1 Silloin Jumala muisti Nooaa ja kaikkia metsäeläimiä ja kaikkia karjaeläimiä, jotka olivat hänen kanssansa arkissa. Ja Jumala nosti tuulen puhaltamaan yli maan, niin että vesi laskeutui.
And God remembered Noah, and all the beasts, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.
2 Ja syvyyden lähteet ja taivaan akkunat sulkeutuivat, ja sade taivaasta taukosi.
Also the fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.
3 Ja vesi väistyi väistymistään maan päältä; sadan viidenkymmenen päivän kuluttua alkoi vesi vähentyä.
And the waters returned from off the earth continually. And after the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.
4 Niin arkki pysähtyi seitsemäntenä kuukautena, kuukauden seitsemäntenätoista päivänä, Araratin vuorille.
And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
5 Ja vesi väheni vähenemistään aina kymmenenteen kuukauteen asti. Kymmenentenä kuukautena, kuukauden ensimmäisenä päivänä, tulivat vuorten huiput näkyviin.
And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.
6 Neljänkymmenen päivän kuluttua Nooa avasi arkin ikkunan, jonka hän oli tehnyt,
And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

And he sent forth a raven. And it went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

And he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground.
9 Mutta kyyhkynen ei löytänyt paikkaa, missä lepuuttaa jalkaansa, vaan palasi hänen luoksensa arkkiin, sillä koko maa oli vielä veden peitossa; niin hän ojensi kätensä ja otti sen luoksensa arkkiin.
But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot. And she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. And he put forth his hand, and took her, and brought her in to him into the ark.
10 Ja hän odotti vielä toiset seitsemän päivää ja laski taas kyyhkysen arkista.
And he stayed yet another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark.
11 Ja kyyhkynen tuli hänen luoksensa ehtoopuolella, ja katso, sen suussa oli tuore öljypuun lehti. Niin Nooa ymmärsi, että vesi oli vähentynyt maan päältä.
And the dove came in to him at evening. And, lo, in her mouth an olive leaf plucked off, so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.
12 Mutta hän odotti vielä toiset seitsemän päivää ja laski kyyhkysen lentoon, eikä se enää palannut hänen luoksensa.
And he stayed yet seven other days, and sent forth the dove. And she did not return again to him any more.
13 Ja Nooan kuudentenasadantena yhdentenä ikävuotena, vuoden ensimmäisenä kuukautena, kuukauden ensimmäisenä päivänä, oli vesi kuivunut maan päältä. Niin Nooa poisti katon arkista ja katseli; ja katso, maan pinta oli kuivunut.
And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth. And Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked. And, behold, the face of the ground was dried.
14 Ja toisena kuukautena, kuukauden kahdentenakymmenentenä seitsemäntenä päivänä, oli maa aivan kuiva.
And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
15 Ja Jumala puhui Nooalle sanoen:
And God spoke to Noah, saying,
16 "Lähde arkista, sinä ja vaimosi, poikasi ja miniäsi sinun kanssasi.
Go forth from the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.
17 Ja kaikki eläimet, jotka ovat luonasi, kaikki liha, linnut ja karjaeläimet ja kaikki matelijat, jotka maan päällä matelevat, vie ne ulos kanssasi. Niitä vilisköön maassa, ja ne olkoot hedelmälliset ja lisääntykööt maan päällä."
Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee of all flesh, both birds and cattle, and every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
18 Ja Nooa ja hänen poikansa, vaimonsa ja miniänsä hänen kanssaan lähtivät ulos,
And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him.
19 niin myös kaikki metsäeläimet, kaikki matelijat ja kaikki linnut, kaikki, mikä liikkuu maan päällä, lähtivät arkista suvuittain.
Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, whatever moves upon the earth, according to their families, went forth out of the ark.
20 Ja Nooa rakensi alttarin Herralle ja otti kaikkia puhtaita karjaeläimiä ja kaikkia puhtaita lintuja ja uhrasi polttouhreja alttarilla.
And Noah built an altar to Jehovah, and took of every clean beast, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 Ja Herra tunsi suloisen tuoksun ja sanoi sydämessänsä: "En minä koskaan enää kiroa maata ihmisen tähden; sillä ihmisen sydämen aivoitukset ovat pahat nuoruudesta saakka. Enkä minä koskaan enää tuhoa kaikkea, mikä elää, niinkuin nyt olen tehnyt.
And Jehovah smelled the sweet savor. And Jehovah said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake, for that the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I again any more smite everything living, as I have done.
22 Niin kauan kuin maa pysyy, ei lakkaa kylväminen eikä leikkaaminen, ei vilu eikä helle, ei kesä eikä talvi, ei päivä eikä yö."
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
