Matteuksen 9
1 Ja hän astui haahteen, meni jälleen ylitse ja tuli omaan kaupunkiinsa.
And having embarked into the ship, He crossed over, and came into His own city.
2 Ja katso, he toivat hänen eteensä halvatun, joka makasi vuoteella. Ja kuin Jesus näki heidän uskonsa, sanoi hän halvatulle: poikani, ole hyvässä turvassa, syntis annetaan anteeksi sinulle.
And behold, they were bringing to Him a paralyzed man, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, Be of good cheer, child, thy sins are forgiven thee.
3 Ja katso, muutamat kirjanoppineista sanoivat keskenänsä: tämä pilkkaa (Jumalaa).
And behold, certain ones of the scribes said among themselves; This man blasphemeth.
4 Ja kuin Jesus näki heidän ajatuksensa, sanoi hän: miksi ajattelette pahaa sydämessänne?
And Jesus seeing their thoughts said, Why do you think evil in your hearts?
5 Sillä kumpi on keviämpi sanoa: synnit annetaan anteeksi sinulle, taikka sanoa: nouse ja käy?
For whether is it easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or, Arise, and walk about?
6 Mutta että teidän pitää tietämän Ihmisen Pojalla olevan vallan maan päällä synnit anteeksi antaa, (niin sanoi hän halvatulle: ) nouse ja ota vuotees, ja mene kotias.
But in order that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then He says to the paralytic), Having arisen, take thy bed, and depart into thy house.
7 Ja hän nousi ja meni kotiansa.
And having arisen, he came away to his own house.
8 Ja kuin kansa sen näki, ihmettelivät he ja kunnioittivat Jumalaa, joka oli ihmisille antanut senkaltaisen vallan.
And the multitude seeing, were astonished, and glorified God, who giveth such power to men.
9 Ja kuin Jesus sieltä kävi ohitse, näki hän ihmisen istuvan tullihuoneessa, nimeltä Matteus, ja sanoi hänelle: seuraa minua. Niin hän nousi ja seurasi häntä.
And Jesus passing along from thence, saw a man sitting at the toll, called Matthew; and He says to him, Follow me. And having arisen up, he followed Him.
10 Ja tapahtui, kuin hän atrioitsi huoneessa, katso, niin tuli monta Publikania ja syntistä, ja atrioitsivat Jesuksen ja hänen opetuslastensa kanssa.
And it came to pass, He was sitting at the table in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners, having come were sitting along with Jesus and His disciples.
11 Ja kuin Pharisealaiset sen näkivät, sanoivat he hänen opetuslapsillensa: miksi teidän Mestarinne syö Publikanien ja syntisten kanssa?
And the Pharisees seeing, said to His disciples, Wherefore does your teacher eat with publicans and sinners?
12 Mutta kuin Jesus sen kuuli, sanoi hän heille: ei terve tarvitse parantajaa, vaan sairaat.
And Jesus hearing said to them, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick.
13 Mutta menkäät ja oppikaat, mikä se on: laupiutta minä tahdon, enkä uhria; sillä en minä tullut vanhurskaita kutsumaan, vaan syntisiä parannukseen.
But having gone, learned what this is, I wish mercy and not sacrifice: for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
14 Silloin tulivat Johanneksen opetuslapset hänen tykönsä, ja sanoivat: minkätähden me ja Pharisealaiset niin paljo paastoomme, mutta ei sinun opetuslapses paastoo?
Then the disciples of John come to Him, saying, Wherefore do we and the Pharisee fast, but thy disciples do not fast?
15 Niin Jesus sanoi heille: taitaako hääjoukko niinkauvan murehtia, kuin ylkä on heidän kanssansa? mutta päivät tulevat, että ylkä otetaan heiltä pois, ja silloin heidän pitää paastooman.
And Jesus said to them, The sons of the bride-chamber are not able to fast, so long as the bridegroom is with them. But the day will come, when the bride-groom must be taken from them, and then they will fast.
16 Mutta ei kenkään paikkaa vanhaa vaatetta uuden veran tilalla; sillä paikka repee pois vaatteesta, ja läpi tulee pahemmaksi.
But no one puts a piece of new cloth on an old garment; for it takes its fullness from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
17 Ei myös pane kenkään nuorta viinaa vanhoihin leileihin; muutoin leilit pakahtuvat, ja viina vuotaa pois, ja leilit turmellaan; vaan nuorta viinaa lasketaan uusiin leileihin, ja niin he molemmat tähdellä ovat.
Neither do they put new wine in old bottles: lest the bottles are broken, and the wine poured out, and the bottles shall perish: but they put the new wine into the new bottles, and both are preserved.
18 Kuin hän nämät heille puhunut oli, katso, niin päämies tuli ja kumarsi häntä, sanoen: nyt on minun tyttäreni kuolemallansa; mutta tule ja pane kätes hänen päällensä, niin hän virkoaa.
And He speaking these things to them, behold a certain ruler having come, continued to worship Him, saying, My daughter just now died: but having come put your hand on her, and she shall live.
19 Niin Jesus nousi ja seurasi häntä, ja hänen opetuslapsensa.
And Jesus having risen, follows him, and His disciples.
20 Ja katso, vaimo, joka oli kaksitoistakymmentä ajastaikaa punaista tautia sairastanut, kävi takana, ja tarttui hänen vaatteensa liepeeseen;
And behold, a woman, having an issue of blood twelve years, and coming to Him behind, touched the hem of His garment.
21 Sillä hän oli itsellensä sanonut; jos minä ainoastaan rupeen hänen vaatteesensa, niin minä tulen terveeksi.
For she continued to say within herself, If I may only touch His garment, I will be saved.
22 Niin Jesus käänsi itsensä, näki hänen ja sanoi: ole hyvässä turvassa, tyttäreni! sinun uskos on sinun terveeksi tehnyt. Ja vaimo tuli sillä hetkellä terveeksi.
And the woman was saved from that hour. And Jesus turning and seeing her said, Be of good cheer, daughter; thy faith hath saved thee.
23 Ja kuin Jesus tuli päämiehen huoneeseen, ja näki pillein soittajat ja kansan hymisevän,
And Jesus having come into the house of the ruler, and seeing the flute-players, and the weeping crowd,
24 Sanoi hän heille: menkäät pois; sillä ei piika ole kuollut, vaan hän makaa. Ja he nauroivat häntä.
says to them; Retire: for the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they hooted at Him.
25 Mutta kuin kansa oli ajettu ulos, meni hän sisälle ja tarttui hänen käteensä, ja piika nousi.
And when the crowd was put out, coming to her, He took her by the hand, and the damsel arose.
26 Ja sen sanoma kuului kaikkeen siihen maahan.
And this news went out into that whole country.
27 Ja kuin Jesus sieltä läksi, seurasi häntä kaksi sokiaa, huutain ja sanoen: Davidin poika, armahda meitä.
And two blind men followed Him, going thence, crying out, and saying,
28 Ja kuin hän tuli huoneeseen, tulivat sokiat hänen tykönsä, ja Jesus sanoi heille: uskotteko minun sen voivan teille tehdä? He sanoivat hänelle: Herra, me uskomme.
Have mercy on us, thou Son of David. And the blind men came to Him, having come into the house: and Jesus says to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They say to Him, Yea, Lord.
29 Niin hän rupesi heidän silmiinsä, sanoen: tapahtukoon teille uskonne jälkeen.
Then He touched their eyes, saying, Be it unto you according to your faith.
30 Ja heidän silmänsä aukenivat. Niin Jesus haastoi heitä, sanoen: katsokaat, ettei kenkään saa tätä tietää.
And their eyes were opened. And Jesus charged them, saying, See that no one know it.
31 Vaan kuin he menivät pois, niin he julistivat hänen sanomansa kaikessa siinä maassa.
But they having gone out, spread abroad His fame in all that country.
32 Kuin nämät olivat menneet ulos, katso, niin he toivat mykän ja pirulta riivatun ihmisen hänen eteensä.
And they going out, behold, they brought to Him a dumb man, demonized.
33 Ja kuin perkele oli ajettu ulos, niin mykkä puhui. Ja kansa ihmetteli ja sanoi: ei senkaltaista ole ikänä Israelissa nähty.
And the demon having been cast out, the dumb spoke. And the multitudes were astonished, saying,
34 Mutta Pharisealaiset sanoivat: hän ajaa ulos perkeleet perkeleitten pääruhtinasten kautta.
Never did it so appear in Israel. And the Pharisees continued to say, He casts out the demons through the prince of the demons.
35 Ja Jesus kävi kaikkia kaupungeita ja kyliä ympäri, ja opetti heidän synagogissansa, ja saarnasi valtakunnan evankeliumia, ja paransi kaikkinaisia tauteja ja kaikkea sairautta kansassa.
And Jesus was going around all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and ailment.
36 Ja kuin hän näki kansat, armahti hän heidän päällensä, että he olivat niin nääntyneet ja hajoitetut kuin lampaat, joilla ei ole paimenta.
And seeing the multitudes, He was moved in compassion in their behalf, because they were fleeced and deserted, as sheep having no shepherd.
37 Silloin hän sanoi opetuslapsillensa: eloa on tosin paljo, mutta työväkeä on vähä.
Then He says to His disciples, The harvest truly is great and the laborers are few;
38 Rukoilkaat sentähden elon Herraa, että hän työväkeä lähettäis eloonsa.
therefore pray the Lord of the harvest that he may send forth laborers into His harvest.
