Jesajan 56
1 Näin sanoo Herra: pitäkäät oikeus, ja tehkäät vanhurskautta; sillä minun autuuteni on läsnä tulemassa, ja minun vanhurskauteni, että se ilmoitetaan.
Thus said Jehovah: 'Keep ye judgment, and do righteousness, For near [is] My salvation to come, And My righteousness to be revealed.'
2 Autuas on se ihminen, joka sen tekee, ja se ihmisen lapsi, joka sen käsittää: että hän pitäis sabbatin, eikä sitä arkioksi tekisi, ja pidättäis kätensä, ettei hän mitään pahaa tekisi.
O the happiness of a man who doth this, And of a son of man who keepeth hold on it, Keeping the sabbath from polluting it, And keeping his hand from doing any evil.
3 Ja muukalainen, joka Herraan on suostunut, ei pidä sanoman: Herra kaiketi eroittaa minun kansastansa; ja kuohittu ei pidä sanoman: katso, minä olen kuiva puu.
Nor speak let a son of the stranger, Who is joined unto Jehovah, saying: 'Jehovah doth certainly separate me from His people.' Nor say let the eunuch, 'Lo, I am a tree dried up,'
4 Sillä näin sanoo Herra kuohituille: jotka minun sabbatini pitävät, ja valitsevat mitä minulle kelpaa, ja lujasti pitävät minun liittoni:
For thus said Jehovah of the eunuchs, Who do keep My sabbaths, And have fixed on that which I desired, And are keeping hold on My covenant:
5 Niin minä annan heille minun huoneessani ja muurissani paikan, ja paremman nimen kuin pojilla ja tyttärillä on; ijankaikkisen nimen minä heille annan, jota ei pidä hävitettämän.
I have given to them in My house, And within My walls a station and a name, Better than sons and than daughters, A name age-during I give to him That is not cut off.
6 Ja muukalaisten lapsille, jotka Herraan suostuneet ovat häntä palvelemaan ja Herran nimeä rakastamaan, ja hänen palveliansa olemaan: jokainen heistä, joka sabbatin pitää, ettei hän sitä arkioksi tekisi, vaan pitäis lujasti minun liittoni,
And sons of the stranger, who are joined to Jehovah, To serve Him, and to love the name of Jehovah, To be to Him for servants, Every keeper of the sabbath from polluting it, And those keeping hold on My covenant.
7 Ne minä vien pyhän vuoreni tykö, ja ilahutan heitä minun rukoushuoneessani; heidän uhrinsa ja polttouhrinsa pitää minulle otolliset oleman minun alttarillani; sillä minun huoneeni pitää kutsuttaman kaikkein kansain rukoushuoneeksi.
I have brought them unto My holy mountain, And caused them to rejoice in My house of prayer, Their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices [Are] for a pleasing thing on Mine altar, For My house, 'A house of prayer,' Is called for all the peoples.
8 Herra, Herra, joka Israelin hyljätyt kokoo, sanoo: minä tahdon vielä enemmän hänen koottuinsa joukkoon koota.
An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Who is gathering the outcasts of Israel: 'Again I gather to him — to his gathered ones.'
9 Kaikki pedot kedolla, tulkaat ja syökäät, ja kaikki pedot metsässä.
Every beast of the field, Come to devour, every beast in the forest.
10 Kaikki heidän vartiansa ovat sokiat, eikä tiedä mitään, he ovat kaikki mykät koirat, jotka ei voi haukkua; he ovat laiskat, he makaavat ja unta rakastavat.
Blind [are] his watchmen — all of them, They have not known, All of them [are] dumb dogs, they are not able to bark, Dozing, lying down, loving to slumber.
11 Mutta he ovat häpeemättömät väkevät koirat, jotka ei ikänä taida tulla ravituiksi. Ei paimenet itsekään tiedä mitään eli ymmärrä; jokainen ottaa vaarin omasta tiestänsä, kukin noudattaa ahneuttansa hänen tilassansa.
And the dogs [are] strong of desire, They have not known sufficiency, And they [are] shepherds! They have not known understanding, All of them to their own way they did turn, Each to his dishonest gain from his quarter:
12 Tulkaat, ottakaamme viinaa ja juopukaamme, ja olkoon huomenna niinkuin tänäpänäkin, ja vielä paljo enempi.
'Come ye, I take wine, And we drink, quaff strong drink, And as this day hath been to-morrow, Great — exceeding abundant!'
