1 Elihu puhui vielä ja sanoi:
And Elihu continued:
2 Odota vielä vähä, minä osoitan sinulle sen; sillä minulla on vielä nyt jotakin Jumalan puolesta sanomista.
“Bear with me a little longer, and I will show you that there is more to be said on God’s behalf.
3 Minä tuon minun ymmärrykseni kaukaa, ja osoitan, että minun Luojani on hurskas.
I get my knowledge from afar, and I will ascribe justice to my Maker.
4 Sillä minun puheessani ei tosin ole petosta, minun ymmärrykseni on vilpitöin sinun edessäs.
For truly my words are free of falsehood; one perfect in knowledge is with you.
5 Katso, Jumala on voimallinen, ei kuitenkaan hän ketään hylkää: Hän on voimallinen sydämensä väestä.
Indeed, God is mighty, but He despises no one; He is mighty in strength of understanding.
6 Jumalatointa ei hän varjele, vaan auttaa köyhää oikeuteen.
He does not keep the wicked alive, but He grants justice to the afflicted.
7 Ei hän käännä silmiänsä pois hurskaasta: hän on myös kuningasten kanssa istuimella: hän antaa heidän pysyä alinomati, että he korkiaksi tulevat.
He does not take His eyes off the righteous, but He enthrones them with kings and exalts them forever.
8 Ja ehkä vangit olisivat jalkapuussa, ja sidottuna surkeuden köysillä:
And if men are bound with chains, caught in cords of affliction,
9 Niin hän ilmoittaa heille heidän työnsä ja rikoksensa, että he ovat tehneet väkivaltaa,
then He tells them their deeds and how arrogantly they have transgressed.
10 Ja avaa heidän korvansa kuritukseen, ja sanoo heille, että he kääntyisivät pois vääryydestä.
He opens their ears to correction and commands that they turn from iniquity.
11 Jos he kuulevat ja palvelevat häntä, niin he hyvissä päivissä vanhenevat ja ilolla elävät.
If they obey and serve Him, then they end their days in prosperity and their years in happiness.
12 Jos ei he kuule, niin he kaatuvat miekalla, ja hukkuvat ennenkuin he sen havaitsevat.
But if they do not obey, then they perish by the sword and die without knowledge.
13 Ulkokullatut kartuttavat vihan: ei he huuda, kuin he vankina ovat;
The godless in heart harbor resentment; even when He binds them, they do not cry for help.
14 Niin heidän sielunsa kuolee nuoruudessa, ja heidän elämänsä huorintekiäin seassa.
They die in their youth, among the male shrine prostitutes.
15 Mutta vaivaista auttaa hän vaivaisuudessa, ja avaa köyhäin korvan murheessa.
God rescues the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ears in oppression.
16 Hän tempaa sinunkin ahdistuksen kidasta avaruuteen, jolla ei pohjaa ole; ja sinun pöydälläs on lepo, täytetty kaikella hyvällä.
Indeed, He drew you from the jaws of distress to a spacious and broad place, to a table full of richness.
17 Ja sinä olet täydellisesti havaitseva jumalattoman tuomion; mutta tuomio ja oikeus vahvistaa sinun.
But now you are laden with the judgment due the wicked; judgment and justice have seized you.
18 Katso, ettei viha ole vietellyt sinua voimassas, eli suuret lahjat ole kääntäneet sinua.
Be careful that no one lures you with riches; do not let a large bribe lead you astray.
19 Luuletkos hänen huolivan jalouttas, kultaa eli jonkun väkevyyttä ja varaa?
Can your wealth or all your mighty effort keep you from distress?
20 Ei sinun tarvitse ikävöidä yötä, karatakses ihmisten päälle siallansa.
Do not long for the night, when people vanish from their homes.
21 Kavahda sinuas, ja älä käännä sinuas vääryyteen, niikuin sinä surkeuden tähden ruvennut olet.
Be careful not to turn to iniquity, for this you have preferred to affliction.
22 Katso, Jumala on korkia voimassansa: kuka on senkaltainen opettaja kuin hän on?
Behold, God is exalted in His power. Who is a teacher like Him?
23 Kuka tutkii hänen tiensä? ja kuka sanoo hänelle: sinä teet väärin?
Who has appointed His way for Him, or told Him, ‘You have done wrong’?
24 Muista, ettäs ylistät hänen töitänsä, niinkuin ihmiset veisaavat.
Remember to magnify His work, which men have praised in song.
25 Sillä kaikki ihmiset sen nähneet ovat: Ihmiset näkevät sen kaukaa.
All mankind has seen it; men behold it from afar.
26 Katso, Jumala on suuri, ja emme tiedä sitä: hänen vuosilukunsa ovat arvaamattomat.
Indeed, God is great—beyond our knowledge; the number of His years is unsearchable.
27 Sillä hän tekee veden pieniksi pisaroiksi, ja ajaa pilvensä kokoon sateeksi,
For He draws up drops of water which distill the rain from the mist,
28 Että pilvet pisaroitsevat ja vuotavat vahvasti ihmisten päälle.
which the clouds pour out and shower abundantly on mankind.
29 Koska hän aikoo hajoittaa pilvensä ja majansa jylinän.
Furthermore, who can understand how the clouds spread out, how the thunder roars from His pavilion?
30 Katso, niin hän levittää valkeutensa sen päälle, ja peittää meren syvyyden.
See how He scatters His lightning around Him and covers the depths of the sea.
31 Sillä näillä tuomitsee hän kansan; ja antaa ruokaa runsaasti.
For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance.
32 Hän kätkee valkeuden käsissänsä, ja käskee sen palata.
He fills His hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark.
33 Sen ilmoittaa hänen lähimmäisensä, joka on pitkäisen viha pilvissä.
The thunder declares His presence; even the cattle regard the rising storm.
