1 Profeetta Elisa kutsui erään profeetanoppilaan ja sanoi hänelle: "Vyötä kupeesi ja ota tämä öljyastia mukaasi ja mene Gileadin Raamotiin.
Then Elisha the Prophet called one of ye children of the Prophets, and sayde vnto him, Gird thy loynes and take this boxe of oyle in thine hand and get thee to Ramoth Gilead.
2 Ja tultuasi sinne hae sieltä käsiisi Jeehu, Joosafatin poika, Nimsin pojanpoika; mene sisään, käske hänen nousta toveriensa keskeltä ja vie hänet sisimpään huoneeseen.
And when thou commest thither, looke where is Iehu ye sonne of Iehoshaphat, the sonne of Nimshi, and go, and make him arise vp from among his brethren, and leade him to a secret chamber.
3 Ota sitten öljyastia, vuodata öljyä hänen päähänsä ja sano: 'Näin sanoo Herra: Minä olen voidellut sinut Israelin kuninkaaksi'. Avaa sitten ovi ja pakene viivyttelemättä."
Then take the boxe of oyle and powre it on his head, and say, Thus sayth the Lord, I haue anointed thee for King ouer Israel. then open the doore, and flee without any tarying.
4 Niin nuorukainen, profeetan palvelija, meni Gileadin Raamotiin.
So the seruat of ye Prophet gate him to Ramoth Gilead.
5 Ja kun hän tuli sinne, niin katso: sotaväen päälliköt istuivat siellä. Niin hän sanoi: "Minulla on asiaa sinulle, päällikkö". Jeehu kysyi: "Kenelle meistä kaikista?" Hän vastasi: "Sinulle itsellesi, päällikkö".
And when he came in, behold, the captaines of the armie were sitting. And he sayde, I haue a message to thee, O captaine. And Iehu sayd, Vnto which of all vs? And he answered, To thee, O captaine.
6 Silloin tämä nousi ja meni sisälle huoneeseen; ja hän vuodatti öljyä tämän päähän ja sanoi hänelle: "Näin sanoo Herra, Israelin Jumala: Minä olen voidellut sinut Herran kansan, Israelin, kuninkaaksi.
And he arose, and went into the house, and he powred the oyle on his head and sayde vnto him, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, I haue anointed thee for King ouer the people of the Lord, euen ouer Israel.
7 Ja sinä olet surmaava herrasi Ahabin suvun; sillä minä kostan Iisebelille palvelijaini, profeettain, veren ja kaikkien Herran palvelijain veren.
And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may auenge the blood of my seruants the Prophets, and the blood of al the seruants of the Lord of the hand of Iezebel.
8 Ja koko Ahabin suku on hukkuva: minä hävitän Israelista Ahabin miespuoliset jälkeläiset, kaikki tyynni.
For the whole house of Ahab shalbe destroied: and I will cut off from Ahab, him that maketh water against the wall, as well him that is shut vp, as him that is left in Israel.
9 Ja minä teen Ahabin suvulle saman, minkä Jerobeamin, Nebatin pojan, suvulle ja saman, minkä Baesan, Ahian pojan, suvulle.
And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the sonne of Ahiiah.
10 Ja koirat syövät Iisebelin Jisreelin vainiolla, eikä kukaan ole hautaava häntä." Sitten hän avasi oven ja pakeni.
And the dogges shall eate Iezebel in the fielde of Izreel, and there shalbe none to burie her. And he opened the doore, and fled.
11 Kun Jeehu tuli ulos herransa palvelijain luo, kysyttiin häneltä: "Onko kaikki hyvin? Miksi tuo hullu kävi sinun luonasi?" Hän vastasi heille: "Tehän tunnette sen miehen ja hänen puheensa".
Then Iehu came out to the seruants of his lord. And one sayd vnto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellowe to thee? And hee sayde vnto them, Ye knowe the man, and what his talke was.
12 Mutta he sanoivat: "Valhetta! Sano meille totuus." Hän sanoi: "Niin ja niin hän puhui minulle ja sanoi: 'Näin sanoo Herra: Minä olen voidellut sinut Israelin kuninkaaksi'".
And they sayde, It is false, tell vs it nowe. Then he sayd, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saieth the Lord, I haue anointed thee for King ouer Israel.
13 Silloin he ottivat kiiruusti kukin vaatteensa ja panivat ne hänen allensa paljaille portaille; ja he puhalsivat pasunaan ja huusivat: "Jeehu on tullut kuninkaaksi".
Then they made haste, and tooke euerie man his garment, and put it vnder him on the top of the staires, and blewe the trumpet, saying, Iehu is King.
14 Niin Jeehu, Joosafatin poika, Nimsin pojanpoika, teki salaliiton Jooramia vastaan. Jooram oli ollut kaiken Israelin kanssa puolustamassa Gileadin Raamotia Hasaelia, Aramin kuningasta, vastaan.
So Iehu ye sonne of Iehoshaphat the sonne of Nimshi conspired against Ioram: (Now Ioram kept Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael King of Aram.
15 Mutta kuningas Jooram oli tullut takaisin parantuakseen Jisreelissä haavoista, joita aramilaiset olivat iskeneet häneen hänen taistellessaan Hasaelia, Aramin kuningasta, vastaan. Ja Jeehu sanoi: "Jos se teille kelpaa, niin älkää päästäkö pakoon kaupungista ketään, joka menisi ilmoittamaan tätä Jisreeliin".
And King Ioram returned to bee healed in Izreel of the woundes, which the Aramites had giuen him, when hee fought with Hazael King of Aram) and Iehu sayde, If it be your mindes, let no man depart and escape out of the citie, to goe and tell in Izreel.
16 Sitten Jeehu nousi vaunuihinsa ja lähti Jisreeliin, sillä Jooram makasi siellä; ja Ahasja, Juudan kuningas, oli tullut sinne katsomaan Jooramia.
So Iehu gate vp into a charet, and went to Izreel: for Ioram lay there, and Ahaziah King of Iudah was come downe to see Ioram.
17 Mutta tähystäjä seisoi Jisreelin tornissa, ja kun hän näki Jeehun joukon tulevan, sanoi hän: "Minä näen väkijoukon". Niin Jooram sanoi: "Otettakoon ratsumies ja lähetettäköön heitä vastaan kysymään, onko kaikki hyvin".
And the watchman that stoode in the towre in Izreel spyed the companie of Iehu as hee came, and sayd, I see a companie. And Iehoram said, Take a horseman and send to meete them, that hee may say, Is it peace?
18 Ja ratsumies lähti häntä vastaan ja sanoi: "Näin kysyy kuningas: 'Onko kaikki hyvin?'" Jeehu vastasi: "Mitä se sinua liikuttaa, onko hyvin? Käänny ja seuraa minua." Niin tähystäjä ilmoitti sanoen: "Sanansaattaja on tullut heidän luoksensa, mutta ei palaa".
So there went one on horseback to meete him, and sayde, Thus sayth the King, Is it peace? And Iehu sayd, What hast thou to do with peace? Turne behinde me. And the watchman tolde, saying, The messenger came to them, but he commeth not againe.
19 Silloin hän lähetti toisen ratsumiehen. Kun tämä oli tullut heidän luoksensa, sanoi hän: "Näin kysyy kuningas: 'Onko kaikki hyvin?' Jeehu vastasi: "Mitä se sinua liikuttaa, onko hyvin? Käänny ja seuraa minua."
Then hee sent out another on horsebacke, which came to them, and sayde, Thus sayth the King, Is it peace? And Iehu answered, What hast thou to doe with peace? turne behinde me.
20 Niin tähystäjä ilmoitti sanoen: "Hän on tullut heidän luoksensa, mutta ei palaa. Ja ajo on aivan kuin Jeehun, Nimsin pojan, ajoa; sillä hän ajaa niinkuin hurja."
And the watchman tolde, saying, He came to them also, but commeth not againe, and the marching is like the marching of Iehu the sonne of Nimshi: for he marcheth furiously.
21 Silloin Jooram sanoi: "Valjastettakoon!" Ja he valjastivat hänen sotavaununsa. Niin Jooram, Israelin kuningas, ja Ahasja, Juudan kuningas, lähtivät kumpikin sotavaunuissansa ja menivät Jeehua vastaan. He kohtasivat hänet jisreeliläisen Naabotin maapalstalla.
Then Iehoram sayd, Make ready: and his charet was made ready. And Iehoram King of Israel and Ahaziah King of Iudah went out eyther of them in his charet against Iehu, and met him in the fielde of Naboth the Izreelite.
22 Kun Jooram näki Jeehun, kysyi hän: "Onko kaikki hyvin, Jeehu?" Tämä vastasi: "Kuinka kaikki voisi olla hyvin, kun sinun äitisi Iisebelin haureus ja hänen monet velhoutensa yhä vielä jatkuvat?"
And when Iehoram sawe Iehu, he sayde, Is it peace, Iehu? And he answered, What peace? whiles the whoredomes of thy mother Iezebel, and her witchcraftes are yet in great nomber?
23 Silloin Jooram käänsi vaununsa ja pakeni, huutaen Ahasjalle: "Kavallus, Ahasja!"
Then Iehoram turned his hand, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, O Ahaziah, there is treason.
24 Mutta Jeehu sieppasi jousen käteensä ja ampui Jooramia hartioiden väliin, niin että nuoli meni sydämen lävitse, ja hän vaipui vaunuihinsa.
But Iehu tooke a bowe in his hande, and smote Iehoram betweene the shoulders, that the arowe went through his heart: and he fell downe in his charet.
25 Sitten hän sanoi Bidkarille, vaunusoturille: "Ota hänet ja heitä jisreeliläisen Naabotin maapalstalle; sillä muistathan, että Herra meidän ratsastaessamme rinnakkain hänen isänsä Ahabin jäljessä lausui hänestä tämän ennustuksen:
Then said Iehu to Bidkar a captaine, Take, and cast him in some place of the fielde of Naboth the Izreelite: for I remember that when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the Lord layed this burden vpon him.
26 'Totisesti, minä näin eilen Naabotin ja hänen poikiensa veren, sanoo Herra; ja minä olen juuri tällä maapalstalla kostava sinulle, sanoo Herra'. Ota siis hänet ja heitä tälle maapalstalle, Herran sanan mukaan."
Surely I haue seene yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sonnes, saide the Lord, and I will render it thee in this fielde, saith the Lord: nowe therefore take and cast him in the fielde, according to the word of the Lord.
27 Kun Ahasja, Juudan kuningas, sen näki, pakeni hän Beet-Gaaniin päin. Mutta Jeehu ajoi häntä takaa ja sanoi: "Ampukaa hänetkin vaunuihinsa". Ja he ampuivat häntä Guurin solassa, joka on Jibleamin luona; mutta hän pakeni Megiddoon ja kuoli siellä.
But when Ahaziah the King of Iudah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house: And Iehu pursued after him, and sayd, Smite him also in the charet: and they smote him in the going vp to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And hee fled to Megiddo, and there dyed.
28 Ja hänen palvelijansa veivät hänet vaunuissa Jerusalemiin ja hautasivat hänet hänen omaan hautaansa, hänen isiensä viereen, Daavidin kaupunkiin.
And his seruants caried him in a charet to Ierusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.
29 Ahasja oli tullut Juudan kuninkaaksi Jooramin, Ahabin pojan, yhdentenätoista hallitusvuotena.
And in the eleuenth yere of Ioram the sonne of Ahab, began Ahaziah to reigne ouer Iudah.
30 Sitten Jeehu tuli Jisreeliin. Kun Iisebel kuuli sen, maalasi hän ihomaalilla silmäluomensa, koristeli päänsä ja katseli ulos akkunasta.
And when Iehu was come to Izreel, Iezebel heard of it, and painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a windowe.
31 Ja kun Jeehu tuli portista sisään, kysyi Iisebel: "Kävikö hyvin Simrille, herransa murhaajalle?"
And as Iehu entred at the gate, shee sayde, Had Zimri peace, which slewe his master?
32 Hän käänsi kasvonsa akkunaa kohti ja sanoi: "Kuka on minun puolellani? Kuka?" Niin pari kolme hoviherraa katsoi alas häneen.
And he lift vp his eyes to the windowe, and sayd, Who is on my side, who? Then two or three of her Eunuches looked vnto him.
33 Jeehu sanoi: "Syöskää hänet alas". Ja he syöksivät hänet alas, niin että hänen vertansa pirskui seinään ja hevosiin; ja nämä tallasivat hänet jalkoihinsa.
And he sayde, Cast her downe: and they cast her downe, and hee sprinkled of her blood vpon the wall, and vpon the horses, and he trode her vnder foote.
34 Sitten Jeehu meni sisään, söi ja joi. Ja hän sanoi: "Korjatkaa se kirottu ja haudatkaa hänet, sillä onhan hän kuninkaan tytär".
And when he was come in, he did eate and drinke, and sayde, Visite now yonder cursed woman, and burie her: for she is a Kings daughter.
35 Mutta kun he menivät hautaamaan häntä, eivät he löytäneet hänestä muuta kuin pääkallon, jalat ja kädet.
And they went to burie her, but they foud no more of her, then the skull and the feete, and the palmes of her handes.
36 Ja he tulivat takaisin ja ilmoittivat sen Jeehulle. Niin hän sanoi: "Tässä on toteutunut Herran sana, jonka hän puhui palvelijansa tisbeläisen Elian kautta: 'Jisreelin vainiolla koirat syövät Iisebelin lihan;
Wherefore they came agayne and tolde him. And he said, This is the worde of the Lord, which he spake by his seruant Eliiah the Tishbite, saying, In the fielde of Izreel shall ye dogs eate the flesh of Iezebel.
37 ja Iisebelin ruumis on oleva niinkuin pellon lanta Jisreelin vainiolla, niin ettei voida sanoa: Tämä on Iisebel'".
And the carkeis of Iezebel shalbe as doung vpon the ground in the field of Izreel, so that none shall say, This is Iezebel.
