1 Hänen aikanaan Nebukadnessar, Baabelin kuningas, lähti liikkeelle, ja Joojakim tuli hänen palvelijakseen. Kolmen vuoden kuluttua tämä jälleen kapinoi häntä vastaan.
In his days came up Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and Jehoyakim became his servant for three years: and then he returned and rebelled against him.
2 Ja Herra lähetti hänen kimppuunsa kaldealaisten, aramilaisten, mooabilaisten ja ammonilaisten partiojoukkoja; hän lähetti ne Juudan kimppuun sitä tuhoamaan, Herran sanan mukaan, jonka hän oli puhunut palvelijainsa, profeettain, kautta.
And the Lord sent against him predatory bands of the Chaldeans, and predatory bands of the Syrians, and predatory bands of the Moabites, and predatory bands of the children of 'Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by means of his servants the prophets.
3 Mutta tämä tapahtui Juudalle Herran käskystä; ja näin hän toimitti heidät pois kasvojensa edestä Manassen syntien tähden, kaiken tähden, mitä hän oli tehnyt,
But only at the order of the Lord came this upon Judah, to remove the same out of his sight, for the sins of Menasseh, in accordance with all that he had done;
4 ja myöskin viattoman veren tähden, minkä hän oli vuodattanut täyttäessään Jerusalemin viattomalla verellä; sitä ei Herra tahtonut antaa anteeksi.
And also for the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; wherefore the Lord would not pardon.
5 Mitä muuta on kerrottavaa Joojakimista ja kaikesta, mitä hän teki, se on kirjoitettuna Juudan kuningasten aikakirjassa.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoyakim, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
6 Ja Joojakim meni lepoon isiensä tykö. Ja hänen poikansa Joojakin tuli kuninkaaksi hänen sijaansa.
And Jehoyakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoyachin his son became king in his stead.

And the king of Egypt came no more again out of his land; for the king of Babylon had taken from the brook of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that had pertained to the king of Egypt.
8 Joojakin oli kahdeksantoista vuoden vanha tullessansa kuninkaaksi, ja hän hallitsi Jerusalemissa kolme kuukautta. Hänen äitinsä oli nimeltään Nehusta, Elnatanin tytär, Jerusalemista.
Eighteen years old was Jehoyachin when he became king, and three months did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Nechushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9 Hän teki sitä, mikä on pahaa Herran silmissä, aivan niinkuin hänen isänsä oli tehnyt.
And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, all just as that his father had done.
10 Siihen aikaan Baabelin kuninkaan Nebukadnessarin palvelijat tulivat Jerusalemiin, ja kaupunki saarrettiin.
At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was put in a state of siege.
11 Ja Nebukadnessar, Baabelin kuningas, ryntäsi kaupunkiin, hänen palvelijainsa saartaessa sitä.
And Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon came against the city, while his servants were besieging it.
12 Niin Joojakin, Juudan kuningas, antautui Baabelin kuninkaalle äitineen ja palvelijoineen, päällikköineen ja hoviherroineen. Ja Baabelin kuningas otti hänet vangiksi kahdeksantena hallitusvuotenaan.
And Jehoyachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his court-officers: and the king of Babylon took him [captive] in the eighth year of his reign.
13 Ja hän vei pois sieltä kaikki Herran temppelin ja kuninkaan linnan aarteet, ja hän rikkoi kaikki kultakalut, jotka Israelin kuningas Salomo oli teettänyt Herran temppeliin. Tapahtui, niinkuin Herra oli puhunut.
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon the king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, as the Lord had spoken.
14 Ja hän vei pakkosiirtolaisuuteen koko Jerusalemin, kaikki päälliköt ja kaikki sotaurhot, kymmenentuhatta pakkosiirtolaista, ja kaikki sepät ja lukkosepät; ei jäänyt jäljelle muita kuin maakansan köyhät.
And he led away as exiles all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand exiles, and all the craftsmen and locksmiths: there was none left, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
15 Hän siirsi Joojakinin vankina Baabeliin; samoin hän vei kuninkaan äidin, kuninkaan puolisot ja hänen hoviherransa sekä muut maan mahtavat pakkosiirtolaisina Jerusalemista Baabeliin,
And he led away Jehoyachin as exile to Babylon; and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his court-officers, and the mighty men of the land, he led into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
16 niin myös kaikki sotilaat, luvultaan seitsemäntuhatta, sepät ja lukkosepät, luvultaan tuhat, kaikki sotaan harjaantuneita urhoja. Ne Baabelin kuningas vei pakkosiirtolaisina Baabeliin.
And all the men of might, seven thousand [in number], and the craftsmen and the locksmiths a thousand [in number], all strong men, apt for war; and the king of Babylon brought them into exile to Babylon.
17 Mutta Baabelin kuningas asetti hänen setänsä Mattanjan kuninkaaksi hänen sijaansa ja muutti hänen nimensä Sidkiaksi.
And the king of Babylon made Mattanyah his uncle king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 Sidkia oli kahdenkymmenen yhden vuoden vanha tullessaan kuninkaaksi, ja hän hallitsi Jerusalemissa yksitoista vuotta. Hänen äitinsä oli nimeltään Hamutal, Jeremian tytär, Libnasta.
Twenty and one years old was Zedekiah when he became king, and eleven years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Chamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
19 Hän teki sitä, mikä on pahaa Herran silmissä, aivan samoin kuin Joojakim oli tehnyt.
And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, all just as Jehoyakim had done.
20 Sillä Herran vihan tähden kävi näin Jerusalemille ja Juudalle, kunnes hän vihdoin heitti heidät pois kasvojensa edestä.
For through the anger of the Lord it occurred in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
