Jeremian 43
1 Kuin Jeremia oli kaikki Herran heidän Jumalansa sanat kaikelle kansalle puhunut, niinkuin Herra heidän Jumalansa hänen oli lähettänyt sanomaan heille kaikki nämä sanat:
And it comes to pass, when Jeremiah finishes speaking to all the people all the words of their God YHWH, with which their God YHWH has sent him to them—all these words—

that Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all the proud men, speak to Jeremiah, saying, “You are speaking falsehood; our God YHWH has not sent you to say, Do not enter Egypt to sojourn there;
3 Mutta Baruk Nerijan poika yllyttää sinua meitä vastaan, että me annettaisiin Kaldealaisten käsiin, tapettaa ja vietää Babeliin.
for Baruch son of Neriah is moving you against us, in order to give us up into the hand of the Chaldeans, to put us to death, and to remove us to Babylon.”
4 Näin ei tahtonut Johanan Karean poika, ja kaikki sodanpäämiehet, ja kaikki kansa totella Herran ääntä, että he olisivat pysyneet Juudan maalla.
And Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces, and all the people, have not listened to the voice of YHWH, to dwell in the land of Judah;
5 Vaan Johanan Karean poika ja kaikki sodanpäämiehet ottivat tykönsä kaikki jääneet Juudasta, ne jotka kaikista kansoista sinne paenneet ja palanneet olivat asumaan Juudan maalla;
and Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces, take all the remnant of Judah who have turned from all the nations to where they were driven to sojourn in the land of Judah,
6 Miehet ja vaimot ja lapset, niin myös kuninkaan tyttäret, ja kaikki sielut, jotka Nebusaradan, huovinhaltia, Gedalian Ahikamin pojan, Saphanin pojan, haltuun oli jättänyt, ja propheta Jeremian ja Barukin Nerijan pojan.
the men, and the women, and the infant, and the daughters of the king, and every person that Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch son of Neriah,
7 Ja menivät Egyptin maalle, sillä ei he tahtoneet kuulla Herran ääntä, ja tulivat Tahpanhekseen.
and they enter the land of Egypt, for they have not listened to the voice of YHWH, and they come as far as Tahpanhes.
8 Ja Herran sana tapahtui Jeremialle Tahpanheksessa ja sanoi:
And there is a word of YHWH to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
9 Ota kätees suuret kivet, ja kaiva ne maahan tiilipätsiin, joka on Pharaon huoneen oven kohdalla Tahpanheksessa, niin että Juudan miehet sen näkevät.
“Take great stones in your hand, and you have hidden them in the clay in the brick-kiln, that [is] at the opening of the house of Pharaoh in Tahpanhes, before the eyes of the men of Judah,
10 Ja sano heille: näin sanoo Herra Zebaot, Israelin Jumala: katso, minä lähetän ja annan noutaa palveliani Nebukadnetsarin, Babelin kuninkaan, ja asetan hänen istuimensa näiden kivien päälle, jotka minä olen tähän maahan kaivanut; ja hän on paneva majansa sen päälle.
and you have said to them, Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: Behold, I am sending, and I have taken Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and I have set his throne above these stones that I have hid, and he has stretched out his pavilion over them,
11 Ja hän on tuleva ja lyövä Egyptin maata; jotka kuolemaan (aiotut ovat), ne (joutuvat) kuolemaan, ja jotka vankiuteen, ne vankiuteen, ja jotka miekkaan, ne miekkaan.
and he has come, and struck the land of Egypt—those who [are] for death to death, and those who [are] for captivity to captivity, and those who [are] for the sword to the sword.

And I have kindled a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt, and it has burned them, and he has taken them captive, and covered himself with the land of Egypt, as the shepherd covers himself with his garment, and he has gone forth there in peace;
13 Ja hänen pitää murskaksi lyömän Betsemeksen patsaat Egyptissä, ja polttaman Egyptin epäjumalain huoneet tulella.
and he has broken the standing pillars of the house of the sun, that [is] in the land of Egypt, and he burns the houses of the gods of Egypt with fire.”
