15 Verenimijällä on kaksi tytärtä: tuo tänne, tuo tänne. Kolme on tyytymätöintä, ja tosin neljä ei sano kyllä olevan:

18 Kolme minulle ovat ihmeelliset, ja neljää en minä tiedä:

21 Kolmen kautta maakunta tulee levottomuuteen, ja tosin neljää hän ei voi kärsiä:
The erthe is moued bi thre thingis, and the fourthe thing, which it may not susteyne;
22 Kuin palvelia rupee hallitsemaan, kuin hullu ylen ravituksi tulee,
bi a seruaunt, whanne he regneth; bi a fool, whanne he is fillid with mete;
23 Kuin ilkiä naitetaan, ja kuin piika tulee emäntänsä perilliseksi.
bi an hateful womman, whanne sche is takun in matrymonye; and bi an handmaide, whanne sche is eir of hir ladi.
24 Neljä on pientä maan päällä, ja ovat toimellisemmat viisaita.
Foure ben the leeste thingis of erthe, and tho ben wisere than wise men;
25 Myyriäiset, heikko väki, jotka kuitenkin elatuksensa suvella toimittavat;
amtis, a feble puple, that maken redi mete in heruest to hem silf;
26 Kaninit, heikko väki, jotka kuitenkin pesänsä kalliolle tekevät;
a hare, a puple vnmyyti, that settith his bed in a stoon;
27 Heinäsirkoilla ei ole kuningasta, kuitenkin he lähtevät kaikki ylös joukossansa;
a locust hath no kyng, and al goith out bi cumpanyes; an euete enforsith with hondis,

29 Kolmella on jalo käyntö, ja tosin neljä astuu hyvin:
