Psalmien 104
1 Kiitä Herraa, sieluni! Herra, minun Jumalani, sinä olet sangen suuresti kunnioitettu, suurella kunnialla ja kaunistuksella olet sinä puetettu.
[A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you have clothed yourself with praise and honor:
2 Sinä puetat itses valkeudella niinkuin vaatteella: sinä levität taivaat niinkuin peitteen.
who do robe yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain.
3 Sinä peität sen päällyksen vedellä: sinä menet pilvissä niinkuin ratasten päällä, ja käyt tuulen siipein päällä.
Who covers his chambers with waters; who makes the clouds his chariot; who walks on the wings of the wind.
4 Sinä teet enkelis hengeksi ja palvelias liekitseväiseksi tuleksi.
Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flaming fire.
5 Sinä joka maan perustit perustuksensa päälle, ettei sen pidä liikkuman ijankaikkisesti.
Who establishes the earth on her sure foundation: it shall not be moved for ever.
6 Syvyydellä sinä sen peität niinkuin vaatteella, ja vedet seisovat vuorilla.
The deep, as it were a garment, is his covering: the waters shall stand on the hills.
7 Mutta sinun nuhtelemisestas he pakenevat: sinun jylinästäs he menevät pois.
At your rebuke they shall flee; at the voice of your thunder they shall be alarmed.
8 Vuoret astuvat ylös, ja laaksot astuvat alas siallensa, johon heidät perustanut olet.
They go up to the mountains, and down to the plains, to the place which you have founded for them.
9 Määrän sinä panit, jota ei he käy ylitse, eikä palaja maata peittämään.
You have set a bound which they shall not pass, neither shall they turn again to cover the earth.
10 Sinä annat lähteet laaksoissa kuohua, niin että ne vuorten välitse vuotavat;
He sends forth his fountains among the valleys: the waters shall run between the mountains.
11 Että kaikki eläimet metsässä joisivat, ja että pedot janonsa sammuttaisivat.
They shall give drink to all the wild beasts of the field: the wild asses shall take [of them] to [quench] their thirst.
12 Heidän tykönänsä istuvat taivaan linnut, ja visertävät oksilla.
By them shall the birds of the sky lodge: they shall utter a voice out of the midst of the rocks.
13 Sinä liotat vuoret ylhäältä: sinä täytät maan hedelmällä, jonka sinä saatat.
He waters the mountains from his chambers: the earth shall be satisfied with the fruit of your works.
14 Sinä kasvatat ruohon karjalle, ja jyvät ihmisten tarpeeksi, tuottaakses leipää maasta.
He makes grass to grow for the cattle, and green herb for the service of men, to bring bread out of the earth;
15 Ja että viina ihmisen sydämen ilahuttaa, ja hänen kasvonsa kaunistuu öljystä: ja leipä vahvistaa ihmisen sydämen.
and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face cheerful with oil: and bread strengthens man's heart.
16 Että Herran puut nesteestä täynnä olisivat: Libanonin sedripuut, jotka hän on istuttanut;
The trees of the plain shall be full [of sap]; [even] the cedars of Libanus which he has planted.
17 Siellä linnut pesiä tekevät, ja haikarat hongissa asuvat.
There the sparrows will build their nests; and the house of the heron takes the lead among them.
18 Korkiat vuoret ovat metsävuohten turva, ja kivirauniot kaninein.
The high mountains are a refuge for the stags, [and] the rock for the rabbits.
19 Sinä teet kuun aikoja jakamaan, ja aurinko tietää laskemisensa.
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knows his going down.
20 Sinä teet pimeyden ja yö tulee: silloin kaikki metsän eläimet tulevat ulos.
You did make darkness, and it was night; in it all the wild beasts of the forest will be abroad:
21 Nuoret jalopeurat saaliin perään kiljuvat, ja elatustansa Jumalalta etsivät.
[even] young lions roaring for prey, and to seek meat for themselves from God.
22 Mutta kuin aurinko koittaa, niin he kokoontuvat, ja luolissansa makaavat.
The sun arises, and they shall be gathered together, and shall lie down in their dens.
23 Niin menee myös ihminen työhönsä, ja askareillensa ehtoosen asti.
Man shall go forth to his work, and to his labor till evening.
24 Herra, kuinka suuret ja monet ovat sinun käsialas? Sinä olet kaikki taitavasti säätänyt, ja maa on täynnä sinun tavaraas.
How great are your works, O Lord! in wisdom have you wrought them all: the earth is filled with your creation.
25 Tämä meri, joka niin suuri ja lavia on, siinä epälukuiset liikuvat, sekä pienet että suuret eläimet;
[So is] this great and wide sea: there are things creeping innumerable, small animals and great.
26 Siellä haahdet kuljeskelevat: siinä valaskalat ovat, jotkas tehnyt olet, leikitsemään hänessä.
There go the ships; [and] this dragon whom you have made to play in it.
27 Kaikki odottavat sinua, ettäs heille antaisit ruan ajallansa.
All wait upon you, to give them [their] food in due season.
28 Koskas heille annat, niin he kokoovat: koskas kätes avaat, niin he hyvyydellä ravitaan.
When you have given [it] them, they will gather [it]; and when you have opened your hand, they shall all be filled with good.
29 Jos sinä kasvos peität, niin he hämmästyvät: koska sinä otat heidän henkensä pois, niin he hukkuvat, ja tomuksi tulevat jälleen.
But when you have turned away your face, they shall be troubled: you will take away their breath, and they shall fail, and return to their dust.
30 Sinä lähetät ulos henkes, niin he luoduksi tulevat, ja sinä uudistat maan muodon.
You shall send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created; and you shall renew the face of the earth.
31 Herran kunnia pysyy ijankaikkisesti: Herra iloitsee töissänsä.
Let the glory of the Lord be for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works;
32 Hän katsahtaa maan päälle, niin se vapisee: hän rupee vuoriin, niin ne suitsevat.
who looks upon the earth, and makes it tremble; who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 Minä veisaan Herralle minun elinaikanani, ja kiitän minun Jumalaani niinkauvan kuin minä olen.
I will sing to the Lord while I live; I will sing praise to my God while I exist.
34 Minun puheeni kelpaa hänelle, ja minä iloitsen Herrassa.
Let my meditation be sweet to him: and I will rejoice in the Lord.
35 Syntiset maalta lopetetaan, ja jumalattomat ei pidä silleen oleman: kiitä Herraa, sieluni, Halleluja!
Let the sinners fail from off the earth, and transgressors, so that they shall be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
