Psalmien 33
1 Riemuitkaat, te vanhurskaat, Herrassa; vakain pitää häntä kauniisti kiittämän.
Shout for joy, ye righteous, in Yahweh, To the upright, seemly is praise.
2 Kiittäkäät Herraa kanteleilla, veisatkaat hänelle kiitosta kymmenkielisellä psaltarilla.
Give ye thanks unto Yahweh with the lyre, With a harp of ten strings, make ye music unto him.
3 Veisatkaat hänelle uusi virsi: veisatkaat jalosti kielten leikissä, helisemisellä.
Sing unto him, a song that is new, With skill, sweep the strings, with loud noise.
4 Sillä Herran sana on totinen, ja mitä hän lupaa, sen hän vahvana pitää.
For right is the word of Yahweh, and, all his work, is in faithfulness:
5 Hän rakastaa vanhurskautta ja tuomiota; maa on täynnänsä Herran laupiutta.
Who loveth righteousness and justice, With the lovingkindness of Yahweh, the earth is full.
6 Herran sanalla ovat taivaat tehdyt, ja kaikki heidän joukkonsa hänen suunsa hengellä.
By the word of Yahweh, the heavens were made, and, by the spirit of his mouth, all their host:
7 Hän pitää koossa veden meressä niinkuin roukkiossa, ja kätkee syvyydet.
Who gathered as into a skin-bottle the waters of the sea, Delivering, into treasuries, the roaring deeps.
8 Peljätköön Herraa kaikki maa; häntä peljätköön kaikki maan piirin asuvaiset.
Let all the earth, stand in awe of Yahweh, Of him, be in dread, all ye inhabitants of the world;
9 Sillä koska hän sanoo, niin se tapahtuu; jos hän käskee, niin se on tehty.
For, he, spake, and it was, He, commanded, and it stood forth.
10 Herra tekee pakanain neuvot tyhjäksi; hän saattaa kansain ajatukset turhaksi.
Yahweh, hath frustrated the counsel of nations, hath brought to nothing the devices of peoples.
11 Mutta Herran neuvo pysyy ijankaikkisesti, hänen sydämensä ajatukset sukukunnasta sukukuntaan.
The counsel of Yahweh, to times age-abiding, shall stand, The devices of his heart, from generation to generation.
12 Autuas on se kansa, jonka Herra on Jumala, se kansa, jonka hän itsellensä on perinnöksi valinnut.
How happy the nation whose God is, Yahweh, The people he hath chosen as his own inheritance!
13 Herra katsoi taivaasta alas, ja näki kaikki ihmisten lapset.
Out of the heavens, hath Yahweh looked, He hath seen all the sons of men:
14 Vahvalta istuimeltansa katsoi hän kaikkia, jotka maan päällä asuvat.
Out of his settled place of abode, hath he fixed his gaze on all the inhabitants of the earth:
15 Hän valmistaa kaikkein heidän sydämensä: hän ymmärtää kaikki heidän työnsä.
Who fashioneth their heart all together, Who understandeth all their doings.
16 Ei kuningasta auta hänen suuri väkensä, eikä sankari vapahdeta suurella voimallansa.
Not a king, can be saved by greatness of force, nor, hero, deliver himself by greatness of strength:
17 Orhiit ei myös auta; ja heidän suuri väkevyytensä ei pelasta.
A deception, is the horse, for victory, and, by his great strength, shall he not deliver.
18 Katso, Herran silmät katsovat niitä, jotka häntä pelkäävät, jotka hänen laupiuteensa toivovat,
Lo! the eye of Yahweh, is toward them who revere him, unto such as are waiting for his lovingkindness:
19 Että hän pelastais heidän sielunsa kuolemasta, ja elättäis heitä nälän aikana.
To rescue, from death, their soul, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Meidän sielumme odottaa Herraa, joka on meidän apumme ja kilpemme!
Our own soul, hath waited for Yahweh, Our help and our shield, is he!
21 Sillä meidän sydämemme iloitsee hänessä, ja me toivomme hänen pyhään nimeensä.
For, in him, shall our heart rejoice, For, in his holy Name, have we trusted.
22 Olkoon sinun laupiutes, Herra, meidän päällämme, niinkuin me sinuun uskallamme!
Be thy lovingkindness, O Yahweh, upon us, According as we have waited for thee.
