Psalmien 49
1 Koran lasten Psalmi, edelläveisaajalle. Kuulkaat tätä, kaikki kansat, ottakaat korviinne, kaikki maan asuvaiset,
To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Heare this, all ye people: giue eare, all ye that dwell in the world,
2 Sekä yhteinen kansa että herrat, niin rikkaat kuin köyhät.
As well lowe as hie, both rich and poore.
3 Minun suuni puhuu viisautta, ja minun sydämeni sanoo ymmärryksen.
My mouth shall speake of wisdome, and the meditation of mine heart is of knowledge.
4 Minä tahdon kallistaa korvani vertauksiin, ja minun tapaukseni kanteleella soittaa.
I will incline mine eare to a parable, and vtter my graue matter vpon the harpe.
5 Miksi minun pitäis pelkäämän pahoina päivinä, kuin minun sortajani vääryys käy minua ympäri?
Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles?
6 Jotka luottavat tavaroihinsa, ja suuresti kerskaavat paljosta rikkaudestansa.
They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.
7 Ei velikään taida ketään lunastaa, eikä Jumalalle ketään sovittaa.
Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God,
8 Sillä heidän sielunsa lunastus on ylen kallis, niin että se jää tekemättä ijankaikkisesti,
(So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer)
9 Vaikka hän vielä kauvankin eläis ja ei näkisi hautaa.
That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue.
10 Sillä hänen täytyy nähdä, että viisasten pitää kuoleman, niin myös tyhmän ja taitamattoman pitää hukkuman, ja pitää vieraille tavaransa jättämän.
For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others.
11 Heidän sydämensä ajatus on, että heidän huoneensa pitää ijankaikkisesti pysymän, ja heidän majansa suvusta sukuun, ja heidän nimensä kuuluisaksi tulemaan maan päällä.
Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.
12 Mutta ei ihminen taida pysyä kunniassa, vaan verrataan eläimiin, jotka hukkuvat.
But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die.
13 Tämä heidän tiensä on sula hulluus; kuitenkin, heidän jälkeentulevaisensa sitä suullansa kiittävät, (Sela)
This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. (Selah)
14 He makaavat helvetissä niinkuin lampaat, kuolema heitä kalvaa; mutta hurskasten pitää varhain heitä hallitseman, ja heidän öykkäyksensä pitää hukkuman, ja heidän täytyy jäädä helvettiin. (Sheol h7585)
Like sheepe they lie in graue: death deuoureth them, and the righteous shall haue domination ouer them in the morning: for their beautie shall consume, when they shall goe from their house to graue. (Sheol h7585)
15 Kuitenkin vapahtaa Jumala minun sieluni helvetin vallasta; sillä hän korjasi minun, (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 Älä sitä tottele, koska joku rikastuu, eli jos hänen huoneensa kunnia suureksi tulee.
Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.
17 Sillä kuin hän kuolee, niin ei hän mitään myötänsä vie, eikä hänen kunniansa mene alas hänen kanssansa.
For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.
18 Sillä hän kiittää sieluansa elämästänsä: ja he ylistävät sinua, jos sinä itselles hyvää teet.
For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.
19 Niin he menevät isäinsä perästä, ja ei saa nähdä ikänä valkeutta.
He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.
20 Koska ihminen on kunniassa, ja ei ole ymmärrystä, niin hän on verrattu eläimiin, jotka hukkuvat.
Man is in honour, and vnderstandeth not: he is like to beasts that perish.
