1 Mooseksen 10
1 Tämä on kertomus Nooan poikien, Seemin, Haamin ja Jaafetin, suvusta. Heille syntyi poikia vedenpaisumuksen jälkeen.
And these [are] the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and sons are born to them after the flood.
2 Jaafetin pojat olivat Goomer, Maagog, Maadai, Jaavan, Tuubal, Mesek ja Tiiras.
Sons of Japheth [are] Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
3 Ja Goomerin pojat olivat Askenas, Riifat ja Toogarma.
And sons of Gomer [are] Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 Ja Jaavanin pojat olivat Elisa, Tarsis, kittiläiset ja doodanilaiset;
And sons of Javan [are] Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 heistä haarautuivat pakanoiden saarten asukkaat maittensa, eri kieltensä, heimojensa ja kansakuntiensa mukaan.
By these the islands of the nations have been parted in their lands, each by his tongue, by their families, in their nations.
6 Ja Haamin pojat olivat Kuus, Misraim, Puut ja Kanaan.
And sons of Ham [are] Cush, and Mitzraim, and Phut, and Canaan.
7 Ja Kuusin pojat olivat Seba, Havila, Sabta, Raema ja Sabteka. Ja Raeman pojat olivat Saba ja Dedan.
And sons of Cush [are] Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah; and sons of Raamah [are] Sheba and Dedan.
8 Ja Kuusille syntyi Nimrod. Hän oli ensimmäinen valtias maan päällä.
And Cush has begotten Nimrod;
9 Hän oli mahtava metsämies Herran edessä. Siitä on sananparsi: "Mahtava metsämies Herran edessä niinkuin Nimrod".
he has begun to be a hero in the land; he has been a hero in hunting before YHWH; therefore it is said, “As Nimrod the hero [in] hunting before YHWH.”
10 Ja hänen valtakuntansa alkuna olivat Baabel, Erek, Akkad ja Kalne Sinearin maassa.
And the first part of his kingdom is Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar;
11 Siitä maasta hän lähti Assuriin ja rakensi Niiniven, Rehobot-Iirin ja Kelahin,
from that land he has gone out to Asshur, and builds Nineveh, even the broad places of the city, and Calah,
12 sekä Resenin Niiniven ja Kelahin välille; se on tuo suuri kaupunki.
and Resen, between Nineveh and Calah; it [is] the great city.
13 Ja Misraimille syntyivät luudilaiset, anamilaiset, lehabilaiset, naftuhilaiset,
And Mitzraim has begotten the Ludim, and the Anamim, and the Lehabim, and the Naphtuhim,
14 patrokselaiset, kasluhilaiset, joista filistealaiset ovat lähteneet, sekä kaftorilaiset.
and the Pathrusim, and the Casluhim (from where have come out Philistim), and the Caphtorim.
15 Ja Kanaanille syntyivät Siidon, hänen esikoisensa, ja Heet,
And Canaan has begotten Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,
16 sekä jebusilaiset, amorilaiset, girgasilaiset,
and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite,
17 hivviläiset, arkilaiset, siiniläiset,
and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
18 arvadilaiset, semarilaiset ja hamatilaiset. Sittemmin hajaantuivat kanaanilaisten heimot.
and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite have been scattered.
19 Ja kanaanilaisten alue ulottui Siidonista Gerariin päin aina Gassaan asti sekä Sodomaan, Gomorraan, Admaan ja Seboimiin päin aina Lesaan asti.
And the border of the Canaanite is from Sidon, [in] your coming toward Gerar, to Gaza; [in] your coming toward Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, to Lasha.
20 Nämä olivat Haamin pojat heimojensa, kieltensä, maittensa ja kansakuntiensa mukaan.
These [are] sons of Ham, by their families, by their tongues, in their lands, in their nations.
21 Myöskin Seemille, Jaafetin vanhimmalle veljelle, josta tuli kaikkien Eeberin poikien kantaisä, syntyi poikia.
As for Shem, father of all sons of Eber, the older brother of Japheth, he has also begotten.
22 Seemin pojat olivat Eelam, Assur, Arpaksad, Luud ja Aram.
Sons of Shem [are] Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
23 Ja Aramin pojat olivat Uus, Huul, Geter ja Mas.
And sons of Aram [are] Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
24 Arpaksadille syntyi Selah, ja Selahille syntyi Eeber.
And Arphaxad has begotten Salah, and Salah has begotten Eber.
25 Ja Eeberille syntyi kaksi poikaa: toisen nimi oli Peleg, sillä hänen aikanansa jakaantuivat maan asukkaat, ja hänen veljensä nimi oli Joktan.
And two sons have been born to Eber; the name of the first [is] Peleg (for in his days the earth has been divided), and his brother’s name [is] Joktan.
26 Ja Joktanille syntyi Almodad, Selef, Hasarmavet, Jerah,
And Joktan has begotten Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,
27 Hadoram, Uusal, Dikla,
and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,
28 Oobal, Abimael, Saba,
and Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,
29 Oofir, Havila ja Joobab. Kaikki nämä olivat Joktanin poikia.
and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab; all these [are] sons of Joktan;
30 Ja heidän asumasijansa ulottuivat Meesasta aina Sefariin, Itävuorelle asti.
and their dwelling is from Mesha, [in] your coming toward Sephar, a mountain of the east.
31 Nämä olivat Seemin pojat heimojensa, kieltensä, maittensa ja kansakuntiensa mukaan.
These [are] sons of Shem, by their families, by their tongues, in their lands, by their nations.
32 Nämä olivat Nooan poikien heimot sukukuntiensa ja kansakuntiensa mukaan; ja niistä haarautuivat kansat maan päälle vedenpaisumuksen jälkeen.
These [are] families of the sons of Noah, by their generations, in their nations, and by these the nations have been parted in the earth after the flood.
