Jobin 8
1 Niin vastasi Bildad Suasta ja sanoi:
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and saide,
2 Kuinka kauvan sinä tahdot näitä puhua? ja sinun suus puheet ovat niinkuin väkevä tuuli?
Howe long wilt thou talke of these things? and howe long shall the wordes of thy mouth be as a mightie winde?
3 Väärinkö Jumala tuomitsee, eli rikkooko Kaikkivaltias oikeuden?
Doeth God peruert iudgement? or doeth the Almightie subuert iustice?
4 Jos poikas ovat syntiä tehneet hänen edessänsä, niin hän on hyljännyt heitä heidän pahain tekoinsa tähden.
If thy sonnes haue sinned against him, and he hath sent them into the place of their iniquitie,
5 Mutta jos sinä aikanansa etsit Jumalaa, ja rukoilet Kaikkivaltiasta hartaasti,
Yet if thou wilt early seeke vnto God, and pray to the Almightie,
6 Ja jos sinä olet puhdas ja hyvä, niin hän herättää sinun, ja taas tekee rauhalliseksi hurskautes majan.
If thou be pure and vpright, then surely hee will awake vp vnto thee, and he wil make the habitation of thy righteousnesse prosperous.
7 Ja kussa sinulla oli ennen vähä, pitää tästedes sinulle sangen paljon lisääntymän.
And though thy beginning be small, yet thy latter ende shall greatly encrease.
8 Sillä kysy nyt entisiltä sukukunnilta, ja rupee kysymään heidän isiltänsä.
Inquire therefore, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thy selfe to search of their fathers.
9 Sillä me olemme niinkuin eilen tulleet, ja emme mitään tiedä: meidän elämämme on niinkuin varjo maan päällä.
(For we are but of yesterday, and are ignorant: for our dayes vpon earth are but a shadowe)
10 Heidän pitää opettaman sinua, ja sanoman sinulle, ja tuoman puheensa edes sydämestänsä.
Shall not they teach thee and tell thee, and vtter the wordes of their heart?
11 Kasvaako kaisla, ellei seiso loassa? eli kasvaako ruoho ilman vettä?
Can a rush grow without myre? or can ye grasse growe without water?
12 Koska se vielä kukoistaa ennenkuin se niitetään, kuivettuu se ennenkuin heinä korjataan.
Though it were in greene and not cutte downe, yet shall it wither before any other herbe.
13 Niin käy kaikkein niiden, jotka Jumalan unhottavat, ja ulkokullattuin toivo katoo.
So are the paths of al that forget God, and the hypocrites hope shall perish.
14 Sillä hänen toivonsa tulee tyhjäksi, ja hänen uskalluksensa niinkuin hämähäkin verkko.
His confidence also shalbe cut off, and his trust shalbe as the house of a spyder.
15 Hän luottaa huoneensa päälle, ja ei se pidä seisoman; hän turvaa siihen, ja ei se pidä pysyväinen oleman.
He shall leane vpon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall holde him fast by it, yet shall it not endure.
16 Se viheriöitsee kyllä ennen auringon nousemaa, ja sen heikot oksat kasvavat hänen yrttitarhassansa.
The tree is greene before the sunne, and the branches spread ouer the garden thereof.
17 Hänen juurensa seisoo paksuna lähteen tykönä, ja huoneet kivien päällä.
The rootes thereof are wrapped about the fountaine, and are folden about ye house of stones.
18 Mutta koska hän nielee sen paikastansa, kieltää hän sen, niinkuin ei olis nähnytkään sitä.
If any plucke it from his place, and it denie, saying, I haue not seene thee,
19 Katso, tämä on hänen menonsa riemu; ja toiset taas kasvavat tuhasta.
Beholde, it will reioyce by this meanes, that it may growe in another molde.
20 Sentähden katso, ei Jumala hyviä hylkää, eikä vahvista pahain kättä,
Behold, God will not cast away an vpright man, neither will he take the wicked by the hand,
21 Siihen asti että sinun suus naurulla täytetään ja huules riemulla.
Till he haue filled thy mouth with laughter, and thy lippes with ioy.
22 Mutta ne jotka sinua vihaavat, pitää häpiään tuleman; ja jumalattomain asuinsia ei pidä pysyväinen oleman.
They that hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling of the wicked shall not remaine.
