Johanneksen 3
1 Niin oli yksi mies Pharisealaisista, Nikodemus nimeltä, Juudalaisten ylimmäinen.
There was however, a man from among the Pharisees, Nicodemus, his name, —ruler of the Jews.
2 Se tuli yöllä Jesuksen tykö ja sanoi hänelle: Mestari, me tiedämme, että sinä olet Jumamalasta opettajaksi tullut; sillä ei taida kenkään niitä tunnustähtiä tehdä, joita sinä teet, jollei Jumala ole hänen kanssansa.
The same, came unto him, by night, and said unto him—Rabbi! we know that, from God, thou hast come, a teacher; for, no one, can be doing, these signs, which, thou, art doing, except, God, be with him.
3 Jesus vastasi ja sanoi hänelle: totisesti, totisesti sanon minä sinulle: ellei joku vastuudesta synny, ei hän taida Jumalanmalan valtakuntaa nähdä.
Jesus answered, and said unto him—Verily, verily, I say unto thee: Except one be born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nikodemus sanoi hänelle: kuinka taitaa ihminen vanhana syntyä? taitaako hän äitinsä kohtuun jälleen mennä, ja syntyä?
Nicodemus saith unto him—How, can a man be born, when he is, old? Can he, into the womb of his mother, a second time, enter, and be born?
5 Jesus vastasi: totisesti, totisesti sanon minä sinulle: ellei joku synny vedestä ja Hengestä ei hän taida Jumalan valtakuntaan sisälle tulla.
Jesus answered—Verily, verily, I say unto thee: Except one be born of water and spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 Mitä lihasta syntynyt on, se on liha, ja mitä Hengestä syntynyt on se on henki.
That which hath been born of the flesh, is, flesh, and, that which hath been born of the spirit, is, spirit.
7 Älä ihmettele, että minä sanoin sinulle: teidän pitää uudesta syntymän.
Do not marvel, that I said unto thee: Ye must needs be born from above.
8 Tuuli puhaltaa, kussa hän tahtoo, ja sinä kuulet hänen humunsa, ja et tiedä, kusta hän tulee taikka kuhunka hän menee: näin on jokainen, joka Hengestä syntynyt on.
The spirit, where it pleaseth, doth breathe, and, the sound thereof, thou hearest; but knowest not, whence it cometh and whither it goeth: Thus, is every one who hath been born of the spirit.
9 Vastasi Nikodemus ja sanoi hänelle: kuinka ne taitavat tapahtua?
Nicodemus answered, and said unto him—How, can these things, come about?
10 Jesus vastasi ja sanoi hänelle: sinä olet mestari Israelissa, ja et näitä tiedä!
Jesus answered, and said unto him—Art, thou, the teacher of Israel, and, these things, knowest not?
11 Totisesti, totisesti sanon minä sinulle: me puhumme, mitä me tiedämme, ja todistamme, mitä me näemme, ja ette ota vastaan meidän todistustamme.
Verily, verily, I say unto thee: What we know, we speak, and, of what we have seen, we bear witness, and, our witness, ye receive not.
12 Jos minä maallisia teille sanoin, ja ette usko: kuinka te uskoisitte, jos minä taivaallisia teille sanoisin?
If, the earthly things, I told you, and ye believe not, How, if I should tell you the heavenly things, will ye believe?
13 Ei astu kenkään ylös taivaasen, vaan joka taivaasta astui alas, Ihmisen Poika, joka on taivaassa.
And, no one, hath ascended into heaven, save he that, out of heaven, descended, —The Son of Man.
14 Ja niinkuin Moses ylensi kärmeen korvessa, niin myös Ihmisen Poika pitää ylennettämän.
And, just as, Moses, lifted up the serpent in the desert, so, must, the Son of Man, be lifted up, —
15 Että jokainen, joka uskoo hänen päällensä, ei pidä hukkuman, mutta ijankaikkisen elämän saaman. (aiōnios g166)
That, whosoever believeth in him, may have life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
16 Sillä niin on Jumala maailmaa rakastanut, että hän antoi ainoan Poikansa, että jokainen, joka uskoo hänen päällensä, ei pidä hukkuman, mutta ijankaikkisen elämän saaman. (aiōnios g166)
For God, so loved, the world, that, his Only Begotten Son, he gave, —that, whosoever believeth on him, might not perish, but have life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
17 Sillä ei Jumala lähettänyt Poikaansa maailmaan, tuomitsemaan maailmaa, mutta että maailma pitää hänen kauttansa vapahdettaman.
For God, sent not, his Son into the world, that he might judge the world, but, that the world might be saved through him.
18 Joka hänen päällensä uskoo, ei häntä tuomita; mutta joka ei usko, se on jo tuomittu; sillä ei hän uskonut Jumalan ainoan Pojan nimen päälle.
He that believeth on him, is not to be judged: he that believeth not, already, hath been judged, —because he hath not believed on the name of the Only Begotten Son of God.
19 Mutta tämä on tuomio: että valkeus tuli maailmaan, ja ihmiset rakastivat enemmin pimeyttä kuin valkeutta; sillä heidän työnsä olivat pahat.
And, this, is the judgment: That, the light, hath come into the world, —and men loved, rather the darkness than the light, for, wicked, were their, works.
20 Sillä jokainen, joka pahaa tekee, se vihaa valkeutta eikä tule valkeuteen, ettei hänen töitänsä pitäisi laitettaman.
For, whosoever doth practise corrupt things, hateth the light, and cometh not unto the light, lest his works should be reproved;
21 Mutta joka totuuden tekee, se tulee valkeuteen, että hänen työnsä nähtäisiin; sillä ne ovat Jumalassa tehdyt.
But, he that doeth the truth, cometh unto the light, that his works may be, made manifest, that, in God, have they been wrought.
22 Sitte tuli Jesus ja hänen opetuslapsensa Juudean maahan, ja asui siellä heidän kanssansa, ja kasti.
After these things, came Jesus, and his disciples, into the Judaean land; and, there, was he tarrying with them, and immersing.
23 Mutta Johannes kasti myös Enonissa läsnä Salimia, sillä siellä oli palto vettä; ja he tulivat ja kastettiin.
And John also was immersing in Aenon, near to him, because, many waters, were there; and they were coming, and being immersed; —
24 Sillä ei Johannes ollut vielä silloin vankiuteen heitetty.
for, not yet, had John been cast into prison.
25 Niin tuli kysymys Johanneksen opetuslasten ja Juudalaisten välillä puhdistuksesta.
There arose, therefore, a questioning, from among the disciples of John, with a Jew, —concerning purification.
26 Ja he tulivat Johanneksen tykö ja sanoivat hänelle: opettaja, se joka sinun kanssas oli toisella puolella Jordania, josta sinä todistit, katso, hän kastaa, ja jokainen menee hänen tykönsä.
And they came unto John, and said unto him—Rabbi! he who was with thee beyond the Jordan, unto whom, thou, hast borne witness, see! the same, is immersing; and, all, are coming unto him.
27 Johannes vastasi ja sanoi: ei ihminen taida mitään ottaa, ellei hänelle anneta taivaasta.
John answered, and said—A man can receive, nothing, except it have been given him out of heaven.
28 Te olette itse minun todistajani, että minä olen sanonut: en minä ole Kristus, vaan minä olen hänen edellänsä lähetetty.
Ye yourselves, unto me, bear witness, that, I, said—I, am not the Christ; but—I am sent before, That One.
29 Jolla on morsian, se on ylkä; mutta yljän ystävä, joka seisoo ja kuultelee häntä, se iloittaa itsiänsä yljän äänestä sangen suuresti; sentähden on tämä minun iloni täytetty.
He that hath the bride, is, bridegroom; but, the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth by and hearkeneth unto him, greatly, rejoiceth, by reason of the voice of the bridegroom. This, my joy, therefore, is fulfilled.
30 Hänen tulee kasvaa, mutta minun pitää vähenemän.
That One, it behoveth to increase, —but, me, to decrease.
31 Joka ylhäältä tulee, se on kaikkein päällä, ja joka maasta on, se on maasta ja puhuu maasta. Joka taivaasta tulee, hän on kaikkein ylin.
He that, from above, doth come, over all, is: he that is of the earth, of the earth, is, and, of the earth, doth speak: he that, out of heaven, doth come, over all, is,
32 Ja mitä hän nähnyt ja kuullut on, sen hän todistaa, ja ei kenkään ota vastaan hänen todistustansa.
What he hath seen and heard, of, the same, he beareth witness, —and, his witness, no one, receiveth: —
33 Joka hänen todistuksensa otti vastaan, se päätti Jumalan olevan totisen.
He that hath received his witness, hath set seal—that, God, is, true.
34 Sillä jonka Jumala lähetti, se puhuu Jumalan sanoja; sillä ei Jumala anna Henkeä mitalla.
For, he whom God hath sent, the sayings of God, doth speak; for, not by measure, giveth he the Spirit.
35 Isä rakastaa Poikaa, ja antoi kaikki hänen käteensä.
The Father, loveth the Son, and, all things, hath given into his hand.
36 Joka uskoo Pojan päälle, hänellä on ijankaikkinen elämä; mutta joka ei usko Pojan päälle, ei hänen pidä elämää näkemän, mutta Jumalan viha pysyy hänen päällänsä. (aiōnios g166)
He that believeth on the Son, hath life age-abiding: whereas, he that yieldeth not unto the Son, shall not see life, —but, the anger of God, awaiteth him. (aiōnios g166)
