja meren aallot hiljenivät.
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves [of the sea] are still.
30 He iloitsivat, kun tuli tyyni, ja hän vei heidät toivottuun satamaan.
Then are they glad because they are quiet; so he bringeth them to their desired haven.
31 Kiittäkööt he Herraa hänen armostansa ja hänen ihmeellisistä teoistaan ihmislapsia kohtaan.
Oh that [men] would praise the LORD [for] his goodness, and [for] his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Kunnioittakoot häntä kansan seurakunnassa ja vanhinten kokouksessa häntä ylistäkööt.
Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33 Hän muutti virrat erämaaksi ja vesilähteet kuivaksi maaksi,
He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the water-springs into dry ground;
34 hedelmällisen maan suola-aroksi, sen asukasten pahuuden tähden.
A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell in it.
35 Hän muutti erämaan vesilammikoiksi ja kuivan maan vesilähteiksi.
He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into water-springs.
36 Ja hän asetti nälkäiset sinne asumaan ja he rakensivat kaupungin asuaksensa.
And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;
37 Ja he kylvivät peltoja ja istuttivat viinitarhoja, jotka tuottivat satoisan hedelmän.
And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.
38 Hän siunasi heitä, ja he lisääntyivät suuresti, ja hän antoi heille paljon karjaa.
He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39 Ja kun he vähentyivät ja vaipuivat onnettomuuden ja huolten painon alla,
Again, they are diminished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.
40 niin hän, joka vuodattaa ylenkatsetta ruhtinasten päälle ja panee heidät harhailemaan tiettömissä autiomaissa,
He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, [where there is] no way.
41 hän kohotti köyhän kurjuudesta ja teki suvut suuriksi kuin lammaslaumat.
Yet he setteth the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.
42 Oikeamieliset näkevät sen ja riemuitsevat, ja kaiken vääryyden täytyy tukkia suunsa.
The righteous shall see [it], and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
43 Joka viisas on, se ottakoon näistä vaarin ja ajatelkoon Herran armotekoja.
Whoever [is] wise, and will observe these [things], even they shall understand the loving-kindness of the LORD.
