Matteuksen 15
1 Silloin tuli fariseuksia ja kirjanoppineita Jerusalemista Jeesuksen luo, ja he sanoivat:
Then the scribes and Pharisees, who are from Jerusalem, come to Jesus, saying,
2 "Miksi sinun opetuslapsesi rikkovat vanhinten perinnäissääntöä? Sillä he eivät pese käsiään ruvetessaan aterialle."
Wherefore do thy disciples transgress the traditions of the elders? for they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.
3 Mutta hän vastasi ja sanoi heille: "Miksi te itse rikotte Jumalan käskyn perinnäissääntönne tähden?
And responding He said to them; Wherefore do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?
4 Sillä Jumala on sanonut: 'Kunnioita isääsi ja äitiäsi', ja: 'Joka kiroaa isäänsä tai äitiänsä, sen pitää kuolemalla kuoleman'.
For God commanded saying, Honor thy father and mother: and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die with death.
5 Mutta te sanotte: Joka sanoo isälleen tai äidilleen: 'Se, minkä sinä olisit ollut minulta saapa, on annettu uhrilahjaksi', sen ei tarvitse kunnioittaa isäänsä eikä äitiänsä.
But you say, Whosoever may say to father or mother, It is a gift, whatsoever you may be profited by me; and he shall no longer honor his father or his mother.
6 Ja niin te olette tehneet Jumalan sanan tyhjäksi perinnäissääntönne tähden.
You made void the commandment of God by your tradition.
7 Te ulkokullatut, oikein teistä Esaias ennusti, sanoen:
Ye hypocrites, beautifully did Isaiah prophesy concerning you, saying,
8 'Tämä kansa kunnioittaa minua huulillaan, mutta heidän sydämensä on minusta kaukana,
This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
9 mutta turhaan he palvelevat minua opettaen oppeja, jotka ovat ihmiskäskyjä'."
But in vain they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.
10 Ja hän kutsui kansan tykönsä ja sanoi heille: "Kuulkaa ja ymmärtäkää.
And calling the multitude to Him, He said to them, Hear and understand:
11 Ei saastuta ihmistä se, mikä menee suusta sisään; vaan mikä suusta käy ulos, se saastuttaa ihmisen."
That if which cometh into the mouth does not defile the man; but that which cometh out from the mouth, that defiles the man.
12 Silloin opetuslapset tulivat ja sanoivat hänelle: "Tiedätkö, että fariseukset loukkaantuivat kuullessaan tuon puheen?"
Then His disciples having come to Him say, Do you not know that the Pharisees hearing your word, were offended?
13 Mutta hän vastasi ja sanoi: "Jokainen istutus, jota minun taivaallinen Isäni ei ole istuttanut, on juurineen revittävä pois.
And He responding said, Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant, shall be rooted up.
14 Älkää heistä välittäkö: he ovat sokeita sokeain taluttajia; mutta jos sokea sokeaa taluttaa, niin he molemmat kuoppaan lankeavat."
Let them alone: the blind are leaders of the blind: if the blind may lead the blind, both will fall into the ditch.
15 Niin Pietari vastasi ja sanoi hänelle: "Selitä meille tämä vertaus".
Peter responding said to Him, Explain unto us the parable.
16 Mutta Jeesus sanoi: "Vieläkö tekin olette ymmärtämättömiä?
And Jesus said, Are you indeed still without understanding?
17 Ettekö käsitä, että kaikki, mikä käy suusta sisään, menee vatsaan ja ulostuu?
Do you know that everything entering into the mouth goes into the stomach, and is cast out into excrement?
18 Mutta mikä käy suusta ulos, se tulee sydämestä, ja se saastuttaa ihmisen.
But those things going out from the mouth come forth from the heart; and these pollute the man.
19 Sillä sydämestä lähtevät pahat ajatukset, murhat, aviorikokset, haureudet, varkaudet, väärät todistukset, jumalanpilkkaamiset.
For out of the heart proceed evil reasonings, murders, fornications, adulteries, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies.
20 Nämä ihmisen saastuttavat; mutta pesemättömin käsin syöminen ei saastuta ihmistä."
These are the things which defile the man: but to eat bread with unwashed hands does not defile the man.
21 Ja Jeesus lähti sieltä ja vetäytyi Tyyron ja Siidonin tienoille.
And Jesus having come out thence, departed into the regions of Tyre and Sidon.
22 Ja katso, kanaanilainen vaimo tuli niiltä seuduilta ja huusi sanoen: "Herra, Daavidin poika, armahda minua. Riivaaja vaivaa kauheasti minun tytärtäni."
And behold, a Canaanitish woman having come out from those coasts, cried unto Him saying, Have mercy on me, Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is terribly demonized.
23 Mutta hän ei vastannut hänelle sanaakaan. Niin hänen opetuslapsensa tulivat ja rukoilivat häntä sanoen: "Päästä hänet menemään, sillä hän huutaa meidän jälkeemme".
And He responded to her not a word; and His disciples, having come to Him, asked Him, saying, Send her away; because she cries after us.
24 Hän vastasi ja sanoi: "Minua ei ole lähetetty muitten kuin Israelin huoneen kadonneitten lammasten tykö".
And He responding said, I am not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Mutta vaimo tuli ja kumarsi häntä ja sanoi: "Herra, auta minua".
And having come she continued to worship Him, saying, Lord, assist me.
26 Mutta hän vastasi ja sanoi: "Ei ole soveliasta ottaa lasten leipää ja heittää penikoille".
He responding said, It is not good to take the children's bread and cast it to the little dogs.
27 Mutta vaimo sanoi: "Niin, Herra; mutta syöväthän penikatkin niitä muruja, jotka heidän herrainsa pöydältä putoavat".
And she said, Yea, Lord: for the little dogs eat of the crumbs falling from their master's table.
28 Silloin Jeesus vastasi ja sanoi hänelle: "Oi vaimo, suuri on sinun uskosi, tapahtukoon sinulle, niinkuin tahdot". Ja hänen tyttärensä oli siitä hetkestä terve.
Then Jesus responding said to her, O woman, great is thy faith; let it be done unto thee as thou dost wish. And her daughter was healed from that hour.
29 Ja Jeesus lähti sieltä ja tuli Galilean järven rannalle; ja hän nousi vuorelle ja istui sinne.
And Jesus having departed thence, came to the Sea of Galilee; and having gone up into the mountain, He was sitting there.
30 Ja hänen tykönsä tuli paljon kansaa, ja he toivat mukanaan rampoja, raajarikkoja, sokeita, mykkiä ja paljon muita, ja laskivat heidät hänen jalkojensa juureen; ja hän paransi heidät,
And many multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, the blind, the deaf, the maimed, and many others, and laid them down at the feet of Jesus; and He healed them:
31 niin että kansa ihmetteli nähdessään mykkäin puhuvan, raajarikkojen olevan terveitä, rampojen kävelevän ja sokeain näkevän; ja he ylistivät Israelin Jumalaa.
so that the multitudes were astonished, seeing the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking about, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Ja Jeesus kutsui opetuslapsensa tykönsä ja sanoi: "Minun käy sääliksi kansaa, sillä he ovat jo kolme päivää olleet minun tykönäni, eikä heillä ole mitään syötävää; enkä minä tahdo laskea heitä syömättä menemään, etteivät nääntyisi matkalla".
And Jesus calling His disciples to Him, said, I sympathize with the multitude, because already three days abide unto me, and they have nothing which they may eat; I do not wish to send them away fasting, lest they may faint on the road.
33 Niin opetuslapset sanoivat hänelle: "Mistä me saamme täällä erämaassa niin paljon leipää, että voimme ravita noin suuren kansanjoukon?"
And His disciples say to Him, Whence is there to us so much bread in the wilderness, as to feed so great a multitude?
34 Jeesus sanoi heille: "Montako leipää teillä on?" He sanoivat: "Seitsemän, ja muutamia kalasia".
And Jesus says to them; How much bread have ye? And they said, Seven loaves and a few fishes.
35 Niin hän käski kansan asettua maahan.
He having commanded the multitudes to sit down upon the ground,
36 Ja hän otti ne seitsemän leipää ja kalat, kiitti, mursi ja antoi opetuslapsillensa, ja opetuslapset antoivat kansalle.
He took the seven loaves and the fishes; having given thanks, He broke them, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 Ja kaikki söivät ja tulivat ravituiksi. Sitten he keräsivät jääneet palaset, seitsemän täyttä vasullista.
And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up the residue of fragments, seven baskets full.
38 Ja niitä, jotka aterioivat, oli neljätuhatta miestä, paitsi naisia ja lapsia.
And those eating were about tour thousand men, besides women and children.
39 Ja laskettuaan kansan tyköänsä hän astui venheeseen ja meni Magadanin alueelle.
And having sent away the multitudes, He went into a ship and came into the coasts of Magdala.
