Psalmien 105
1 Kiittäkää Herraa, julistakaa hänen nimeänsä, tehkää hänen suuret tekonsa tiettäviksi kansojen keskuudessa.
O give thanks unto the Lord; call on his name: make known among the people his deeds.
2 Laulakaa hänelle, veisatkaa hänelle, puhukaa kaikista hänen ihmeistänsä.
Sing unto, him, sing praises unto him: speak of all his wonderful works.
3 Hänen pyhä nimensä olkoon teidän kerskauksenne; iloitkoon niiden sydän, jotka etsivät Herraa.
Glorify yourselves in his holy name: let the heart of those rejoice that seek the Lord.
4 Kysykää Herraa ja hänen voimaansa, etsikää alati hänen kasvojansa.
Inquire after the Lord and his strength: seek his presence evermore.
5 Muistakaa hänen ihmetöitänsä, jotka hän on tehnyt, hänen ihmeitänsä ja hänen suunsa tuomioita,
Remember his wonderful works which he hath done; his tokens, and the decrees of his mouth;
6 te Aabrahamin, hänen palvelijansa, siemen, Jaakobin lapset, te hänen valittunsa.
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob, his elect.
7 Hän, Herra, on meidän Jumalamme; hänen tuomionsa käyvät yli kaiken maan.
He is the Lord our God: over all the earth are his decrees.
8 Hän muistaa liittonsa iankaikkisesti, säätämänsä sanan hamaan tuhansiin polviin,
He remembereth his covenant for ever, the word which he hath commanded, to the thousandth generation.
9 liittonsa, jonka hän teki Aabrahamin kanssa, ja Iisakille vannomansa valan.
Which he covenanted with Abraham; and his oath unto Isaac;
10 Hän vahvisti sen käskyksi Jaakobille, Israelille iankaikkiseksi liitoksi.
And which he established unto Jacob as a statute, unto Israel as an everlasting covenant:
11 Hän sanoi: "Sinulle minä annan Kanaanin maan, se olkoon teidän perintöosanne".
Saying, “Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, as the portion of your inheritance.”
12 Heitä oli vähäinen joukko, vain harvoja, ja he olivat muukalaisia siellä.
When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it;
13 Ja he vaelsivat kansasta kansaan ja yhdestä valtakunnasta toiseen kansaan.
And when they wandered from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people:
14 Hän ei sallinut kenenkään heitä vahingoittaa, ja hän rankaisi kuninkaita heidän tähtensä:
He suffered no man to oppress them; yea, he reproved kings for their sake;
15 "Älkää koskeko minun voideltuihini, älkää tehkö pahaa minun profeetoilleni".
[Saying, ] “Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm,”—
16 Ja kun hän kutsui nälänhädän maahan ja kokonaan mursi leivän tuen,
And he called for a famine over the land; every staff of bread he broke.
17 oli hän lähettänyt heidän edellänsä miehen: Joosef oli myyty orjaksi.
He sent a man before them; for a servant was Joseph sold;
18 Hänen jalkojansa vaivattiin kahleilla, hän joutui rautoihin,
They forced into fetters his feet; in iron was his body put:
19 siksi kunnes hänen sanansa kävi toteen ja Herran puhe osoitti hänet puhtaaksi.
Until the time that his word came to pass, [when] the saying of the Lord had purified him.
20 Niin kuningas lähetti ja päästätti hänet, kansojen hallitsija laski hänet irti.
The king sent and unfettered him; the ruler of people, and let him go free.
21 Hän pani hänet talonsa herraksi ja kaiken omaisuutensa haltijaksi,
He appointed him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possession:
22 sitomaan mielensä mukaan hänen ruhtinaitansa ja opettamaan viisautta vanhimmille.
That he might bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his ancients wisdom.
23 Niin joutui Israel Egyptiin, Jaakob muukalaiseksi Haamin maahan.
Then came Israel into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 Ja Herra teki kansansa hyvin hedelmälliseksi ja väkevämmäksi heidän vihamiehiänsä.
And he increased his people greatly, and made them stronger than their adversaries.
25 Hän käänsi näitten sydämen vihaamaan hänen kansaansa, kavalasti kohtelemaan hänen palvelijoitaan.
He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilely with his servants.
26 Hän lähetti Mooseksen, palvelijansa, ja Aaronin, jonka hän oli valinnut.
He sent Moses his servant, Aaron also whom he had made choice of.
27 Nämä tekivät hänen tunnustekonsa heidän keskellään, tekivät ihmeitä Haamin maassa.
They displayed among them his effective signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.
28 Hän lähetti pimeyden ja pimensi kaiken, eivätkä he vastustaneet hänen sanojansa.
He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.
29 Hän muutti heidän vetensä vereksi ja kuoletti heiltä kalat.
He changed their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
30 Heidän maansa vilisi sammakoita aina kuningasten kammioita myöten.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the very chambers of their kings.
31 Hän käski, ja paarmoja tuli ja sääskiä koko heidän alueellensa.
He spoke, and there came various wild beasts, lice also within all their boundary.
32 Hän antoi heille rakeita sateen sijaan, tulen leimauksia heidän maahansa.
He gave them as their rain hail, and flames of fire in their land.
33 Ja hän hävitti heidän viini-ja viikunapuunsa ja murskasi puut heidän alueeltansa.
And he smote their vines and their fig-trees, and broke the trees within their boundary.
34 Hän käski, ja heinäsirkkoja tuli ja tuhosirkkoja lukematon joukko;
He spoke, and the locusts came, and crickets, and that without number;
35 ne söivät kaiken ruohon heidän maastansa, söivät hedelmän heidän vainioiltansa.
And they ate up all the herbs in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 Ja hän surmasi kaikki heidän maansa esikoiset, kaikki heidän miehuutensa ensimmäiset.
And he smote all the first-born in their land, the first of all their strength.
37 Sitten hän vei Israelin sieltä varustettuna hopealla ja kullalla, eikä ollut hänen sukukunnissaan kompastuvaista.
And he brought them forth with silver and gold: and there was not one that stumbled among his tribes.
38 Egypti iloitsi heidän lähdöstänsä, koska sen oli vallannut pelko heidän tähtensä.
Egypt rejoiced when they departed; for the dread of them was fallen upon them.
39 Hän levitti suojaksi pilven ja tulen valaisemaan yötä.
He spread out a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light in the night.
40 He pyysivät, ja hän pani tulemaan viiriäiset, ja hän ravitsi heitä taivaan leivällä.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and with heavenly bread he satisfied them.
41 Hän avasi kallion, ja vettä vuoti; se juoksi virtana kautta erämaan.
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out: they ran in the dry places like a river.
42 Sillä hän muisti pyhän sanansa, muisti Aabrahamia, palvelijaansa.
For he remembered his holy word given to Abraham his servant.
43 Niin hän vei kansansa pois sen iloitessa, valittunsa heidän riemuitessaan.
And he brought forth his people with gladness, with joyful song his elect.
44 Ja hän antoi heille pakanain maat, ja he ottivat omaksensa kansojen vaivannäöt,
And he gave them the lands of nations; and the labor of people they obtained as an inheritance:
45 että he noudattaisivat hänen käskyjänsä ja ottaisivat hänen laeistansa vaarin. Halleluja!
So that they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Hallelujah.
