Psalmien 105
1 Kiittäkäät Herraa, ja saarnatkaat hänen nimeänsä, julistakaat hänen töitänsä kansain seassa!
O give thanks unto the Lord; call on his name: make known among the people his deeds.
2 Veisatkaat hänelle, soittakaat hänelle, puhukaat kaikista hänen ihmeistänsä.
Sing unto, him, sing praises unto him: speak of all his wonderful works.
3 Ylistäkäät hänen pyhää nimeänsä: niiden sydän iloitkaan, jotka etsivät Herraa!
Glorify yourselves in his holy name: let the heart of those rejoice that seek the Lord.
4 Kysykäät Herraa ja hänen voimaansa, etsikäät alati hänen kasvojansa!
Inquire after the Lord and his strength: seek his presence evermore.
5 Muistakaat hänen ihmeellisiä töitänsä, jotka hän tehnyt on, hänen ihmeitänsä ja hänen sanojansa.
Remember his wonderful works which he hath done; his tokens, and the decrees of his mouth;
6 Te Abrahamin hänen palveliansa siemen, te Jakobin hänen valittunsa lapset.
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob, his elect.
7 Hänpä on Herra meidän Jumalamme: hän tuomitsee kaikessa maailmassa.
He is the Lord our God: over all the earth are his decrees.
8 Hän muistaa liittonsa ijankaikkisesti, sanansa, jonka hän on käskenyt tuhannelle sukukunnalle,
He remembereth his covenant for ever, the word which he hath commanded, to the thousandth generation.
9 Jonka hän teki Abrahamin kanssa, ja valansa Isaakin kanssa.
Which he covenanted with Abraham; and his oath unto Isaac;
10 Ja pani sen Jakobille säädyksi ja Israelille ijankaikkiseksi liitoksi,
And which he established unto Jacob as a statute, unto Israel as an everlasting covenant:
11 Ja sanoi: sinulle minä annan Kanaanin maan, teidän perimisenne arvan.
Saying, “Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, as the portion of your inheritance.”
12 Koska heitä vähä ja harvat olivat, ja he olivat muukalaiset siinä,
When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it;
13 Ja vaelsivat kansasta kansaan ja valtakunnasta toiseen kansaan:
And when they wandered from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people:
14 Ei hän sallinut yhdenkään ihmisen heitä vahingoittaa, vaan rankaisi kuninkaat heidän tähtensä.
He suffered no man to oppress them; yea, he reproved kings for their sake;
15 Älkäät ruvetko minun voideltuihini, ja älkäät tehkö pahaa minun prophetailleni.
[Saying, ] “Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm,”—
16 Ja hän kutsui nälän maan päälle, ja vei kaiken leivän varan pois.
And he called for a famine over the land; every staff of bread he broke.
17 Hän lähetti miehen heidän eteensä: Joseph myytiin orjaksi.
He sent a man before them; for a servant was Joseph sold;
18 He ahdistivat hänen jalkansa jalkapuuhun: hänen ruumiinsa täytyi raudoissa maata,
They forced into fetters his feet; in iron was his body put:
19 Siihenasti että hänen sanansa tuli, ja Herran puhe koetteli hänen.
Until the time that his word came to pass, [when] the saying of the Lord had purified him.
20 Niin lähetti kuningas ja päästi hänen: kansain päämies laski hänen vallallensa,
The king sent and unfettered him; the ruler of people, and let him go free.
21 Ja asetti hänen huoneensa herraksi, ja kaiken tavaransa haltiaksi,
He appointed him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possession:
22 Opettamaan päämiehiänsä oman tahtonsa jälkeen, ja vanhimmille viisautta.
That he might bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his ancients wisdom.
23 Ja Israel meni Egyptiin, ja Jakob tuli muukalaiseksi Hamin maalle.
Then came Israel into Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 Ja hän antoi kansansa sangen suuresti kasvaa, ja teki heitä väkevämmäksi kuin heidän vihollisensa.
And he increased his people greatly, and made them stronger than their adversaries.
25 Hän käänsi heidän sydämensä vihaamaan hänen kansaansa, ja hänen palvelioitansa viekkaudella painamaan alas.
He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilely with his servants.
26 Hän lähetti palveliansa Moseksen, ja Aaronin, jonka hän valitsi.
He sent Moses his servant, Aaron also whom he had made choice of.
27 Ne tekivät hänen merkkinsä heidän seassansa, ja hänen ihmeensä Hamin maalla.
They displayed among them his effective signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.
28 Hän antoi pimeyden tulla, ja sen pimeytti; ja ei olleet he hänen sanoillensa kuulemattomat.
He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.
29 Hän muutti heidän vetensä vereksi ja kuoletti heidän kalansa.
He changed their waters into blood, and slew their fish.
30 Heidän maansa kuohutti sammakoita, heidän kuningastensa kammioissa.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the very chambers of their kings.
31 Hän sanoi, niin turilaat ja täit tulivat heidän maansa ääriin.
He spoke, and there came various wild beasts, lice also within all their boundary.
32 Hän antoi rakeet heille sateeksi, tulen liekit heidän maallensa,
He gave them as their rain hail, and flames of fire in their land.
33 Ja löi heidän viinapuunsa ja fikunapuunsa, ja särki puut heidän maansa äärissä.
And he smote their vines and their fig-trees, and broke the trees within their boundary.
34 Hän sanoi, niin tulivat epälukuiset paarmat ja vapsaiset,
He spoke, and the locusts came, and crickets, and that without number;
35 Ja ne söivät kaiken ruohon heidän maaltansa, ja ne söivät heidän maansa hedelmän.
And they ate up all the herbs in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 Ja hän löi kaikki esikoiset heidän maallansa, ensimäiset kaikesta heidän voimastansa,
And he smote all the first-born in their land, the first of all their strength.
37 Ja vei heitä hopialla ja kullalla ulos: ja ei ollut heidän sukukunnissansa yksikään sairas.
And he brought them forth with silver and gold: and there was not one that stumbled among his tribes.
38 Egypti iloitsi heidän lähtemisestänsä; sillä heidän pelkonsa oli tullut heidän päällensä.
Egypt rejoiced when they departed; for the dread of them was fallen upon them.
39 Hän levitti pilven verhoksi ja tulen yötä valistamaan.
He spread out a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light in the night.
40 He anoivat, niin antoi hän metsäkanat tulla, ja ravitsi heitä taivaan leivällä.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and with heavenly bread he satisfied them.
41 Hän avasi kallion, niin vesi vuoti, ja virrat juoksivat kuivaa myöten.
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out: they ran in the dry places like a river.
42 Sillä hän muisti pyhän sanansa, jonka hän palveliallensa Abrahamille puhunut oli,
For he remembered his holy word given to Abraham his servant.
43 Ja vei kansansa ilolla ulos, ja valittunsa riemulla,
And he brought forth his people with gladness, with joyful song his elect.
44 Ja antoi heille pakanain maan, niin että he kansain hyvyydet omistivat heillensä.
And he gave them the lands of nations; and the labor of people they obtained as an inheritance:
45 Että he pitäisivät hänen säätynsä, ja hänen lakinsa kätkisivät, Halleluja!
So that they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Hallelujah.
