Jobin 29
1 Job puhui taas sananlaskunsa ja sanoi:
Moreover, Job continued his parable, and said,
2 Ah jos minä olisin niinkuin entisinä kuukausina! niinä päivinä, joina Jumala minun kätki,
Oh that I were as [in] months past, as [in] the days [when] God preserved me;
3 Koska hänen valkeutensa paisti minun pääni päälle, ja minä kävin pimeissä hänen valkeudessansa,
When his candle shined upon my head, [and when] by his light I walked [through] darkness;
4 Niinkuin minä olin nuorena olessani; koska Jumalan salaisuus oli minun majani päällä;
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God [was] upon my tabernacle;
5 Koska Kaikkivaltias oli vielä minun kanssani, ja minun nuorukaiseni minun ympärilläni;
When the Almighty [was] yet with me, [when] my children [were] about me;
6 Koska minä pesin minun tieni voilla, ja kallio vuoti minulle öljy-ojat;
When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
7 Koska minä menin kaupunin porteille, ja annoin valmistaa istuimeni kujille;
When I went out to the gate through the city, [when] I prepared my seat in the street!
8 Kuin nuoret näkivät minun, niin he pakenivat, ja vanhat nousivat ja seisoivat minun edessäni,
The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, [and] stood up.
9 Ylimmäiset lakkasivat puhumasta, ja panivat kätensä suunsa päälle,
The princes refrained talking, and laid [their] hand on their mouth.
10 Ruhtinasten ääni kätkeysi, ja heidän kielensä suun lakeen tarttui.
The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
11 Sillä kenen korva minun kuuli, se kiitti minua onnelliseksi, ja jonka silmä minun näki, se todisti minusta.
When the ear heard [me], then it blessed me; and when the eye saw [me], it gave witness to me:
12 Sillä minä autin köyhää, joka huusi, ja orpoa, jolla ei auttajaa ollut.
Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and [him that had] none to help him.
13 Niiden siunaus, jotka katoomallansa olivat, tuli minun päälleni; ja minä ilahutin leskein sydämen.
The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
14 Vanhurskaus oli minun pukuni, jonka minä päälleni puin, ja minun oikeuteni oli minulle niinkuin hame ja kaunistus.
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment [was] as a robe and a diadem.
15 Minä olin sokian silmä ja ontuvan jalka.
I was eyes to the blind, and feet [was] I to the lame.
16 Minä olin köyhäin isä, ja jonka asiaa en minä ymmärtänyt, sen minä visusti tutkin.
I [was] a father to the poor: and the cause [which] I knew not I searched out.
17 Minä särjin väärän syömähampaat, ja otin saaliin hänen hampaistansa,
And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
18 Minä ajattelin: minä riuduin pesässäni, ja teen päiväni moneksi niinkuin sannan.
Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply [my] days as the sand.
19 Minun juureni putkahti veden tykönä, ja kaste pysyi laihoni päällä.
My root [was] spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
20 Minun kunniallisuuteni uudistui minun edessäni, ja minun joutseni muuttui uudeksi minun kädessäni.
My glory [was] fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
21 He kuulivat minua ja odottivat, ja vaikenivat minun neuvooni.
To me [men] gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
22 Minun sanani jälkeen ei yksikään enempää puhunut, ja minun puheeni tiukkui heidän päällensä.
After my words they spoke not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
23 He odottivat minua niinkuin sadetta, ja avasivat suunsa niinkuin ehtoosadetta vastaan.
And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide [as] for the latter rain.
24 Jos minä nauroin heidän puoleensa, ei he luottaneet sen päälle, eikä tahtoneet minua murheesen saattaa.
[If] I laughed on them, they believed [it] not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
25 Kuin minä tulin heidän kokouksiinsa, niin minun täytyi istua ylimpänä: ja asuin niinkuin kuningas sotaväen keskellä, lohduttaissani murheellisia.
I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one [that] comforteth the mourners.
