Jobin 22
1 Teemanilainen Elifas lausui ja sanoi:
And Eliphaz the Temanite answers and says:
2 "Taitaako ihminen hyödyttää Jumalaa? Ei, vaan ainoastaan itseään hyödyttää ymmärtäväinen.
“Is a man profitable to God, Because a wise man is profitable to himself?
3 Onko Kaikkivaltiaalla etua siitä, jos olet vanhurskas, tahi voittoa siitä, jos vaellat nuhteetonna?
Is it a delight to the Mighty One That you are righteous? Is it gain, That you make your ways perfect?
4 Jumalanpelostasiko hän sinua rankaisee ja käy kanssasi oikeutta?
Because of your reverence Does He reason [with] you? He enters with you into judgment:
5 Eikö pahuutesi ole suuri ja sinun pahat tekosi loppumattomat?
Is your wickedness not abundant? And there is no end to your iniquities.
6 Sillä otithan veljiltäsi pantin syyttä ja riistit vaatteet alastomilta.
For you take a pledge of your brother for nothing, And you strip off the garments of the naked.
7 Et antanut nääntyvälle vettä juoda, ja nälkäiseltä kielsit leivän.
You do not cause the weary to drink water, And you withhold bread from the hungry.
8 Kovakouraisen omaksi tuli maa, ja vain korkea-arvoinen sai siinä asua.
As for the man of arm—he has the earth, And the accepted of face—he dwells in it.
9 Lesket sinä lähetit luotasi tyhjin käsin, ja orpojen käsivarret murskattiin.
You have sent widows away empty, And the arms of the fatherless are bruised.
10 Sentähden paulat nyt sinua ympäröivät, ja äkillinen peljästys kauhistuttaa sinut-
Therefore snares [are] all around you, And sudden fear troubles you.
11 vai etkö näe pimeyttä? -ja vesitulva peittää sinut.
Or darkness—you do not see, And abundance of waters covers you.
12 Eikö Jumala ole korkea kuin taivas? Katso, kuinka korkealla on tähtien päälaki.
Is God not high [in] the heavens? And see the summit of the stars, That they are high.
13 Ja niin sinä sanot: 'Mitäpä Jumala tietää? Voiko hän tuomita synkkäin pilvien takaa?
And you have said, How has God known? Does He judge through thickness?
14 Pilvet ovat hänellä verhona, niin ettei hän näe; ja taivaanrannalla hän käyskentelee.'
Thick clouds [are] a secret place to Him, And He does not see, And He habitually walks [above] the circle of the heavens.
15 Tahdotko seurata iänikuista polkua, jota pahantekijät vaelsivat,
Do you observe the path of the age, That men of iniquity have trodden,
16 ne, jotka kukistettiin ennen aikojaan ja joiden perustuksen virta huuhtoi pois,
Who have been cut down unexpectedly? A flood is poured out on their foundation.
17 jotka sanoivat Jumalalle: 'Poistu meistä. Mitä voisi Kaikkivaltias meille tehdä?'
Those saying to God, Turn aside from us, And what does the Mighty One do to them?
18 Ja kuitenkin hän oli täyttänyt heidän talonsa hyvyydellä. Mutta minusta on kaukana jumalattomain neuvo.
And He has filled their houses [with] good (And the counsel of the wicked Has been far from me).
19 Hurskaat näkevät sen ja iloitsevat, ja viaton pilkkaa heitä:
The righteous see and they rejoice, And the innocent mocks at them:
20 'Totisesti, vastustajamme ovat hävinneet, ja mitä heistä jäi, kulutti tuli'.
Surely our substance has not been cut off, And fire has consumed their excellence.
21 Tee siis sovinto ja elä rauhassa hänen kanssaan, niin saavutat onnen.
Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace, Thereby your increase [is] good.
22 Ota opetusta hänen suustaan ja kätke hänen sanansa sydämeesi.
Please receive a law from His mouth, And set His sayings in your heart.
23 Kun palajat Kaikkivaltiaan tykö, niin tulet raketuksi, jos karkoitat vääryyden majastasi kauas,
If you return to the Mighty you are built up, You put iniquity far from your tents.
24 viskaat kulta-aarteesi tomuun ja Oofirin kullan joen kivien joukkoon.
So as to set a defense on the dust, And a covering on a rock of the valleys.
25 Jos Kaikkivaltias tulee sinun kulta-aarteeksesi, sinun hopeaharkoiksesi,
And the Mighty has been your defense, And silver [is] strength to you.
26 silloin on ilosi oleva Kaikkivaltiaassa, ja sinä nostat kasvosi Jumalan puoleen.
For then you delight yourself on the Mighty, And lift up your face to God,
27 Kun rukoilet häntä, niin hän kuulee sinua, ja sinä saat täyttää lupauksesi.
You make supplication to Him, And He hears you, And you complete your vows.
28 Jos mitä päätät, niin se sinulle onnistuu, ja sinun teillesi loistaa valo.
And you decree a saying, And it is established to you, And light has shone on your ways.
29 Jos tie painuu alaspäin, niin sinä sanot: 'Ylös!' ja hän auttaa nöyrtyväistä.
For they have made low, And you say, Lift up. And He saves the bowed down of eyes.
30 Hän pelastaa senkin, joka ei ole viaton; sinun kättesi puhtauden tähden hän pelastuu."
He delivers the one [who is] not innocent, Indeed, he has been delivered By the cleanness of your hands.”
