Psalmien 94
1 Herra Jumala, jonka kostot ovat, Jumala, jonka kostot ovat, selkiästi itses näytä.
God of vengeance — Jehovah! God of vengeance, shine forth.
2 Korota sinuas, maailman tuomari: maksa ylpeille, mitä he ansainneet ovat.
Be lifted up, O Judge of the earth, Send back a recompence on the proud.
3 Herra, kuinka kauvan pitää jumalattomain, kuinka kauvan pitää jumalattomain riemuitseman?
Till when [do] the wicked, O Jehovah? Till when do the wicked exult?
4 Tiuskuman ja puhuman niin ylpiästi, ja kaikki pahantekiät niin kerskaaman?
They utter — they speak an old saw, All working iniquity do boast themselves.
5 Herra, he polkevat alas sinun kansas, ja sinun perimistäs he vaivaavat.
Thy people, O Jehovah, they bruise, And Thine inheritance they afflict.
6 Lesket ja muukalaiset he tappavat, ja orvot he kuolettavat,
Widow and sojourner they slay, And fatherless ones they murder.
7 Ja sanovat: ei Herra sitä näe, ja Jakobin Jumala ei sitä tottele.
And they say, 'Jehovah doth not see, And the God of Jacob doth not consider.'
8 Ymmärtäkäät siis, te hullut kansan seassa! ja, te tyhmät, koska te taitaviksi tulette?
Consider, ye brutish among the people, And ye foolish, when do ye act wisely?
9 Joka korvan on istuttanut, eikö hän kuule? eli joka silmän loi, eikö hän näe?
He who planteth the ear doth He not hear? He who formeth the eye doth He not see?
10 Joka pakanoita kurittaa, eikö hän rankaise, joka ihmisille opettaa tiedon?
He who is instructing nations, Doth He not reprove? He who is teaching man knowledge [is] Jehovah.
11 Mutta Herra tietää ihmisten ajatukset, että ne turhat ovat.
He knoweth the thoughts of man, that they [are] vanity.
12 Autuas on se, jota sinä, Herra, kuritat, ja opetat sinun laistas,
O the happiness of the man Whom Thou instructest, O Jah, And out of Thy law teachest him,
13 Että hänellä kärsivällisyys olis, koska vastoin käy, siihenasti kuin jumalattomalle hauta valmistetaan.
To give rest to him from days of evil, While a pit is digged for the wicked.
14 Sillä ei Herra heitä kansaansa pois, eli hylkää perimistänsä.
For Jehovah leaveth not His people, And His inheritance forsaketh not.
15 Sillä oikeuden pitää sittekin oikeuden oleman, ja kaikki hurskaat sydämet sitä seuraavat.
For to righteousness judgment turneth back, And after it all the upright of heart,
16 Kuka seisoo minun kanssani pahoja vastaan? kuka astuu minun tyköni pahointekiöitä vastaan?
Who riseth up for me with evil doers? Who stationeth himself for me with workers of iniquity?
17 Ellei Herra minua auttaisi, niin minun sieluni makais lähes hiljaisuudessa.
Unless Jehovah [were] a help to me, My soul had almost inhabited silence.
18 Minä sanoin: minun jalkani on horjunut, vaan sinun armos, Herra, minun tukesi.
If I have said, 'My foot hath slipped,' Thy kindness, O Jehovah, supporteth me.
19 Minulla oli paljo surua sydämessäni; mutta sinun lohdutukses ilahutti minun sieluni.
In the abundance of my thoughts within me, Thy comforts delight my soul.
20 Etpäs mielisty koskaan tosin vahingolliseen istuimeen, joka lain häijysti opettaa.
Is a throne of mischief joined [with] Thee? A framer of perverseness by statute?
21 He kokoovat joukkonsa vanhurskaan sielua vastaan, ja tuomitsevat viattoman veren kadotukseen,
They decree against the soul of the righteous, And innocent blood declare wicked.
22 Mutta Herra on minun varjelukseni: minun Jumalani on minun uskallukseni turva,
And Jehovah is for a high place to me, And my God [is] for a rock — my refuge,
23 Ja hän kostaa heidän vääryytensä, ja hukuttaa heitä heidän pahuutensa tähden: Herra, meidän Jumalamme, hukuttaa heitä.
And turneth back on them their iniquity, And in their wickedness cutteth them off; Jehovah our God doth cut them off!
