Jesajan 14
1 Sillä Herra armahtaa Jaakobia ja valitsee vielä Israelin ja sijoittaa heidät heidän omaan maahansa; muukalaiset liittyvät heihin ja yhtyvät Jaakobin heimoon.
For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land; and the stranger shall join himself with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2 Kansat ottavat heidät ja tuovat heidät heidän kotiinsa, ja Israelin heimo saa heidät Herran maassa omiksensa, orjiksi ja orjattariksi, ja he vangitsevat vangitsijansa ja vallitsevat käskijöitänsä.
And the peoples shall take them, and bring them to their place; and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and for handmaids; and they shall take them captive, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy travail, and from thy trouble, and from the hard service wherein thou wast made to serve,
4 sinä virität tämän pilkkalaulun Baabelin kuninkaasta ja sanot: "Kuinka on käskijästä tullut loppu, tullut loppu ahdistuksesta!
that thou shalt take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say: How hath the oppressor ceased! the exactress of gold ceased!
5 Herra on murtanut jumalattomain sauvan, valtiaitten vitsan,
The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers,
6 joka kiukussa löi kansoja, löi lakkaamatta, joka vihassa vallitsi kansakuntia, vainosi säälimättä.
That smote the peoples in wrath with an incessant stroke, that ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.
7 Kaikki maa on saanut levon ja rauhan, he puhkeavat riemuun.
The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet; they break forth into singing.
8 Kypressitkin sinusta iloa pitävät sekä Libanonin setrit: 'Sinun maata mentyäsi ei nouse kukaan meitä hakkaamaan'.
Yea, the cypresses rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon: 'Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.'
9 Tuonela tuolla alhaalla liikkuu sinun tähtesi, ottaaksensa sinut vastaan, kun tulet. Se herättää haamut sinun tähtesi, kaikki maan johtomiehet, nostattaa valtaistuimiltansa kaikki kansojen kuninkaat. (Sheol h7585)
The nether-world from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming; the shades are stirred up for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; all the kings of the nations are raised up from their thrones. (Sheol h7585)
10 Kaikki he lausuvat ja sanovat sinulle: 'Myös sinä olet riutunut niinkuin mekin, olet tullut meidän kaltaiseksemme'.
All they do answer and say unto thee: 'Art thou also become weak as we? Art thou become like unto us?
11 Alas tuonelaan on vaipunut sinun komeutesi, sinun harppujesi helinä; sinun allasi ovat vuoteena madot, toukat ovat peittonasi. (Sheol h7585)
Thy pomp is brought down to the nether-world, and the noise of thy psalteries; the maggot is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.' (Sheol h7585)
12 Kuinka olet taivaalta pudonnut, sinä kointähti, aamuruskon poika! Kuinka olet maahan syösty, sinä kansojen kukistaja!
How art thou fallen from heaven, O day-star, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, that didst cast lots over the nations!
13 Sinä sanoit sydämessäsi: 'Minä nousen taivaaseen, korkeammalle Jumalan tähtiä minä istuimeni korotan ja istun ilmestysvuorelle, pohjimmaiseen Pohjolaan.
And thou saidst in thy heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, above the stars of God will I exalt my throne, and I will sit upon the mount of meeting, in the uttermost parts of the north;
14 Minä nousen pilvien kukkuloille, teen itseni Korkeimman vertaiseksi.'
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.'
Yet thou shalt be brought down to the nether-world, to the uttermost parts of the pit. (Sheol h7585)
16 Jotka sinut näkevät, ne katsovat pitkään, tarkastavat sinua: 'Onko tämä se mies, joka järisytti maan, järkytti valtakunnat,
They that saw thee do narrowly look upon thee, they gaze earnestly at thee: 'Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 joka teki maanpiirin erämaaksi ja hävitti sen kaupungit, joka ei päästänyt vankejansa kotiin?'
That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?'
18 Kansojen kuninkaat kaikki lepäävät kunniassa, kukin kammiossansa.
All the kings of the nations, all of them, sleep in glory, every one in his own house.
19 Mutta sinä olet kaukana haudastasi, poisviskattuna niinkuin hylkyvesa, olet peittynyt surmattujen, miekalla lävistettyjen, kiviseen kuoppaan suistuneitten alle, olet kuin tallattu raato.
But thou art cast forth away from thy grave like an abhorred offshoot, in the raiment of the slain, that are thrust through with the sword, that go down to the pavement of the pit, as a carcass trodden under foot.
20 Et sinä saa yhtyä heidän kanssaan haudassa, sillä sinä olet maasi hävittänyt, kansasi tappanut. Ei ikinä enää mainita pahantekijäin sukua.
Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, thou hast slain thy people; the seed of evil-doers shall not be named for ever.
21 Laittakaa hänen lapsillensa verilöyly heidän isiensä pahain tekojen tähden, etteivät he nousisi ottamaan omaksensa maata ja täyttäisi maanpiiriä kaupungeilla."
Prepare ye slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they rise not up, and possess the earth, and fill the face of the world with cities.
22 Minä nousen heitä vastaan, sanoo Herra Sebaot, ja hävitän Baabelilta nimen ja jäännöksen, suvun ja jälkeläiset, sanoo Herra.
And I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon name and remnant, and offshoot and offspring, saith the LORD.
23 Minä teen sen tuonenkurkien perinnöksi ja vesirämeeksi, minä lakaisen sen pois hävityksen luudalla, sanoo Herra Sebaot.
I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water; and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.
24 Herra Sebaot on vannonut sanoen: Totisesti, mitä minä olen ajatellut, se tapahtuu, mitä minä olen päättänyt, se toteutuu:
The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying: Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand,
25 minä muserran Assurin maassani ja tallaan hänet vuorillani, niin että hänen ikeensä heltiää heidän päältään ja hänen kuormansa heltiää heidän hartioiltansa.
That I will break Asshur in My land, and upon My mountains tread him under foot; then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulder.
26 Tämä on päätös, päätetty kaikesta maasta, tämä on käsi, ojennettu kaikkien kansojen yli.
This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
27 Sillä Herra Sebaot on päättänyt, -kuka sen tyhjäksi tekee? Hänen kätensä on ojennettu, -kuka sen torjuu?
For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? And His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
28 Kuningas Aahaan kuolinvuotena tuli tämä ennustus:
In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.
29 Älä iloitse, Filistea kaikkinesi, siitä että sauva, joka sinua löi, on murtunut. Sillä käärmeen juuresta kasvaa myrkkylisko, ja sen hedelmä on lentävä käärme.
Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of thee, because the rod that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a basilisk, and his fruit shall be a flying serpent.
30 Vaivaisista kurjimmat löytävät laitumen, ja köyhät saavat turvassa levätä, mutta sinun juuresi minä tapan nälkään, ja sinun jäännöksesi surmataan.
And the first-born of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety; and I will kill thy root with famine, and thy remnant shall be slain.
31 Valita, portti, huuda, kaupunki; menehdy pelkoon, Filistea kaikkinesi, sillä pohjoisesta tulee savu; eikä yksikään erkane vihollisen riveistä.
Howl, O gate; cry, O city; melt away, O Philistia, all of thee; for there cometh a smoke out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.
32 Ja mitä vastataan pakanakansan sanansaattajille? "Herra on perustanut Siionin, ja hänen kansansa kurjat saavat siinä turvan".
What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and in her shall the afflicted of His people take refuge.
