Sakarjan 2

1 Ja minä nostin silmäni ja näin, ja katso, miehen kädessä oli mittanuora.

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring-line in his hand.

2 Ja minä sanoin: kuhunkas menet? Mutta hän sanoi minulle: mittaamaan Jerusalemia, ja katsomaan, kuinka pitkä ja leviä se on oleva.

Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

3 Ja katso, enkeli, joka puhui minun kanssani, läksi ulos, ja toinen enkeli meni häntä vastaan,

And behold, the angel who talked with me went forth, and another angel went forth to meet him,

4 Ja sanoi hänelle: juokse tuonne, ja puhu sille pojalle ja sano: Jerusalemissa pitää ilman muureja asuttaman, ihmisten ja karjan paljouden tähden, joka siinä oleva on.

and said to him, Run, speak to that young man, saying: Jerusalem shall be inhabited without walls On account of the multitude of men and of cattle within her.

5 Ja minä tahdon olla, sanoo Herra, tulinen muuri hänen ympärillänsä, ja tahdon itse olla kunniaksi hänen keskellänsä.

And I will be to her, saith Jehovah, A wall of fire round about, And glory will I be within her.

6 Hoi! hoi! paetkaat pohjan maasta, sanoo Herra; sillä minä hajoitin teitä neljään tuuleen taivaan alla, sanoo Herra.

Ho! ho! flee ye out of the land of the North, saith Jehovah; For toward the four winds of heaven have I scattered you abroad, saith Jehovah.

7 Hoi Zion, joka asut Babelin tyttären tykönä! pelasta sinus.

Ho, Zion, escape, Thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon!

8 Sillä näin sanoo Herra Zebaot: joka sen (ilmoitetun) kunnian jälkeen lähetti minun niiden pakanain tykö, jotka teitä raatelivat: joka teihin rupee, se rupee hänen silmänsä terään.

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: For glory hath he sent me to the nations which plundered you; (For he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.)

9 Sillä katso, minä nostan käteni heidän ylitsensä, että heidän pitää oleman niille saaliiksi, jotka ennen heitä palvelivat; että teidän pitää ymmärtämän Herran Zebaotin minua lähettäneeksi.

For, behold, I will shake my hand over them, And they shall be a spoil to those that served them; And ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me.

10 Veisaa ja riemuitse, Zionin tytär; sillä katso, minä tulen ja tahdon asua sinun tykönäs, sanoo Herra.

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For, behold, I will come, And I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith Jehovah;

11 Silloin pitää paljon pakanoita Herrassa kiinni riippuman, jotka minun kansani pitää oleman: ja minä tahdon asua sinun tykönäs, ettäs ymmärtäisit Herran Zebaotin lähettäneen minun sinun tykös.

And many nations shall join themselves to Jehovah in that day, And shall be my people; And I will dwell in the midst of thee; And thou shalt know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me to thee.

12 Ja Herra on perivä Juudan osaksensa siinä pyhässä maassa, ja on taas Jerusalemin valitseva.

And Jehovah will possess Judah as his portion in the holy land, And will again choose Jerusalem.

13 Vaijetkoon kaikki liha Herran edessä; sillä hän on noussut pyhästä asuinsiastansa.

Be silent, all flesh, before Jehovah! For he riseth up from his holy habitation.
