1 Ja Herra puhui Mosekselle Sinain korvessa, seurakunnan majassa, ensimäisenä päivänä toisena kuukautena, toisena vuonna jälkeen, sittekuin he olivat lähteneet Egyptin maalta, ja sanoi:
And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after their going out of the land of Egypt, saying,

Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, every male according to their polls;

From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: these shall ye number according to their armies, thou and Aaron.

And with you there shall be one man each of every tribe; a man who is the head of his family division.

And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you; of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.
6 Simeonista, Selumiel Suri-Saddain poika;
Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
7 Juudasta, Nahesson Amminadabin poika;
Of Judah: Nachshon the son of 'Amminadab.
8 Isaskarista, Netaneel Suarin poika;
Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.
9 Sebulonista, Eliab Helonin poika;
Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Chelon.
10 Josephin pojista: Ephraimista, Elisama Ammihudin poika; Manassesta, Gamliel Pedatsurin poika;
Of the children of Joseph, of Ephraim: Elishama the son of 'Ammihud; of Menasseh: Gamliel the son of Pedahzur.
11 BenJaminista, Abidan Gideonin poika;
Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gidoni.
12 Danista, Ahieser Ammi Saddain poika;
Of Dan: Achiezer the son of 'Ammishaddai.
13 Asserista, Pagiel Okranin poika;
Of Asher: Pagiel the son of 'Ochran.
14 Gadista, Eliasaph Deguelin poika;
Of Gad: Elyassaph the son of Deuel.
15 Naphtalista, Ahira Enan poika.
Of Naphtali: Achira the son of 'Enan.
16 Nämät olivat kutsutut kansan seasta, isäinsä sukuin esimiehet, jotka olivat Israelin tuhanten päät.
These were the selected of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; the heads of the thousands of Israel were they.

And Moses and Aaron took these men who are expressed by name:

And all the congregation they assembled together on the first day of the second month, and they were enrolled in the lists of their pedigrees after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, according to their polls.
19 Niinkuin Herra oli käskenyt Mosekselle, niin luki hän heitä Sinain korvessa.
As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did he number them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20 Rubenin Israelin esikoisen lapset olivat heidän polviluvuissansa, sukunsa ja isäinsä huonetten jälkeen, nimenomattain, mies mieheltä kaikki miehenpuoli, kahdenkymmenen vuotisista ja sen ylitse, kaikki kelvolliset sotaan menemään,
And there were of the children of Reuben the first-born of Israel, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
21 Luetut Rubenin sukukuntaan, kuusiviidettäkymmentä tuhatta ja viisisataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
22 Simeonin lapset ja heidän polvilukunsa, sukunsa ja isäinsä huonetten jälkeen, luetut nimenomattain mies mieheltä, kaikki miehenpuoli kahdenkymmenen vuotisista ja sen ylitse, kaikki sotaan menemään kelvolliset,
Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, those that were numbered of them, by numbering the names according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
23 Luetut Simeonin sukukuntaan, yhdeksänkuudettakymmentä tuhatta ja kolmesataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
24 Gadin lapset ja heidän polvilukunsa, sukunsa ja isäinsä huonetten jälkeen, nimenomattain kahdenkymmenen vuotisista ja sen ylitse, kaikki sotaan menemään kelvolliset,
Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
25 Luetut Gadin sukukuntaan, viisiviidettäkymmentä tuhatta, kuusisataa ja viisikymmentä.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.
26 Juudan lasten polviluku, heidän sukunsa ja isäinsä huonetten jälkeen, nimenomattain kahdenkymmenen vuotisista ja sen ylitse, kaikki sotaan menemään kelvolliset,

27 Luetut Juudan sukukuntaan, neljäkahdeksattakymmentä tuhatta ja kuusisataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Judah, were seventy and four thousand and six hundred.
28 Isaskarin lasten polviluku, heidän sukunsa ja isäinsä huonetten jälkeen, nimenomattain kahdenkymmenen vuotisista ja sen ylitse, kaikki sotaan menemään kelvolliset,

29 Luetut Isaskarin sukukuntaan, neljäkuudettakymmentä tuhatta ja neljäsataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

32 Josephin lapset: Ephraimin lapsista polvilukunsa, sukunsa ja isäinsä huonetten jälkeen, nimenomattain kahdenkymmenen vuotisista ja sen ylitse, kaikki sotaan menemään kelvolliset,
Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war.
33 Luetut Ephraimin sukukuntaan olivat neljäkymmentätuhatta ja viisisataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.
34 Manassen lapset polvilukunsa, sukunsa ja isäinsä huonetten jälkeen, nimenomattain kahdenkymmenen vuotisista ja sen ylitse, kaikki jotka sotaan menemään kelpasivat,
Of the children of Menasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the descent from their fathers, by numbering the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
35 Luetut Manassen sukukuntaan, kaksineljättäkymmentä tuhatta ja kaksisataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Menasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

39 Luetut Danin sukukuntaan, kaksiseitsemättäkymmentä tuhatta ja seitsemänsataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Dan, were sixty and two thousand and seven hundred.

41 Luetut Asserin sukukuntaan, yksiviidettäkymmentä tuhatta ja viisisataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

43 Luetut Naphtalin sukukuntaan, kolmekuudettakymmentä tuhatta ja neljäsataa.
Those that were numbered of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
44 Nämät ovat ne luetut, jotka Moses ja Aaron ja kaksitoistakymmentä Israelin päämiestä lukivat, joista aina yksi oli jokaisen heidän isänsä huoneen ylitse.
These are those that were numbered, whom Moses numbered with Aaron, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men; one man each for his family division were they.

46 Ja olivat kaikki luetut, kuusi kertaa satatuhatta ja kolmetuhatta ja viisisataa ja viisikymmentä.
Even all they that were numbered, were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47 Mutta Leviläiset heidän isäinsä sukukunnan jälkeen ei olleet heidän lukuunsa luetut.
But the Levites, after the tribe of their fathers, were not numbered among them.
48 Ja Herra puhui Mosekselle, sanoen:
For the Lord had spoken unto Moses, saying,
49 Ei kuitenkaan pidä sinun lukeman Levin sukukuntaa, eli ottaman heistä päälukua, Israelin lasten seassa;
Only the tribe of Levi shalt thou not number, and their sum shalt thou not take, among the children of Israel;
50 Mutta sinun pitää asettaman Leviläiset todistuksen majan palvelukseen, ja kaikkein sen astiain päälle, ja kaikkein mitkä sen omat ovat. Heidän pitää kantaman majan, ja kaikki sen astiat, ja heidän pitää ottaman vaarin siitä, ja sioittaman itsensä majan ympärille.
But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all things that belong to it: they shall carry the tabernacle, and all its vessels; and they shall minister unto it; and round about the tabernacle shall they encamp.
51 Ja kuin matkustetaan, silloin pitää Leviläisten ottaman majan alas, ja koska joukko itsensä sioittaa, pitää heidän paneman sen ylös. Jos joku muukalainen lähestyy sitä, sen pitää kuoleman.
And when the tabernacle is to be carried forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
52 Israelin lapset pitää sioittaman itsensä kukin leirinsä ja joukkonsa lipun tykö.
And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their armies.
53 Mutta Leviläiset pitää sioittaman itsensä todistuksen majan ympärille, ettei viha tulisi Israelin lasten joukon päälle. Sentähden pitää Leviläisten pitämän vaarin todistuksen majan vartiosta.
But the Levites shall encamp round shout the tabernacle of the testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.
54 Ja Israelin lapset tekivät sen: kaikki mitä Herra Mosekselle käskenyt oli, niin he tekivät.
And the children of Israel did so: all, just as the Lord had commanded Moses, so did they.
