Johanneksen 9
1 Ja ohi kulkiessaan hän näki miehen, joka syntymästään saakka oli ollut sokea.
And as [Jesus] passed by, he saw a man who was blind from [his] birth.
2 Ja hänen opetuslapsensa kysyivät häneltä sanoen: "Rabbi, kuka teki syntiä, tämäkö vai hänen vanhempansa, että hänen piti sokeana syntymän?"
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jeesus vastasi: "Ei tämä tehnyt syntiä eivätkä hänen vanhempansa, vaan Jumalan tekojen piti tuleman hänessä julki.
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 Niin kauan kuin päivä on, tulee meidän tehdä hänen tekojansa, joka on minut lähettänyt; tulee yö, jolloin ei kukaan voi työtä tehdä.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh when no man can work.
5 Niin kauan kuin minä maailmassa olen, olen minä maailman valkeus."
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 Tämän sanottuaan hän sylki maahan ja teki syljestä tahtaan ja siveli tahtaan hänen silmilleen
When he had thus spoken, he spit on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 ja sanoi hänelle: "Mene ja peseydy Siiloan lammikossa" -se on käännettynä: lähetetty. -Niin hän meni ja peseytyi ja palasi näkevänä.
And said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 Silloin naapurit ja ne, jotka ennen olivat nähneet hänet kerjääjänä, sanoivat: "Eikö tämä ole se, joka istui ja kerjäsi?"
The neighbors therefore, and they who before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 Toiset sanoivat: "Hän se on", toiset sanoivat: "Ei ole, vaan hän on hänen näköisensä". Hän itse sanoi: "Minä se olen".
Some said, This is he: others [said], He is like him: [but] he said, I am [he].
10 Niin he sanoivat hänelle: "Miten sinun silmäsi ovat auenneet?"
Therefore they said to him, How were thy eyes opened?
11 Hän vastasi: "Se mies, jota kutsutaan Jeesukseksi, teki tahtaan ja voiteli minun silmäni ja sanoi minulle: 'Mene ja peseydy Siiloan lammikossa'; niin minä menin ja peseydyin ja sain näköni".
He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus, made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 He sanoivat hänelle: "Missä hän on?" Hän vastasi: "En tiedä".
Then said they to him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 Niin he veivät hänet, joka ennen oli ollut sokea, fariseusten luo.
They brought to the Pharisees him that before was blind.
14 Ja se päivä, jona Jeesus teki tahtaan ja avasi hänen silmänsä, oli sapatti.
And it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 Niin myöskin fariseukset kysyivät häneltä, miten hän oli saanut näkönsä. Ja hän sanoi heille: "Hän siveli tahtaan minun silmilleni, ja minä peseydyin, ja nyt minä näen".
Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said to them, He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 Niin muutamat fariseuksista sanoivat: "Se mies ei ole Jumalasta, koska hän ei pidä sapattia". Toiset sanoivat: "Kuinka voi syntinen ihminen tehdä senkaltaisia tunnustekoja?" Ja he olivat keskenänsä eri mieltä.
Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 Niin he taas sanoivat sokealle: "Mitä sinä sanot hänestä, koskapa hän avasi sinun silmäsi?" Ja hän sanoi: "Hän on profeetta".
They say to the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thy eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 Mutta juutalaiset eivät uskoneet hänestä, että hän oli ollut sokea ja saanut näkönsä, ennenkuin kutsuivat sen näkönsä saaneen vanhemmat
But the Jews did not believe concerning him that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 ja kysyivät heiltä sanoen: "Onko tämä teidän poikanne, jonka sanotte sokeana syntyneen? Kuinka hän sitten nyt näkee?"
And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 Hänen vanhempansa vastasivat ja sanoivat: "Me tiedämme, että tämä on meidän poikamme ja että hän on sokeana syntynyt;
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 mutta kuinka hän nyt näkee, emme tiedä; emme myöskään tiedä, kuka on avannut hänen silmänsä. Kysykää häneltä; hänellä on kyllin ikää, puhukoon itse puolestansa."
But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he will speak for himself.
22 Näin hänen vanhempansa sanoivat, koska pelkäsivät juutalaisia. Sillä juutalaiset olivat jo sopineet keskenään, että se, joka tunnusti hänet Kristukseksi, oli erotettava synagoogasta.
These [words] his parents spoke, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man confessed that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Sentähden hänen vanhempansa sanoivat: "Hänellä on kyllin ikää, kysykää häneltä".
Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Niin he kutsuivat toistamiseen miehen, joka oli ollut sokea, ja sanoivat hänelle: "Anna kunnia Jumalalle; me tiedämme, että se mies on syntinen".
Then again they called the man that was blind, and said to him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 Hän vastasi: "Onko hän syntinen, sitä en tiedä; sen vain tiedän, että minä, joka olin sokea, nyt näen".
He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 Niin he sanoivat hänelle: "Mitä hän sinulle teki? Miten hän avasi sinun silmäsi?"
Then they said to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thy eyes?
27 Hän vastasi heille: "Johan minä teille sanoin, ettekä te kuulleet. Miksi taas tahdotte sitä kuulla? Tahdotteko tekin ruveta hänen opetuslapsiksensa?"
He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: Why would ye hear [it] again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 Niin he herjasivat häntä ja sanoivat: "Sinä olet hänen opetuslapsensa, mutta me olemme Mooseksen opetuslapsia.
Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are the disciples of Moses.
29 Me tiedämme Jumalan puhuneen Moosekselle, mutta mistä tämä on, sitä emme tiedä."
We know that God spoke to Moses: [as for] this [man], we know not whence he is.
30 Mies vastasi ja sanoi heille: "Sehän tässä on ihmeellistä, että te ette tiedä, mistä hän on, ja kuitenkin hän on avannut minun silmäni.
The man answered and said to them, Why, herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and [yet] he hath opened my eyes.
31 Me tiedämme, ettei Jumala kuule syntisiä; vaan joka on jumalaapelkääväinen ja tekee hänen tahtonsa, sitä hän kuulee.
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man is a worshiper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Since the world began hath it not been heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. (aiōn g165)
33 Jos hän ei olisi Jumalasta, ei hän voisi mitään tehdä."
If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.
34 He vastasivat ja sanoivat hänelle: "Sinä olet kokonaan synneissä syntynyt, ja sinä tahdot opettaa meitä!" Ja he ajoivat hänet ulos.
They answered and said to him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? and they cast him out.
35 Ja Jeesus sai kuulla heidän ajaneen hänet ulos; ja hänet tavatessaan hän sanoi hänelle: "Uskotko sinä Jumalan Poikaan?"
Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he said to him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 Hän vastasi ja sanoi: "Herra, kuka hän on, että minä häneen uskoisin?"
He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him?
37 Jeesus sanoi hänelle: "Sinä olet hänet nähnyt, ja hän on se, joka sinun kanssasi puhuu".
And Jesus said to him, thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 Niin hän sanoi: "Herra, minä uskon"; ja hän kumartaen rukoili häntä.
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshiped him.
39 Ja Jeesus sanoi: "Tuomioksi minä olen tullut tähän maailmaan, että ne, jotka eivät näe, näkisivät, ja ne, jotka näkevät, tulisivat sokeiksi".
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they who see not, may see; and that they who see, may be made blind.
40 Ja muutamat fariseukset, jotka olivat siinä häntä lähellä, kuulivat tämän ja sanoivat hänelle: "Olemmeko mekin sokeat?"
And [some] of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, and said to him, Are we blind also?
41 Jeesus sanoi heille: "Jos te olisitte sokeat, ei teillä olisi syntiä; mutta nyt te sanotte: 'Me näemme'; sentähden teidän syntinne pysyy".
Jesus said to them, If ye were blind, ye would have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
