Johanneksen 15
1 Minä olen totinen viinipuu, ja minun Isäni on peltomies:
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Jokaisen oksan minussa, joka ei kanna hedelmää, hän karsii pois, ja jokaisen, joka hedelmän kantaa, hän puhdistaa, että se kantais runsaamman hedelmän.
Every branch in me not producing fruit, He takes it away: and every one producing fruit, He purifies it, that it may produce more fruit.
3 Te olette nyt puhtaat, sen sanan tähden, jonka minä teille puhuin.
So ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Pysykäät te minussa, ja minä teissä. Niinkuin ei oksa taida itsestänsä hedelmää kantaa, ellei hän viinapuussa kiinni ole, niin ette tekään, jollette minussa pysy.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch is not able to produce fruit of itself, unless it may abide in the vine; so you are not able, unless you may abide in me.
5 Minä olen viinapuu, te olette oksat: joka minussa pysyy ja minä hänessä, hän kantaa paljon hedelmää; sillä ilman minua ette voi mitään tehdä.
I am the vine, and ye are the branches. The one abiding in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit: because you are not able to do anything without me.
6 Jos ei joku minussa pysy, se heitetään ulos niinkuin oksa, ja kuivettuu, ja ne sidotaan kokoon, ja heitetään tuleen, ja palavat.
If any one may not abide in me, he is cast out as a branch, and withered; and they gather it, and cast it into the fire, and it is burnt.
7 Jos te minussa pysytte ja minun sanani pysyvät teissä, mitkä ikänä te tahdotte, niin anokaat, ja te saatte.
If you may abide in me, and my words may abide in you, ask whatsoever you may wish, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Siinä minun Isäni kunnioitetaan, että te paljon hedelmää kantaisitte, ja tulette minun opetuslapsikseni.
In this my Father is glorified, that you may bear much fruit; and ye shall be my disciples.
9 Niinkuin Isä rakasti minua, niin minä myös rakastin teitä: kysykäät minun rakkaudessani.
As the Father loved me, I also loved you: abide in my love.
10 Jos te minun käskyni pidätte, niin te pysytte minun rakkaudessani, niinkuin minä pidän Isäni käskyn ja pysyn hänen rakkaudessansa.
If you may keep my commandments, abide in my love; as I have kept the commandments of my Father, and I abide in His love.
11 Näitä olen minä teille puhunut, että minun iloni teissä pysyis ja teidän ilonne tulis täydelliseksi.
I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
12 Se on minun käskyni, että te rakastatte teitänne keskenänne, niinkuin minä teitä rakastin.
This is my commandment, that you may love one another, as I loved you.
13 Ei ole kellään sitä suurempaa rakkautta, kuin että joku panis henkensä ystäväinsä edestä.
No one has greater love than this, that he may lay down his soul for his friends.
14 Te olette minun ystäväni, jos te teette, mitä minä teidän käsken.
You are my friends, if you may do those things which I command you.
15 En minä tästedes sano teitä palvelijoiksi; sillä ei palvelia tiedä, mitä hänen herransa tekee; mutta minä kutsun teitä ystäviksi, sillä kaikki, mitä minä Isältäni kuulin, ne minä teille ilmoitin.
No longer do I call you servants; because the servant knows not what his lord is doing: but I have called you friends; because all things which I heard with my Father, I made known unto you.
16 Ette minua valinneet, vaan minä valitsin teidät, ja sääsin teidät, että te menisitte hedelmää tekemään ja teidän hedelmänne pysyis: että mitä te anotte Isältä minun nimeeni, sen hän antaa teille.
You did not choose me, but I chose you, and placed you in your position, that you may go forth and bear fruit, and your fruit may abide: in order that He may give you whatsoever you may ask in my name.
17 Näitä minä käsken teille, että te toinen toistanne rakastaisitte.
I command these things unto you, that you must love one another with divine love.
18 Jos maailma teitä vihaa, niin tietäkäät hänen ennen minua vihanneen kuin teitä.
If the world hates you, know that it first hated me.
19 Jos te maailmasta olisitte, niin maailma omaansa rakastais; mutta ette ole maailmasta, vaan minä valitsin teidät maailmasta, sentähden maailma vihaa teitä.
If you were of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
20 Muistakaat sitä sanaa, jonka minä teille sanoin: ei ole palvelia suurempi herraansa. Jos he minua vainosivat, niin he myös teitä vainoovat: jos he minun sanani kätkivät, niin he teidänkin sananne kätkevät.
Remember the word which I spoke to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
21 Mutta kaikkia näitä tekevät he teille minun nimeni tähden; sillä ei he tunne sitä, joka minun lähetti.
But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know Him that sent me.
22 Jos en minä olisi tullut ja heitä puhutellut, niin ei heillä olisi syntiä; mutta nyt ei heillä ole, millä he syntinsä verhoovat.
If I did not come and speak to them, they had not sin: now they have no excuse for their sin.
23 Joka minua vihaa, hän vihaa myös minun Isääni.
The one hating me hates my Father also.
24 Ellen minä olisi niitä töitä heidän seassansa tehnyt, joita ei kenkään muu ole tehnyt, niin ei heillä olisi syntiä; mutta nyt he näkivät, ja vihasivat sekä minua että minun Isääni.
If I did not works among them which no other did: they had not sin: but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 Vaan (se tapahtui) että se täytettäisiin, mitä heidän laissansa on kirjoitettu: he vihasivat minua ilman syytä.
But in order that the word having been written in their law may be fulfilled, That they hated me gratuitously.
26 Mutta kuin Lohduttaja tulee, jonka minä teille Isältä lähetän, totuuden Henki, joka Isästä käy ulos, se on minusta todistava.
When the Comforter, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, may come, He will witness concerning me,
27 Ja teidän pitää myös todistaman; sillä te olette alusta minun kanssani.
but you indeed are witnesses, because you are with me from the beginning.
