Luukkaan 18
1 Niin hän sanoi myös heille vertauksen, että aina tulee rukoilla ja ei väsyä,
Then Jesus told them a parable about the need to pray at all times and not lose heart.
2 Sanoen: yksi tuomari oli yhdessä kaupungissa, joka ei peljännyt Jumalaa eikä hävennyt ihmisiä.
He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man.
3 Niin oli myös yksi leski siinä kaupungissa, joka tuli hänen tykönsä, sanoen: auta minua riitaveljeltäni.
There was also a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’
4 Ja ei hän tahtonut kauvan aikaa. Mutta viimein sanoi hän itsellensä: vaikka en minä Jumalaa pelkää, enkä häpee ihmisiä,
For a while he would not do so, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man,
5 Kuitenkin, että tämä leski vaivaa minua, tahdon minä häntä auttaa, ettei hän viimein tulisi ja nurisisi minua.
yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not wear me out by continually coming to me.’”
6 Niin Herra sanoi: kuulkaat, mitä tämä väärä tuomari sanoo:
Then the Lord said, “Consider what this unrighteous judge said.
7 Eikös Jumalan pitäisi valituita auttaman, jotka yötä ja päivää häntä huutavat, pitäiskö hänen sitä kärsimän?
If even he ultimately rendered a just decision, will not God patiently listen to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night, and give them justice?
8 Minä sanon teille: hän auttaa heitä pian. Kuitenkin, kuin Ihmisen Poika on tuleva, löytäneekö hän uskoa maan päältä?
I tell you that he will bring about justice for them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

He also told this parable to some who were confident in their own righteous and regarded others with contempt:
10 Kaksi ihmistä meni ylös templiin rukoilemaan, yksi Pharisealainen ja toinen Publikani.
“Two men went up to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.
11 Pharisealainen seisoi ja rukoili näin itsellensä: minä kiitän sinua, Jumala, etten minä ole niinkuin muut ihmiset, ryöväri, väärä, huorintekiä, taikka myös niinkuin tämä Publikani.
The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed like this: ‘God, I thank yoʋ that I am not like other people: swindlers, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 Kahdesti viikossa minä paastoon, ja annan kymmenykset kaikista mitä minulla on.
I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of all that I get.’
13 Ja Publikani seisoi taampana, eikä tahtonut silmiänsäkään nostaa ylös taivaasen päin, mutta löi rintoihinsa ja sanoi: Jumala, armahda minun syntisen päälleni!
But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
14 Minä sanon teille: tämä meni kotiansa hurskaampana kuin toinen; sillä jokainen joka itsensä ylentää, se alennetaan, ja joka itsensä alentaa, se ylennetään.
I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other one. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
15 Niin he toivat myös hänen tykönsä lapsia, että hän heihin rupeais. Mutta kuin opetuslapset sen näkivät, nuhtelivat he niitä.
Now people were even bringing their babies to Jesus so that he might touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked those who were bringing them,
16 Mutta kuin Jesus oli heitä kutsunut tykönsä, sanoi hän: sallikaat lasten tulla minun tyköni, ja älkäät heitä kieltäkö; sillä senkaltaisten on Jumalan valtakunta.
but Jesus called for them and said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
17 Totisesti sanon minä teille: joka ei ota vastaan Jumalan valtakuntaa niinkuin lapsi, ei hän ikinä siihen tule siihen sisälle.
Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will certainly not enter it.”
18 Ja häneltä kysyi yksi päämiehistä ja sanoi: hyvä Mestari, mitä minun pitää tekemän, että minä ijankaikkisen elämän saisin? (aiōnios g166)
Then a certain ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
19 Niin Jesus sanoi hänelle: mitäs minua hyväksi kutsut? Ei ole kenenkään hyvä, vaan yksi, Jumala.
Jesus said to him, “Why do yoʋ call me good? No one is good except God alone.
20 Käskysanat sinä tiedät: ei sinun pidä huorin tekemän: ei sinun pidä tappaman: ei sinun pidä varastaman: ei sinun pidä väärää todistusta sanoman: kunnioita isääs ja äitiäs.
Yoʋ know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not give false testimony, Honor yoʋr father and yoʋr mother.’”
21 Niin hän sanoi: nämät kaikki olen minä minun nuoruudestani pitänyt.
The man said, “I have kept all these commandments from the time I was a young boy.”
22 Kuin Jesus sen kuuli, sanoi hän hänelle: yksi sinulta vielä puuttuu: myy kaikki, mitä sinulla on ja vaivaisille, niin sinulla pitä oleman tavara taivaassa: ja tule, seuraa minua.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing yoʋ still lack: Sell everything yoʋ have and distribute the money to the poor, and yoʋ will have treasure in heaven; then come follow me.”
23 Vaan kuin hän sen kuuli, tuli hän murheelliseksi; sillä hän oli sangen rikas.
But when the man heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was extremely rich.
24 Mutta kuin Jesus näki hänen murheissansa olevan, sanoi hän: kuinka työläästi rikkaat tulevat Jumalan valtakuntaan;
When Jesus saw that the man had become very sorrowful, he said, “How difficult it will be for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!
25 Sillä huokiampi on kamelin käydä neulan silmän lävitse, kuin rikkaan tulla Jumalan valtakuntaan.
For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Niin he sanoivat, jotka sen kuulivat: ja kuka taitaa autuaaksi tulla?
Those who heard this said, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Mutta hän sanoi: ne mitkä ovat mahdottomat ihmisten tykönä, ne ovat mahdolliset Jumalan tykönä.
Jesus said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
28 Niin Pietari sanoi: katso, me jätimme kaikki ja seurasimme sinua.
Then Peter said, “Behold, we have left everything and followed yoʋ.”
29 Vaan hän sanoi heille: totisesti sanon minä teille: ei ole kenkään, joka jätti huoneen taikka vanhemmat taikka veljet taikka emännän taikka lapset Jumalan valtakunnan tähden,
Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, parents, brothers, wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
31 Ja hän otti tykönsä ne kaksitoistakymmentä, ja sanoi heille: katso, me menemme Jerusalemiin, ja kaikki pitää täytettämän mitkä prophetailta Ihmisen Pojasta kirjoitetut ovat.
Then Jesus took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
32 Sillä hän annetaan ylön pakanoille, ja pilkataan, ja häväistään, ja syljetään.
For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, and he will be mocked, insulted, and spit upon.
33 Ja kuin he ovat hänen ruoskineet, tappavat he hänen, ja kolmantena päivänä on hän nouseva ylös.
After flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again.”
34 Ja ei he mitään näistä ymmärtäneet. Ja tämä puhe oli heiltä niin peitetty, ettei he ymmärtäneet, mitä sanottiin.
But the disciples did not understand any of these things; this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend what was being said.
35 Niin tapahtui, kuin hän Jerikoa lähestyi, että yksi sokia istui tien vieressä kerjäten,
As Jesus drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging.
36 Ja kuin hän kuuli kansan käyvän ohitse, kysyi hän, mikä se olis?
When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was happening.
37 He sanoivat hänelle: Jesus Natsarealainen tästä meni.
They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 Ja hän huusi ja sanoi: Jesus, Davidin Poika, armahda minua!
So he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 Niin ne, jotka menivät ohitse, toruivat häntä vaikenemaan. Mutta hän huusi sitä enemmin: Davidin Poika, armahda minua!
Then those who were out in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 Niin Jesus seisahti ja käski häntä taluttaa tykönsä. Ja kuin hän lähestyi, kysyi hän häneltä,
So Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When the man drew near, Jesus asked him,
41 Sanoen: mitäs tahdot, että minun pitää sinulle tekemän? Hän sanoi: Herra, että minä näköni jälleen saisin.
“What do yoʋ want me to do for yoʋ?” He said, “Lord, I want to receive my sight.”
42 Ja Jesus sanoi hänelle: ole näkevä! sinun uskos autti sinua.
So Jesus said to him, “Receive yoʋr sight; yoʋr faith has healed yoʋ.”
43 Ja hän sai kohta näkönsä, ja seurasi häntä, ja kunnioitti Jumalaa. Ja kaikki kansa, jotka sen näkivät, kiittivät Jumalaa.
Immediately he received his sight and began following Jesus, glorifying God. And when all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.
