Heprealaisille 3
1 Sentähden pyhät veljet, jotka taivallisessa kutsumisessa osalliset olette! ottakaat vaari siitä apostolista ja ylimmäisestä Papista, jonka me tunnustamme, Kristuksesta Jesuksesta,
Therefore, holy brothers, comrades of a heavenly calling, fix your thoughts then upon Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession.
2 Joka on uskollinen sille, joka hänen tehnyt oli, niinkuin Moseskin koko hänen huoneeseensa.
How faithful he was to the God who appointed him! For while Moses also was faithful in all God’s house,
3 Mutta tämä on sitä suuremman kunnian ansainnut kuin Moses, että sillä suurempi kunnia huoneesta olis, joka sen rakensi, kuin itse huoneella.
Jesus has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who has built a house has higher honor than the house itself.
4 Sillä jokainen huone on joltakin rakennettu; mutta joka kaikki rakensi, se on Jumala.
For every house has its builder; but he who built the universe is God.
5 Ja Moses tosin oli uskollinen kaikessa hänen huoneessansa, niinkuin palvelia, niiden todistukseksi, joita sitte sanottaman piti;
And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, bearing testimony to a witness about to be spoken;
6 Mutta Kristus niinkuin Poika ylitse huoneensa, jonka huone me olemme, jos me muutoin uskalluksen ja toivon kerskaamisen loppuun asti vahvana pidämme.
but Christ as a Son in his own house; and we are that house, if we retain the cheerful courage and pride of our hope firm unto the end.
7 Sentähden, niinkuin Pyhä Henki sanoo: tänäpänä, jos te kuulette hänen äänensä,
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says. If you hear God’s voice today,
8 Niin älkäät paaduttako sydämiänne, niinkuin haikeudessa tapahtui kiusauksen päivänä korvessa,
Continue not to harden your hearts as in the Provocation, On the day of temptation in the wilderness,
9 Kussa teidän isänne minua kiusasivat: he koettelivat minua, ja näkivät minun työni neljäkymmentä ajastaikaa.
When your forefathers tried my forbearance And saw my deeds for forty years.
10 Sentähden minä närkästyin tämän sukukunnan päälle ja sanoin: aina he eksyvät sydämellänsä, mutta ei he tunteneet minun teitäni,
For this reason I was sore displeased with that generation, And said, "They are always wandering in their hearts; They have never learned my ways";
11 Niin että minä vannoin minun vihassani: ei heidän pidä minun lepooni tuleman.
So I swore in my wrath, "They shall never enter into my rest."
12 Katsokaat, rakkaat veljet, ettei teissä joskus olisi kelläkään paha, uskotoin sydän, joka elävästä Jumalasta luopuis,
See to it, brothers, that there shall never be in any one of you an evil and unbelieving heart, manifesting itself in apostasy from the living God.
13 Vaan neuvokaat teitänne keskenänne joka päivä, niinkauvan kuin tänäpänä sanotaan, ettei joku teistä synnin petoksen kautta paatuisi.
On the contrary, encourage each other daily, so long as there is a "Today," so that no one of you is hindered by the deceitfulness of sin.
14 Sillä me olemme Kristuksesta osallisiksi tulleet, jos me muutoin aljetun uskon loppuun asti vahvana pidämme,
For we are become comrades of the Christ, if we hold our first title deed firm until the very end.
15 Kuin sanotaan: tänäpänä, jos te kuulette hänen äänensä; niin älkäät paaduttako sydämiänne, niinkuin haikeudessa tapahtui.
In the words of Scripture, Today, if you hear his voice, Do not continue to harden your hearts as at the Provocation.
16 Sillä koska muutamat sen kuulivat, niin he vihoittivat hänen, vaan ei kaikki, jotka Egyptistä Moseksen kautta läksivät ulos.
For who were they that heard and yet provoked him? Was it not all who came out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses?
17 Mutta keille hän neljäkymmentä ajastaikaa vihainen oli? eikö niille, jotka syntiä tekivät, joiden ruumiit korvessa hukkuivat?
And with whom was he grieved for forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, and whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?
18 Mutta keille hän vannoi, ettei heidän pitänyt hänen lepoonsa tuleman? eikö uskomattomille?
And to whom did he swear that they should never enter into his rest, if not to those who had proved faithless?
19 Ja me näemme, ettei he voineet epäuskon tähden sinne tulla.
So you see that it was through unbelief that they were not able to enter in.
