1 Ja tapahtui, että kuin Jobin Hatsorin kuningas sen kuuli, lähetti hän Jobabin Madonin kuninkaan tykö, ja Simronin kuninkaan, ja Akasaphin kuninkaan tykö,
And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor heard, that he sent unto Jobab king of Madon, and unto the king of Shimron, and unto the king of Achshaph;
2 Ja niiden kuningasten tykö, jotka asuivat pohjan puolella vuorella, ja lakeudella, meren puolella Kinerotista, ja laaksoissa, ja Dorin Naphotissa meren puolella,
and unto the kings who were on the north in the hill country and in the waste plain south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, —and in the heights of Dor, on the west:
3 Kanaanealaisten tykö idän ja lännen puoleen, Amorilaisten, Hetiläisten, Pheresiläisten ja Jebusilaisten tykö vuorelle, niin hyös Heviläisten tykö alapuolella Hermonin vuorta Mitspan maakunnassa.
the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite and the Jebusite, in the hill country, —and the Hivite, under Hermon, in the land of Mizpah;
4 Ja nämät läksivät kaiken sotajoukkonsa kanssa, joka oli sangen suuri kansan paljous, niinkuin santa meren rannalla paljouden tähden, ja sangen monta hevosta ja vaunua.
and they came out—they, and all their hosts with them, much people, like the sand that is upon the seashore for multitude, —with horses and chariots very many.
5 Kaikki nämät kuninkaat kokoontuivat ja he tulivat ja sioittivat heitänsä yhteen Meromin vetten tykönä, sotimaan Israelia vastaan.
And, when all these kings were gathered together, they came in, and encamped as one man, at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
6 Ja Herra sanoi Josualle: älä heitä ensinkään pelkää, sillä huomenna tällä ajalla minä annan heidät kaikki lyötynä Israelin kansan eteen; heidän hevosensa pitää sinun rivinomaksi tekemän ja heidän vaununsa tulella polttaman.
Then said Yahweh unto Joshua—Do not fear because of them, for, to-morrow, about this time, am I going to deliver up all of them, slain, before Israel, —their horses, shalt thou ham-string, and, their chariots, shalt thou burn up with fire.
7 Ja Josua tuli ja kaikki sotajoukko hänen kanssansa äkisti heidän päällensä, Meromin vetten tykönä, ja karkasivat heidän päällensä.
So Joshua, and all the army with him, came in upon them, by the waters of Merom, suddenly, and fell upon them.
8 Ja Herra antoi heidät israelin käsiin, ja he löivät heitä, ja ajoivat heitä takaa isoon Zidoniin asti, ja lämpimään veteen asti, ja Mitspan ketoon asti, itään päin, ja löivät heitä siihenasti, ettei yksikään heistä jäänyt.
And Yahweh delivered them up into the hand of Israel, and they smote them, and chased them as far as great Zidon, and as far as Misrephoth-maim, and as far as the valley of Mizpeh, eastward, —yea they smote them until they left them not a survivor.
9 Niin teki myös Josua heille, niinkuin Herra oli hänelle käskenyt, ja teki rivinomaksi heidän hevosensa ja poltti heidän vaununsa tulella.
And Joshua did unto them, as Yahweh had said unto him, —their horses, he ham-strung, and, their chariots, burned he up with fire.
10 Ja Josua palasi sillä ajalla ja voitti Hatsorin ja löi hänen kuninkaansa miekalla; sillä Hatsor oli ennen kaikkein näiden valtakuntain pääkaupunki.
Then Joshua turned back, at that time, and captured Hazor, and, the king thereof, smote he with the sword, —for, Hazor, aforetime, was the head of all these kingdoms.
11 Ja he löivät kaikki ne sielut, jotka siellä olivat, miekan terällä, ja tappoivat, niin ettei yhtäkään jäänyt, jolla henki oli, ja poltti Hatsorin tulella.
And they smote all the souls that were therein, with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, there was left no breathing thing, —and, Hazor, burned he up with fire.
12 Ja kaikkein niiden kuningasten kaupungit voitti Josua, kaikkein heidän kuningastensa kanssa, ja löi heitä miekan terällä, ja tappoi heidät, niinkuin Moses Herran palvelia käskenyt oli.
And, all the cities of these kings, and all the kings thereof, did Joshua capture, and he smote them with the edge of the sword, devoting them to destruction, —as Moses, the servant of Yahweh, commanded.
13 Mutta Israelin lapset ei polttaneet yhtäkään kaupunkia, jotka seisoivat töyräillänsä, paitsi ainoaa Hatsoria, jonka Josua poltti.
Yet, none of the cities that were still standing upon their mound, did Israel burn, none but Hazor alone, did Joshua burn.
14 Ja kaiken saaliin ja eläimet, jotka he näistä kaupungeista olivat ottaneet, jakoivat Israelin lapset keskenänsä. Ainoasti kaikki ihmiset tappoivat he miekan terällä, siihenasti että he hukuttivat heidät, niin ettei yhtäkään elävää henkeä jäänyt,
But, all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, did the sons of Israel take as their prey, —nevertheless, all the human beings, smote they with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, they left remaining no breathing thing.
15 Niinkuin Herra palveliallensa Mosekselle käskenyt oli, ja Moses oli Josualle käskenyt. Ja niin Josua teki, ettei niistä yhtäkään tekemätä jäänyt, mitä Herra Mosekselle käskenyt oli.
As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so, Moses commanded Joshua, and, so, Joshua, did, he set aside nothing of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.
16 Ja Josua otti kaiken tämän maakunnan, vuorimaan, ja kaiken Etelämaan, ja kaiken Gosenin maan ja kedot sekä myös laaksot, ja Israelin vuoret laaksoinensa,
So Joshua took all this land—the hill country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the waste plain, —and the hill country of Israel, and the lowland thereof:
17 Siitä sileästä vuoresta, joka menee ylös Seiriin päin BaalGadiin asti Libanonin laaksossa, Hermonin vuoren alapuolella: kaikki heidän kuninkaansa voitti hän, löi ja tappoi heidät.
from Mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even as far as Baal-gad, in the valley of the Lebanon, under Mount Hermon, —and, all their kings, he captured, and smote them, and put them to death.
18 Kauvan aikaa soti Josua kaikkein näiden kuningasten kanssa.
Many days, did Joshua, with all these kings, make war.
19 Ei ollut yhtäkään kaupunkia, joka rauhalla itsensä antoi Israelin lasten alle, paitsi Heviläisiä, jotka asuivat Gibeonissa; mutta kaikki he ottivat sodalla.
There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, save the Hivites dwelling in Gibeon, —the whole, took they in battle.
20 Ja se tapahtui niin Herralta, että heidän sydämensä oli niin paatunut, että he kohtasivat Israelin sodalla, että hän heidät tappais, ja ei yhtäkään armoa heille tapahtuisi, vaan että hän hukuttais heidät, niinkuin Herra Mosekselle käskenyt oli.
For, from Yahweh, came it to pass, that their heart was emboldened to come out to war with Israel, that he might devote them to destruction, that they might find no favour, —but that he might destroy them, —as Yahweh commanded Moses.
21 Siihen aikaan tuli Josua ja hävitti Enakilaiset vuorelta, Hebronista, Debiristä, Anabista ja kaikilta Juudan vuorilta ja kaikilta Israelin vuorilta, ja tappoi heidät kaupunkeinensa,
And Joshua came in, at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill country—from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel, —with their cities, did Joshua devote them to destruction.
22 Ja ei antanut yhtäkään Enakilaista jäädä Israelin lasten maalle, paitsi Gasassa, Gatissa ja Asdodissa, joihin he jäivät.
There was left remaining none of the Anakim, in the land of the sons of Israel, —save only, in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.
23 Ja niin Josua otti kaiken maakunnan, peräti niin kuin Herra Mosekselle oli sanonut, ja antoi Israelille perinnöksi, kullekin sukukunnalle osansa; ja maakunta lakkasi sotimasta.
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Yahweh had spoken unto Moses, and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel, according to their portions by their tribes, —and, the land, had rest from war.
