Psalmien 138

1 Davidin. Minä kiitän sinua kaikesta sydämestäni: jumalain edessä minä sinulle kiitosta veisaan.

[By David.] I will give you thanks, YHWH, with my whole heart. Before the gods I will sing praises to you.

2 Minä tahdon kumartaen rukoilla sinun pyhän templis puoleen, ja kiittää sinun nimeäs, sinun armos ja totuutes tähden; sillä sinä teit nimes ja sanas suureksi kaikkein ylitse.

I will bow down toward your holy temple, and give thanks to your Name for your loving kindness and for your truth; for you have exalted your Name and your word above all.

In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul.

All the kings of the earth will give you thanks, YHWH, for they have heard the words of your mouth.

5 Ja veisaavat Herran teille, että Herran kunnia on suuri.

Yes, they will sing of the ways of YHWH; for great is YHWH's glory.

6 Sillä Herra on korkia, ja katselee nöyriä, ja ylpiät tuntee kaukaa.

For though YHWH is high, yet he looks after the lowly; but the proud, he knows from afar.

7 Jos minä vaeltaisin ahdistuksen keskellä, niin sinä virvoitat minua, ja lähetät kätes vihollisteni vihan päälle: sinun oikia kätes varjelee minua.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.

8 Herra tekee siihen lopun minun tähteni: Herra, sinun laupiutes on ijankaikkinen, älä käsialaas hylkää!

YHWH will fulfill that which concerns me; your loving kindness, YHWH, endures forever. Do not forsake the works of your own hands.
