1 Siksi ei Kaikkivaltiaalta ole ajat salatut? ja ne, jotka hänen tuntevat, ei näe hänen päiviänsä?
Why are times not laid up by the Almighty? and why do not they which know him see his days?
2 He siirtävät rajan, he ryöväävät lauman ja ruokkivat sen. '
There are that remove the landmarks; they violently take away flocks, and feed them.
3 He ajavat orpoin aasit pois, ja ottavat leskein härjät pantiksi.
They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.
4 Köyhäin täytyy tiellä paeta heitä, ja siviät maan päällä lymyttävät itsensä.
They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together.
5 Katso, niinkuin metsä-aasit korvessa, lähtevät he ulos ja samoovat varhain saaliin perään: korvessa on jokaiselle heistä ruokaa, niin myös nuorukaisille.
Behold, as wild asses in the desert they go forth to their work, seeking diligently for meat; the wilderness [yieldeth] them food for their children.
6 He niittävät pellolla hänen tulonsa, ja poimivat ja hakevat jumalattoman viinamäessä.
They cut their provender in the field; and they glean the vintage of the wicked.
7 Alastoman antavat he maata ilman vaatetta ja peittämättä pakkasessa.
They lie all night naked without clothing, and have no covering in the cold.
8 Vuorten vuotamisesta tulevat he märäksi; ja ettei heillä yhtään turvaa ole, turvaavat he mäkiin.
They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
9 He repivät orvot nisistä, ja panttaavat köyhän.
There are that pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor:
10 Alastoman antavat he käydä verhotta, ja ottavat isoovaiselta jalalliset pois.
[So that] they go about naked without clothing, and being an-hungred they carry the sheaves;
11 He pusertavat öljyä huonettensa vaiheella, ja janoovat viinaa kuurnitessa.
They make oil within the walls of these men; they tread [their] winepresses, and suffer thirst.
12 He saattavat kansan kaupungissa huokaamaan, ja tapettuin sielut huutamaan: ja ei Jumala heitä rankaise.
From out of the populous city men groan, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God imputeth it not for folly.
13 Sentähden ovat he vilpistyneet valkeudesta, ja ei tunne sen tietä, ja ei palaja sen poluille.
These are of them that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.
14 Murhaaja nousee varhain ja tappaa köyhän ja tarvitsevan, ja on yöllä niinkuin varas.
The murderer riseth with the light, he killeth the poor and needy; and in the night he is as a thief.
15 Salavuoteisen silmät vartioitsevat hämärää, ja sanoo: ei minua yksikään silmä näe; ja luulee itsensä peitetyksi.
The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and he disguiseth his face.
16 Pimeässä hän kaivaa itsensä huoneisiin, jotka he päivällä ovat itsellensä merkinneet, ja ei tahdo tietää valkeutta.
In the dark they dig through houses: they shut themselves up in the daytime; they know not the light.
17 Sillä vaikka aamu heille tulis, on se heille niinkuin pimeys; sillä hän tuntee pimeyden kauhistuksen.
For the morning is to all of them as the shadow of death; for they know the terrors of the shadow of death.
18 Hän on keviä veden päällä, heidän osansa pitää kirotun oleman maalla; ja ei hän katso viinamäkien tietä.
He is swift upon the face of the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he turneth not by the way of the vineyards.
19 Helvetti ottaa syntiset pois niinkuin pouta, ja niinkuin kuivuus kuluttaa lumisen veden. (Sheol h7585)
Drought and heat consume the snow waters: [so doth] Sheol [those which] have sinned. (Sheol h7585)
20 Laupius pitää unhottaman hänen, madot syövät hänen makeutensa, ei häntä pidä muistettaman; hän pitää särjettämän niinkuin lahopuu.
The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered: and unrighteousness shall be broken as a tree.
21 Hän on saattanut murheelliseksi hedelmättömän, joka ei synnytä, ja ei tehnyt leskelle mitään hyvää.
He devoureth the barren that beareth not; and doeth not good to the widow.
22 Ja on vetänyt voimalliset allensa väellänsä; koska hän seisoo, ei pidä hänen tietämän elämästänsä.
He draweth away the mighty also by his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life.
23 Hän tekee itsellensä levon, johon hän luottaa, ja hänen silmänsä katsovat heidän teitänsä.
[God] giveth them to be in security, and they rest thereon; and his eyes are upon their ways.
24 He ovat vähän aikaa korotetut, vaan he tulevat tyhjään, ja kukistetaan, ja saavat lopun niinkuin kaikki kappaleet, ja niinkuin oas tähkäpäästä, lyödään he pois.
They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone; yea, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all other, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
25 Eikö se niin ole? kuka nuhtelee minua valhetteliaksi, ja minun sanani tyhjäksi tekee?
And if it be not so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth?
