Psalmien 107
1 Kiittäkäät Herraa; sillä hän on hyvä, ja hänen laupiutensa pysyy ijankaikkisesti.
'Give ye thanks to Jehovah, For good, for to the age [is] His kindness:'
2 Sanokaan Herran lunastetut, jotka hän on tuskasta vapahtanut,
Let the redeemed of Jehovah say, Whom He redeemed from the hand of an adversary.
3 Ja jotka hän on maakunnista koonnut, idästä ja lännestä, pohjoisesta ja etelästä,
And from the lands hath gathered them, From east and from west, From north, and from the sea.
4 Jotka eksyksissä vaelsivat korvessa umpitietä, ja ei he löytäneet kaupunkia asuaksensa,
They wandered in a wilderness, in a desert by the way, A city of habitation they have not found.
5 Isoovaiset ja janoovaiset; ja heidän sielunsa vaipui heissä.
Hungry — yea — thirsty, Their soul in them becometh feeble,
6 Ja he huusivat Herraa tuskissansa, ja hän pelasti heitä heidän hädistänsä,
And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distress He delivereth them,
7 Ja vei heitä oikiaa tietä, että he menivät asuinkaupunkiin.
And causeth them to tread in a right way, To go unto a city of habitation.
8 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee:
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.
9 Että hän ravitsee himoitsevaisen sielun ja täyttää isoovaisen sielun hyvyydellä.
For He hath satisfied a longing soul, And a hungry soul hath filled [with] goodness.
10 Jotka istuvat pimeässä ja kuoleman varjossa, vangitut ahdistuksessa ja raudoissa:
Inhabitants of dark places and death-shade, Prisoners of affliction and of iron,
11 Että he olivat Jumalan käskyä vastaan kovakorvaiset, ja olivat katsoneet ylön ylimmäisen lain;
Because they changed the saying of God, And the counsel of the Most High despised.
12 Sentähden täytyi heidän sydämensä onnettomuudella vaivattaa, niin että he lankesivat, ja ei kenkään heitä auttanut.
And He humbleth with labour their heart, They have been feeble, and there is no helper.
13 Ja he huusivat Herraa tuskissansa, ja hän autti heitä heidän hädistänsä,
And they cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them.
14 Ja vei heitä pimeydestä ulos ja kuoleman varjosta, ja särki heidän siteensä.
He bringeth them out from the dark place, And death-shade, And their bands He draweth away.
15 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee:
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men.
16 Että hän särkee vaskiportit, ja rikkoo rautaiset salvat.
For He hath broken doors of brass, And bars of iron He hath cut.
17 Hullut, jotka rangaistiin ylitsekäymisensä tähden, ja synteinsä tähden,
Fools, by means of their transgression, And by their iniquities, afflict themselves.
18 Heidän sielunsa kauhistui kaikkea ruokaa, ja saivat kuolintautinsa.
All food doth their soul abominate, And they come nigh unto the gates of death,
19 Ja he huusivat Herraa tuskissansa, ja hän autti heitä heidän hädistänsä.
And cry unto Jehovah in their adversity, From their distresses He saveth them,
20 Hän lähetti sanansa ja paransi heitä, ja pelasti heitä, ettei he kuolleet.
He sendeth His word and healeth them, And delivereth from their destructions.
21 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee,
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,
22 Ja uhratkaan kiitosuhria, ja luetelkaan hänen tekojansa ilolla.
And they sacrifice sacrifices of thanksgiving, And recount His works with singing.
23 Jotka haaksilla meressä vaeltavat, ja asiansa toimittavat suurilla vesillä,
Those going down [to] the sea in ships, Doing business in many waters,
24 He näkivät Herran työt, ja hänen ihmeensä syvyydessä.
They have seen the works of Jehovah, And His wonders in the deep.
25 Kuin hän sanoi, ja paisutti suuren ilman, joka aallot nosti ylös,
And He saith, and appointeth a tempest, And it lifteth up its billows,
26 Niin he menivät ylös taivasta kohden ja menivät syvyyteen alas, että heidän sielunsa ahdistuksesta epäili,
They go up [to] the heavens, they go down [to] the depths, Their soul in evil is melted.
27 Että he horjuivat ja hoipertelivat niinkuin juopuneet, ja ei silleen neuvoa tietäneet;
They reel to and fro, and move as a drunkard, And all their wisdom is swallowed up.
28 Ja he huusivat Herraa tuskissansa, ja hän autti heitä heidän hädistänsä.
And they cry to Jehovah in their adversity, And from their distresses He bringeth them out.
29 Ja hän hillitsi kovan ilman, että aallot asettuivat.
He establisheth a whirlwind to a calm, And hushed are their billows.
30 Ja he tulivat iloisiksi, että tyveni, ja hän vei heitä satamaan heidän mielensä jälkeen.
And they rejoice because they are quiet, And He leadeth them to the haven of their desire.
31 Kiittäkään he siis Herraa hänen laupiutensa edestä, ja hänen ihmeittensä tähden, jotka hän ihmisten lasten kohtaan tekee.
They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men,
32 Ja ylistäkään häntä kansan seurakunnassa, ja kiittäkään häntä vanhimpain seassa,
And they exalt Him in the assembly of the people, And in the seat of the elders praise Him.
33 Joka virrat teki erämaaksi, ja vesilähteet kuivaksi maaksi,
He maketh rivers become a wilderness, And fountains of waters become dry land.
34 Ettei hedelmällinen maa mitään kantanut, heidän pahuutensa tähden, jotka siinä asuivat.
A fruitful land becometh a barren place, For the wickedness of its inhabitants.
35 Erämaan teki hän vesilammiksi ja kuivan maan vesilähteeksi,
He maketh a wilderness become a pool of water, And a dry land become fountains of waters.
36 Ja asetti sinne isoovaiset; ja he valmistivat siihen kaupunkia, jossa he asuivat,
And He causeth the hungry to dwell there, And they prepare a city of habitation.
37 Ja kylvivät pellot ja viinapuita istuttivat, ja saivat jokavuotisen hedelmän.
And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, And they make fruits of increase.
38 Ja hän siunasi heitä ja he sangen suuresti enenivät, ja hän antoi paljon karjaa heille;
And He blesseth them, and they multiply exceedingly, And their cattle He doth not diminish.
39 Jotka olivat painetut alas ja sorretut pahain väkivallalta ja ahdistukselta,
And they are diminished, and bow down, By restraint, evil, and sorrow.
40 Koska ylönkatse päämiesten päälle vuodatettu oli, ja kaikki maa eksyksissä ja autiona oli.
He is pouring contempt upon nobles, And causeth them to wander in vacancy — no way.
41 Ja hän varjeli köyhää raadollisuudesta, ja enensi hänen sukunsa niinkuin lauman.
And setteth on high the needy from affliction, And placeth families as a flock.
42 Näitä vanhurskaat näkevät ja iloitsevat, ja jokainen paha suu pitää tukittaman.
The upright do see and rejoice, And all perversity hath shut her mouth.
43 Kuka on taitava ja näitä kätkee, se ymmärtää Herran moninaisen laupiuden.
Who [is] wise, and observeth these? They understand the kind acts of Jehovah!
