Joonan 2
1 Ja Jona rukoili Herraa Jumalaansa kalan vatsassa,
And Jonah prays to his God YHWH from the bowels of the fish.
2 Ja sanoi: minä huusin Herraa minun ahdistuksessani, ja hän vastasi minua; minä paruin helvetin vatsasta, ja sinä kuulit minun ääneni. (Sheol h7585)
And he says: “I called, because of my distress, to YHWH, And He answers me, From the belly of Sheol I have cried, You have heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 Sinä heitit minun syvyyteen keskelle merta, niin että aallot minua pyörsivät ympäriinsä; kaikki sinun lainees ja aaltos kävivät minun päällitseni.
When You cast me [into] the deep, Into the heart of the seas, Then the flood surrounds me, All Your breakers and Your billows have passed over me.
4 Minä ajattelin minuni hyljätyksi sinun silmäis edestä; kuitenkin saan minä vielä nähdä sinun pyhän templis.
And I said: I have been cast out from before Your eyes (Yet I add to look to Your holy temple!)
5 Vedet piirsivät minua ympäri sieluuni asti; syvyydet piirittivät minun; kaislisto peitti minun pääni.
Waters have surrounded me to the soul, The deep surrounds me, The weed is bound to my head.
6 Minä vajosin vuorten perustukseen asti; maa salpasi minun teljillänsä ijankaikkisesti; mutta sinä otit minun elämäni ulos kadotuksesta, Herra minun Jumalani.
To the cuttings of mountains I have come down, The earth, her bars [are] behind me for all time. And You bring my life up from the pit, O YHWH my God.
7 Kuin minun sieluni epäili minussa, niin minä muistin Herraa; ja minun rukoukseni tuli sinun tykös, sinun pyhään templiis.
In the feebleness of my soul within me, I have remembered YHWH, And my prayer comes to You, Into Your holy temple.
8 Mutta jotka luottavat tuhaan valheeseen, ne hylkäävät laupiuden itse kohtaansa.
Those observing lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 Mutta minä tahdon uhrata sinulle kiitoksella, minä tahdon maksaa lupaukseni; Herran tykönä on apu.
And I—with a voice of thanksgiving—I sacrifice to You, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation [is] of YHWH.”
10 Ja Herra sanoi kalalle, että hän oksensi Jonan maan päälle.
And YHWH speaks to the fish, and it vomits Jonah out on the dry land.
