Psalmien 83
1 Asaphin Psalmi ja veisu. Jumala, älä niin ratki vaikene, ja älä niin ääneti ole: Jumala, älä sitä niin kärsi.
A song. A psalm of Asaph. God, please do not stay silent! You can't remain unmoved! God, you must not keep quiet!
2 Sillä katso, Sinun vihollises kiukuitsevat, ja jotka sinua vihaavat, ylentävät päänsä.
Can't you hear the roars of your enemies? Can't you see how those who hate you are defiantly lifting up their heads?
3 He pitävät kavaloita juonia sinun kansaas vastaan, ja pitävät neuvoa sinun salatuitas vastaan,
They invent cunning plans to conspire against your people; they plot against those you treasure.
4 Sanoen: tulkaat, hävittäkäämme heitä, niin ettei he ensinkään kansa olisikaan, ettei Israelin nimeä silleen muisteltaisi.
They say, “Come on! Let's destroy them as a nation so the name ‘Israel’ will be completely forgotten.”

They all agree in their conspiracy; they've made a treaty together to attack you—
6 Edomilaiset ja Ismaelilaiset majat, Moabilaiset ja Hagarilaiset,
the people of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagirites;
7 Gebalilaiset, Ammonilaiset ja Amalekilaiset, Philistealaiset ja Tyron asuvaiset.
the people of Gebal and Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, and the inhabitants of Tyre.
8 Assur on myös itsensä heihin liittänyt, auttamaan Lotin lapsia, (Sela)
Assyria too has joined them, allied with the descendants of Lot. (Selah)
9 Tee niille niinkuin Midianilaisille, niinkuin Siseralle, niinkuin Jabinille Kisonin ojan tykönä;
Do to them what you did to Midian, what you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River.
10 Jotka mestattiin Endorin tykönä, ja tulivat loaksi maan päälle.
They were destroyed at Endor and became like manure to fertilize the ground.
11 Tee heidän pääruhtinaansa niinkuin Orebin ja Seebin, ja kaikki heidän ylimmäisensä niinkuin Seban ja Salmunnan,
Make their leaders like Oreb and Zeeb; all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna,

for they said, “Let's take the pastures of God for ourselves!”
13 Jumala, tee heitä niinkuin rattaan, niinkuin korren tuulen edessä.
My God, make them like whirling tumbleweeds, chaff blown away by the wind.
14 Niinkuin kulo metsän polttaa, ja niinkuin liekki mäet sytyttää;
Just like fire that burns the forest, a flame that sets fire to the mountains,
15 Vainoo juuri niin heitä sinun rajuilmallas, ja hämmästytä heitä tuulispäälläs.
in the same way chase them down with your storm, terrify them with your whirlwind.
16 Täytä heidän kasvonsa häpiällä, että he sinun nimeäs, Herra, etsisivät.
Shame them in defeat so that they come to you, Lord!
17 Hävetköön he ja hämmästyköön ijankaikkisesti, ja häpiään tulkoon ja hukkukoon.
Make them ashamed, terrify them forever so that they die in disgrace.
18 Niin he saavat tuta, että sinä, jonka ainoan nimi on Herra, olet ylimmäinen kaikessa maailmassa.
Let them understand that you alone, called the Lord, are the Most High who rules over all the earth.
