Psalmien 1

1 Autuas on se, joka ei vaella jumalattomain neuvossa, eikä seiso syntisten tiellä, eikä istu kussa pilkkaajat istuvat;

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of mockers.

2 Vaan rakastaa Herran lakia, ja ajattelee hänen lakiansa päivät ja yöt.

But his delight is in the law of Yahweh, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 Hän on niinkuin istutettu puu vesiojain tykönä, joka hedelmänsä antaa ajallansa, ja hänen lehtensä ei varise, ja kaikki menestyy, mitä hän tekee.

He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaves do not wither; whatever he does will prosper.

4 Mutta jumalattomat ei ole niin, vaan niinkuin akana, jonka tuuli hajoittelee.

The wicked are not so, but are instead like the chaff that the wind drives away.

5 Sentähden ei jumalattomat kestä tuomiota, eikä syntiset vanhurskasten seuraa.

So the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 Sillä Herra tietää vanhurskasten tien; mutta jumalattomain tie hukkuu.

For Yahweh approves of the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
