Psalmien 72
1 Salomon. Jumala, anna tuomios kuninkaalle, ja vanhurskautes kuninkaan pojalle,
Solomon’s. O God! thy justice, give, unto the king, And thy righteousness, unto the son of a king;
2 Että hän veis sinun kansas vanhurskauteen, ja auttais sinun raadollistas.
May he judge, Thy people with righteousness; And thine oppressed ones with justice;
3 Vuoret tuokaan rauhan kansalle, ja kukulat vanhurskauden.
May the mountains bring peace to the people, And the hills [be laden] with righteousness;
4 Hänen pitää raadollisen kansan oikeudessa pitämän, ja köyhäin lapsia auttaman ja särkemän pilkkaajat.
May he, Vindicate the oppressed of the people, Bring deliverance to the children of the needy, and, Crush the oppressor.
5 Sinua peljätään, niinkauvan kuin aurinko ja kuu ovat, lapsista niin lasten lapsiin.
Let men revere thee, With the sun, And in presence of the moon, Unto the remotest generation.
6 Hän laskee alas niinkuin sade heinän sängelle, niinkuin pisarat, jotka maan lioittavat.
Let him come down, Like rain on fields to be mown, Like myriad drops on land to be reaped.
7 Hänen aikanansa vanhurskas kukoistaa, ja on suuri rauha siihen asti, ettei kuuta enää olekaan.
May righteousness, in his days, blossom forth, And abundance of peace, till there be no moon.
8 Hän hallitsee merestä mereen ja virrasta maailman ääriin.
So let him have dominion, From sea to sea, And from the River ["Euphrates"] unto the ends of the earth;
9 Häntä pitää korven asuvaiset kumartaman, ja hänen vihollisensa pitää tomun nuoleman.
Before him, let the men of the desert kneel, But, as for his foes, the dust, let them lick;
10 Kuninkaat meren tyköä ja luodoista pitää lahjoja kantaman: kuninkaat rikkaasta Arabiasta ja Sebasta pitää annot tuoman.
The kings of Tarshish and of the Coastlands, A gift, let them render, The kings of Sheba and Seba, A present, let them bring;
11 Kaikki kuninkaat pitää häntä kumartaman, ja kaikki pakanat pitää häntä palveleman.
Yea let all kings, bow down unto him, Let, all nations, serve him;
12 Sillä hän vapahtaa huutavaisen köyhän, ja raadollisen, jolla ei ole auttajaa.
Because he Rescueth, The needy from the rich, The oppressed, who hath no helper;
13 Hän on armollinen vaivaiselle ja köyhälle, ja köyhäin sielua hän auttaa.
He Pitieth the weak and the needy, And, the lives of the needy, he Saveth:
14 Hän lunastaa heidän sielunsa petoksesta ja väkivallasta, ja heidän verensä luetaan kalliiksi hänen silmäinsä edessä.
From extortion, and, violence, he Redeemeth their life, And precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Ja hän elää ja hänelle pitää annettaman kultaa rikkaasta Arabiasta, ja häntä alati kumartaen rukoiltaman, joka päivä pitää häntä kiitettämän.
Let him live, then! And be there given unto him of the gold of Sheba, —Let prayer also be offered for him continually, All the day, let him be blessed.
16 Pivo jyviä pitää niin oleman maassa ja vuorten kukkuloilla, että sen hedelmä pitää häälymän niinkuin Libanon; ja kaupungin asuvaiset pitää kukoistaman niinkuin ruoho maan päällä.
May there be an abundance of corn in the earth, in the top of the mountains, —Let the fruit thereof, wave like Lebanon, And they of the city bloom like the fresh shoots of the earth.
17 Hänen nimensä pysyy ijankaikkisesti: niinkauvan kuin aurinko on, ulottuu hänen nimensä jälkeentulevaisille; ja he tulevat siunatuksi hänen kauttansa: kaikki pakanat ylistävät häntä.
May his Name be age-abiding, In the presence of the sun, let his Name flourish, —And may all the families of the ground bless themselves in him, All nations, pronounce him happy!
18 Kiitetty olkoon Herra Jumala, Israelin Jumala, joka yksinänsä ihmeitä tekee!
Blessed be Yahweh God, the God of Israel, —Who doeth wondrous things by himself alone;
19 Ja kiitetty olkoon hänen kunniansa nimi ijankaikkisesti; ja kaikki maa täytettäköön hänen kunniastansa, amen! amen!
And blessed be his glorious Name, unto times age-abiding, —And filled with his glory be all the earth, Amen and Amen!
20 Davidin, Isain pojan, rukoukset loppuvat.
