1 Mutta eräs mies, nimeltä Ananias, ja hänen vaimonsa Safiira myivät maatilan,
And a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold an estate
2 ja mies kätki vaimonsa tieten osan hinnasta, ja osan hän toi ja pani apostolien jalkojen eteen.
and kept back a part from the price, his wife knowing it along with him; and having brought a certain part, laid it at the feet of the apostles.
3 Mutta Pietari sanoi: "Ananias, miksi on saatana täyttänyt sinun sydämesi, niin että koetit pettää Pyhää Henkeä ja kätkit osan maatilan hinnasta?
But Peter said, Ananias, wherefore hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and keep back a part from the price of the land?
4 Eikö se myymätönnä ollut sinun omasi, ja eikö myynnin jälkeenkin sen hinta ollut sinun? Miksi päätit sydämessäsi tämän tehdä? Et sinä ole valhetellut ihmisille, vaan Jumalalle."
Remaining with thee did it not belong to thee; and having been sold, was it not still in thy control? why hast thou placed this thing in thy heart? thou hast not lied to men, but to God.
5 Kun Ananias kuuli nämä sanat, kaatui hän maahan ja heitti henkensä. Ja suuri pelko valtasi kaikki, jotka sen kuulivat.
And Ananias hearing these words, having fallen down, breathed out his soul. And great fear came on all hearing;
6 Ja nuoret miehet nousivat ja korjasivat hänet ja kantoivat hänet pois ja hautasivat.
and the young men, rising up, took him, and having carried him out, buried him.
7 Noin kolmen hetken kuluttua hänen vaimonsa tuli sisään eikä tiennyt, mitä oli tapahtunut.
And an interval of about three hours supervened, and his wife, not having known what had taken place, came in.
8 Niin Pietari kysyi häneltä: "Sano minulle: siihenkö hintaan te myitte maatilan?" Hän vastasi: "Kyllä, juuri siihen hintaan".
And Peter responded to her, Tell me if you sold the place for so much? And she said; Yes, for so much.
9 Mutta Pietari sanoi hänelle: "Miksi olette yksissä neuvoin käyneet kiusaamaan Herran Henkeä? Katso, niiden jalat, jotka hautasivat sinun miehesi, ovat oven takana, ja he kantavat sinutkin pois."
And Peter said to her; Why has it been agreed with you to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of those having buried thy husband are at the door, and they will carry thee out.
10 Niin hän heti kaatui hänen jalkojensa eteen ja heitti henkensä; ja kun nuorukaiset tulivat sisään, tapasivat he hänet kuolleena, kantoivat pois ja hautasivat hänet hänen miehensä viereen.
And immediately she fell at his feet, and breathed out her soul; and the young men having come in found her dead, and having carried her out, buried her with her husband.
11 Ja suuri pelko valtasi koko seurakunnan ja kaikki ne, jotka tämän kuulivat.
And great fear came on all the church, and on all those hearing these things.
12 Ja apostolien kätten kautta tapahtui kansassa monta tunnustekoa ja ihmettä; ja he olivat kaikki yksimielisesti koolla Salomon pylväskäytävässä.
And many miracles and wonders were wrought by the hands of the apostles among the people. And they were all of one accord in Solomon's porch.
13 Eikä muista kukaan uskaltanut heihin liittyä, mutta kansa piti heitä suuressa kunniassa.
And no one of the rest dared to attach himself to them; but the people were magnifying them;
14 Ja yhä enemmän karttui niitä, jotka uskoivat Herraan, sekä miehiä että naisia suuret joukot.
but believers were the more added to the Lord, a multitude both of men and women,
15 Kannettiinpa sairaita kaduillekin ja pantiin vuoteille ja paareille, että Pietarin kulkiessa edes hänen varjonsa sattuisi johonkuhun heistä.
so that they were carrying the sick into the streets, and placing them on couches and beds, in order that the shadow of Peter passing along might cast a shadow on some one of them.
16 Myöskin kaupungeista Jerusalemin ympäriltä tuli paljon kansaa, ja he toivat sairaita ja saastaisten henkien vaivaamia, ja ne kaikki tulivat parannetuiksi.
Then a multitude, of the cities around about Jerusalem, came together, carrying their sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, who were all being healed.
17 Silloin nousi ylimmäinen pappi ja kaikki, jotka olivat hänen puolellansa, saddukeusten lahko, ja he tulivat kiihkoa täyteen
And the high priest and all those being with him, being the sect of the Sadducees, were filled with rage,
18 ja kävivät käsiksi apostoleihin ja panivat heidät yleiseen vankihuoneeseen.
and laid hands on the apostles, and placed them in the public prison.
19 Mutta yöllä avasi Herran enkeli vankilan ovet ja vei heidät ulos ja sanoi:
And the angel of the Lord, having opened the doors of the prison during the night, and leading them out said,
20 "Menkää ja astukaa esiin ja puhukaa pyhäkössä kansalle kaikki tämän elämän sanat".
Go, and standing in the temple, speak to the people all the words of this life.
21 Sen kuultuansa he menivät päivän koittaessa pyhäkköön ja opettivat. Niin saapui ylimmäinen pappi ja ne, jotka olivat hänen puolellansa, ja he kutsuivat koolle neuvoston ja israelilaisten vanhinten kokouksen; ja he lähettivät noutamaan heitä vankilasta.
And hearing, they came into the temple at daydawn, and were teaching. And the high priest coming and those with him, called together the sanhedrim and all the eldership of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to bring them.
22 Mutta kun oikeudenpalvelijat tulivat vankilaan, eivät he löytäneet heitä sieltä, vaan palasivat takaisin ja kertoivat,
And the officers arriving found them not in the prison; and having returned, reported,
23 sanoen: "Vankilan me kyllä huomasimme hyvin tarkasti suljetuksi ja vartijat seisomassa ovien edessä; mutta kun avasimme, emme sisältä ketään löytäneet".
saying; We found the prison closed with all safety, and the guards standing at the doors, and having opened, we found no one within.
24 Kun pyhäkön vartioston päällikkö ja ylipapit kuulivat nämä sanat, eivät he tienneet, mitä heistä ajatella ja mitä tästä tulisi.
And when the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these words, they were at a loss concerning them, what this might be.
25 Niin tuli joku ja kertoi heille: "Katso, ne miehet, jotka te panitte vankilaan, seisovat pyhäkössä ja opettavat kansaa".
And a certain one coming announced to them, Behold, the men whom you placed in the prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people.
26 Silloin päällikkö meni oikeudenpalvelijain kanssa ja nouti heidät; ei kuitenkaan väkisin, sillä he pelkäsivät, että kansa heidät kivittäisi.
Then the captain along with the officers, having gone away, led them, not with violence, for they feared the people lest they might be stoned.
27 Ja he toivat heidät ja asettivat neuvoston eteen. Ja ylimmäinen pappi kuulusteli heitä
And leading them, they placed them in the council, and the chief priests asked them, saying,
28 ja sanoi: "Me olemme kieltämällä kieltäneet teitä opettamasta tähän nimeen; ja katso, te olette täyttäneet Jerusalemin opetuksellanne ja tahdotte saattaa meidän päällemme tuon miehen veren".
With commandment we commanded you not to teach in this name; and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching; and you are determined to bring upon us the blood of this man.
29 Mutta Pietari ja muut apostolit vastasivat ja sanoivat: "Enemmän tulee totella Jumalaa kuin ihmisiä.
But Peter and the apostles responding said, It behooves us to obey God rather than men.
30 Meidän isiemme Jumala on herättänyt Jeesuksen, jonka te ripustitte puuhun ja surmasitte.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you have slain, hanging him on the wood;
31 Hänet on Jumala oikealla kädellänsä korottanut Päämieheksi ja Vapahtajaksi, antamaan Israelille parannusta ja syntien anteeksiantamusta.
Him hath God exalted at His own right hand, a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance and remission of sins to Israel.
32 Ja me olemme kaiken tämän todistajat, niin myös Pyhä Henki, jonka Jumala on antanut niille, jotka häntä tottelevat."
And we are witnesses of these words, and the Holy Ghost, whom God has given to those who obey him.

And hearing, they were cut through and were minded to kill them.
34 Mutta neuvostossa nousi eräs fariseus, nimeltä Gamaliel, lainopettaja, jota koko kansa piti arvossa, ja hän käski viedä miehet vähäksi aikaa ulos.
But a certain Pharisee, Gamaliel by name, a teacher of the law, honorable to all the people, rising in the sanhedrim command them to put the men out for a short time,
35 Sitten hän sanoi neuvostolle: "Israelin miehet, kavahtakaa, mitä aiotte tehdä näille miehille.
and he said to them; Israelitish men, take heed to yourselves in reference to these men what you are about to do.
36 Sillä ennen näitä päiviä nousi Teudas, sanoen jokin olevansa, ja häneen liittyi noin neljäsataa miestä; hänet tapettiin, ja kaikki, jotka olivat häneen suostuneet, hajotettiin, ja he joutuivat häviöön.
For before these days Theudas arose, saying that he was somebody, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, adhered, who were slain, and all, so many as confided in him, were dispersed, and came to nothing.
37 Hänen jälkeensä nousi Juudas, galilealainen, verollepanon päivinä ja vietteli kansaa luopumaan puolellensa; hänkin hukkui, ja kaikki, jotka olivat suostuneet häneen, hajotettiin.
After him Judas the Galilean arose, in the days of the enrollment, and led the people after him; he also perished, and all, so many as confided in him, were scattered abroad.
38 Ja nyt minä sanon teille: pysykää erillänne näistä miehistä ja antakaa heidän olla; sillä jos tämä hanke eli tämä teko on ihmisistä, niin se tyhjään raukeaa;
And I now say this to you: Stand aloof from these men, and let them alone; for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to naught;
39 mutta jos se on Jumalasta, niin te ette voi heitä kukistaa. Varokaa, ettei teitä ehkä havaittaisi sotiviksi itse Jumalaa vastaan."
but if it be of God, you will not be able to destroy them, lest perchance you may also be found fighting against God.
40 Niin he noudattivat hänen neuvoansa. Ja he kutsuivat apostolit sisään ja pieksättivät heitä ja kielsivät heitä puhumasta Jeesuksen nimeen ja päästivät heidät menemään.
And they obeyed him, and having called the apostles, beating them, they commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and sent them away.
41 Niin he lähtivät pois neuvostosta iloissaan siitä, että olivat katsotut arvollisiksi kärsimään häväistystä Jeesuksen nimen tähden.
Then they departed from the face of the sanhedrim, rejoicing indeed, because they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of his name.
42 Eivätkä he lakanneet, vaan opettivat joka päivä pyhäkössä ja kodeissa ja julistivat evankeliumia Kristuksesta Jeesuksesta.
And all day in the temple, and from house to house, they ceased not teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
