Joelin 2
1 Soittakaat basunalla Zionissa, huutakaat minun pyhällä vuorellani, vaviskaat kaikki maan asuvaiset; sillä Herran päivä tulee ja on läsnä:
Blowe the trumpet in Zion, and shoute in mine holy mountaine: let all the inhabitants of the lande tremble: for the day of the Lord is come: for it is at hand.
2 Pimiä päivä, synkiä päivä, sumuinen päivä ja utuinen päivä; niinkuin aamurusko itsensä levittää vuorten ylitse; suuri ja väkevä kansa, jonka kaltaista ei ikänä ole ollut, eikä vasta tule ijankaikkiseen aikaan.
A day of darkenesse, and of blacknesse, a day of cloudes, and obscuritie, as the morning spred vpon the mountaines, so is there a great people, and a mighty: there was none like it from the beginning, neither shalbe any more after it, vnto the yeeres of many generations.
3 Hänen edellänsä käy kuluttavainen tuli, ja hänen jälissänsä polttavainen liekki. Maa on hänen edessänsä niinkuin Edenin puutarha, mutta hänen jälissänsä niinkuin autio erämaa, ja ei pidä kenenkään pääsemän häneltä pois.
A fire deuoureth before him, and behinde him a flame burneth vp: the land is as the garden of Eden before him, and behinde him a desolate wildernesse, so that nothing shall escape him.
4 Hänen muotonsa on niinkuin hevosten muoto; ja he karkaavat niinkuin ratsasmiehet.
The beholding of him is like the sight of horses, and like the horsemen, so shall they runne.
5 He hyppäävät ylhäällä vuorten kukkuloilla niinkuin rattaat kitisevät, niinkuin liekki korsissa kihisis; niinkuin väkevä kansa, joka sotaan on hankittu.
Like the noyse of charrets in the toppes of the mountaines shall they leape, like the noyse of a flame of fire that deuoureth the stubble, and as a mightie people prepared to the battel.
6 Kansat pitää hänen edessänsä hämmästymän, että kaikki kasvot valjuksi muuttuvat.
Before his face shall the people tremble: all faces shall gather blackenesse.
7 He juoksevat niinkuin uljaat, ja karkaavat muurien ylitse niinkuin sotamiehet; ja kukin käy kohdastansa edes, ja ei poikkee ulos tiestänsä.
They shall runne like strong men, and goe vp to the wall like men of warre, and euery man shall goe forward in his wayes, and they shall not stay in their paths.
8 Ei estä kenkään kumppaniansa, vaan kukin matkustaa asetuksessansa; ja kuin he sota-aseiden välistä tunkevat sisälle, niin ei heitä haavoiteta.
Neither shall one thrust another, but euery one shall walke in his path: and when they fall vpon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
9 He ajelevat ympäri kaupungissa, ja muurien päällä juoksevat, ja kiipeevät huoneisiin, ja tulevat akkunoista sisälle, niinkuin varas.
They shall runne to and from in the citie: they shall runne vpon the wall: they shall clime vp vpon the houses, and enter in at ye windowes like ye thiefe.
10 Hänen edessänsä vapisee maa, ja taivas värisee: aurinko ja kuu pimenevät, ja tähdet peittävät valkeutensa.
The earth shall tremble before him, ye heauens shall shake, the sunne and the moone shalbe darke, and the starres shall withdraw their shining,
11 Sillä Herra on paneva jylinänsä hänen sotaväkensä edellä; sillä hänen sotaväkensä on sangen suuri ja väkevä, joka hänen käskynsä toimittaa; sillä Herran päivä on suuri ja sangen hirmuinen, kuka sitä voi kärsiä?
And the Lord shall vtter his voyce before his hoste: for his hoste is very great: for he is strog that doeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible, and who can abide it?
12 Niin sanoo nyt Herra: kääntykäät kaikesta sydämestänne minun tyköni, paastolla, itkulla ja murheella.
Therefore also now the Lord sayth, Turne you vnto me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning,
13 Leikatkaat teidän sydämenne, ja älkäät teidän vaatteitannne, ja palatkaat Herran teidän Jumalanne tykö; sillä hän on armollinen ja laupias, pitkämielinen ja suuresta hyvyydestä, ja katuu rangaistusta.
And rent your heart, and not your clothes: and turne vnto the Lord your God, for he is gratious, and mercifull, slowe to anger, and of great kindnes, and repenteth him of the euill.
14 Kukaties hän kääntyy ja katuu, ja jättää jälkeensä siunauksen, ruokauhrin ja juomauhrin Herralle teidän Jumalallenne.
Who knoweth, is he wil returne and repent and leaue a blessing behinde him, euen a meate offring, and a drinke offring vnto ye Lord your God?
15 Soittakaat basunalla Zionissa, pyhittäkäät paasto, kutsukaat seurakunta kokoon.
Blowe the trumpet in Zion, sanctifie a fast, call a solemne assembly.
16 Kootkaat kansa, pyhittäkäät kokous, kutsukaat yhteen vanhimmat, saattakaat yhteen nuorukaiset ja imeväiset; ylkä lähtekään kammiostansa, ja morsian makaushuoneestansa.
Gather the people: sanctifie the congregation, gather the elders: assemble the children, and those that sucke the breastes: let the bridegrome go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her bride chamber.
17 Papit, Herran palveliat, itkekään esihuoneen ja alttarin välillä, ja sanokaan: armahda, Herra, sinun kansaas, ja älä laske sinun perikuntaas pilkkaan, niin ettei pakanat saisi valtaa heidän päällensä! miksi pitäis sanottaman kansain seassa: kussa on nyt heidän Jumalansa?
Let the Priestes, the ministers of the Lord weepe betweene the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and giue not thine heritage into reproche that the heathen should rule ouer them. Wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
18 Niin Herralla on kiivaus maastansa; ja hän armahtaa kansaansa.
Then will the Lord be ielous ouer his land, and spare his people.
19 Ja Herra vastaa ja sanoo kansallensa: katso, minä lähetin teille jyviä, viinaa ja öljyä, että teillä piti niistä kyllä oleman; ja en salli teitä enään häpiään tulla pakanain sekaan.
Yea, the Lord wil answere and say vnto his people, Beholde, I will send you corne, and wine, and oyle, and you shalbe satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproche among the heathen,
20 Ja tahdon sen, joka pohjoisesta tullut on, teiltä kauvas saattaa, ja ajaa hänen pois korkiaan ja hävitettyyn maahan, hänen kasvonsa itäistä merta päin, ja hänen lopppunsa äärimäisen meren puoleen; ja hänen pitää mätänemän ja haiseman; sillä hän on suuria tehnyt.
But I will remooue farre off from you the Northren armie, and I will driue him into a land, barren and desolate with his face toward the East sea, and his end to the vtmost sea, and his stinke shall come vp, and his corruption shall ascend, because he hath exalted himselfe to do this.
21 Älä pelkää, sinä maa, vaan iloise ja riemuitse; sillä Herra taitaa myös suuria tehdä.
Feare not, O land, but be glad, and reioyce: for the Lord wil do great things.
22 Älkäät peljätkö, te pedot kedolla; sillä laitumet korvessa pitää viheriöitsemän, ja puut hedelmänsä kantaman, fikunapuut ja viinapuut kyllä hedelmöitsemän.
Be not afrayde, ye beastes of the fielde: for the pastures of the wildernesse are greene: for the tree beareth her fruite: the figge tree and the vine do giue their force.
23 Ja te, Zionin lapset, iloitkaat ja riemuitkaat Herrassa teidän Jumalassanne, joka teille antaa vanhurskauden opettajan, ja laskee alas teille aamu- ja ehtoosateen niinkuin ennenkin;
Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and reioyce in the Lord your God: for he hath giuen you the rayne of righteousnes, he wil cause to come downe for you the rayne, euen the first raine, and the latter raine in the first moneth.
24 Että aitat jyviä täynnä olisivat, ja kuurnat nuoresta viinasta ja öljystä ylitse vuotaisivat.
And the barnes shalbe full of wheate, and the presses shall abound with wine and oyle.
25 Ja minä saatan teille jälleen ne vuodet, jotka heinäsirkka, lehtimato, jyvämato ja ruohomato söi; se minun suuri sotaväkeni, jonka minä teidän sekaanne lähetin;
And I will render you the yeeres that the grashopper hath eaten, the canker worme and the caterpiller and the palmer worme, my great hoste which I sent among you.
26 Että teidän pitää kyllä syömän ja ravituksi tuleman, ja ylistämän Herran teidän Jumalanne nimeä, joka teidän seassanne on ihmeitä tehnyt; ja ei minun kansani pidä ikänä häpiään tuleman.
So you shall eate and be satisfied and praise the Name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt marueilously with you: and my people shall neuer be ashamed.
27 Ja teidän pitää ymmärtämän, että minä olen Israelin keskellä, ja että minä olen Herra teidän Jumalanne ja ei kenkään muu; eikä minun kansani pidä ikänä häpiään tuleman.
Ye shall also know, that I am in the middes of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God and none other, and my people shall neuer be ashamed.
28 Ja sitte pitää tapahtuman, että minä tahdon vuodattaa minun Henkeni kaiken lihan päälle; ja teidän poikanne ja tyttärenne pitää ennustaman, teidän vanhimpanne pitää unia uneksuman, ja teidän nuorukaisenne pitää näkyjä näkemän.
And afterward will I powre out my Spirit vpon all flesh: and your sonnes and your daughters shall prophecie: your olde men shall dreame dreames, and your yong men shall see visions,
29 Ja myös niinä päivinä tahdon minä palveliain ja piikain päälle vuodattaa minun Henkeni.
And also vpon the seruants, and vpon the maydes in those dayes wil I powre my Spirit.
30 Ja tahdon antaa tapahtua tunnustähdet taivaassa ja maassa, veren, tulen ja savun suitsun.
And I will shewe wonders in the heauens and in the earth: blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 Auringon pitää muuttuman pimiäksi, ja kuun vereksi; ennenkuin se suuri ja hirmuinen Herran päivä tulee.
The sunne shalbe turned into darkenesse, and the moone into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.
32 Ja on tapahtuva, että jokainen, joka Herran nimeä avuksensa huutaa, se tulee autuaaksi; sillä Zionin vuorella ja Jerusalemissa on vapaus oleva, niinkuin Herra on luvannut, ja jääneiden tykönä, jotka Herra kutsuva on.
But whosoeuer shall call on the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued: for in mount Zion, and in Ierusale shalbe deliuerance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call.
