1 Mooseksen 2
1 Ja niin taivas ja maa päätettiin, ja kaikki heidän joukkonsa.
Thus were finished the heavens and the earth and all their host.
2 Ja Jumala oli päättänyt seitsemänteen päivään (asti) työnsä, kuin hän tehnyt oli, ja lepäsi seitsemäntenä päivänä kaikista teoistansa, kuin hän tehnyt oli.
Thus God finished, on the seventh day his work which he had made, and rested, on the seventh day, from all his work which he had made.
3 Ja Jumala siunasi seitsemännen päivän ja pyhitti sen; että hän lepäsi hänessä kaikista teoistansa, jotka Jumala loi ja (täydellisesti) teki.
And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it, —because therein, rested he from all his work which God, by creating, had made.
4 Ja näin on taivas ja maa tullut, koska he luotiin, sillä ajalla jolla Herra Jumala teki maan ja taivaan.
These are the geneses of the heavens and the earth when they were created, —in the day when Yahweh God made earth and heavens.
5 Ja kaikkinaiset pensaat kedolla, jotka ei ennen olleet maan päällä, ja kaikkinaiset ruohot kedolla, jotka ei ennen kasvaneet. Sillä ei Herra Jumala antanut vielä sataa maan päälle, eikä ollut ihmistä, joka maata viljeli;
Now, no bush of the field, as yet—was in the earth, and, no herb of the field, as yet had sprung up, —because Yahweh God had not sent rain on the earth, and, man, was there none to till the ground;
6 Vaan sumu nousi maasta, ja kasti kaiken maan.
but, a vapour, went up from the earth, —and watered all the face of the ground.
7 Ja Herra Jumala teki ihmisen, tomun maasta, ja puhalsi hänen sieraimiinsa elävän hengen: ja tuli ihminen niin eläväksi sieluksi.
So then Yahweh God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed in his nostrils the breath of life—and man became a living soul.
8 Ja Herra Jumala istutti Paradisin Edenissä itään päin, ja pani siihen ihmisen, jonka hän tehnyt oli.
And Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, on the east, —and put there the man whom he had formed.
9 Ja Herra Jumala kasvatti maasta kaikkinaiset puut, ihanaiset nähdä ja hyvät syödä, ja elämän puun keskelle Paradisia, niin myös hyvän ja pahan tiedon puun.
And Yahweh God, caused to spring up, out of the ground, every tree pleasant to the sight and good for food, —and the tree of life, in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 Ja Edenistä kävi virta kastamaan Paradisia, ja jakoi sieltä itsensä neljäksi päävirraksi.
Now, a river, was coming forth out of Eden, to water the garden, —and, from thence, it parted, and became four heads,
11 Ensimäinen kutsutaan Pison: se juoksee koko Hevilan maan ympärinsä, ja siellä on kultaa.
The name of the one, is Pishon, —the same, is that which surroundeth all the land of Havilah, where is gold;
12 Ja sen maan kulta on kallis, ja siellä myös löytään Bedellion, ja kallis kivi Oniks.
moreover the gold of that land, is good, —there, is the bdellium, and the beryl stone,
13 Toinen virta kutsutaan Gihon: se juoksee koko Etiopian ympärinsä.
And the name of the second river, is Gihon, —the same, is that which surroundeth all the land of Cush,
14 Kolmas virta kutsutaan Hiddekel, ja juoksee Assyrian editse. Ja neljäs virta on Phrat.
And, the name of the third river, is Hiddekel, the same, is that which goeth in front of Assyria; and the fourth river, is Euphrates.
15 Ja Herra Jumala otti ihmisen, ja pani Edenissä Paradisiin, viljelemään ja varjelemaan sitä.
So Yahweh God took the man, —and placed him in the garden of Eden, to till it and to keep it.
16 Ja Herra Jumala käski ihmistä, ja sanoi: syö vapaasti kaikkinaisista puista Paradisissa;
And Yahweh God laid command on the man, saying, —Of every tree of the garden, thou mayest eat;
17 Mutta hyvän ja pahan tiedon puusta älä syö: sillä jona päivänä sinä siitä syöt, pitää sinun kuolemalla kuoleman.
but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, —for in the day thou eatest thereof, thou shalt die.
18 Ja Herra Jumala sanoi: ei ole hyvä ihmisen yksinänsä olla, minä teen hänelle avun, joka hänen tykönänsä oleman pitää.
And Yahweh God said, It is, not good, that the man should remain alone, —I will make for him a helper as his counterpart.
19 Koska Herra Jumala oli tehnyt maasta kaikkinaiset eläimet kedolle, ja kaikkinaiset taivaan linnut, toi hän ne Adamin eteen, että hän näkis, kuinka hän ne nimittäis: sillä niinkuin Adam kaikkinaiset eläimet nimitti, niin ne kutsutaan.
Now Yahweh God had formed from the ground every living thing of the field and every bird of the heavens, which he brought in unto the man, that he might see what he should call it, —and, whatsoever the man should call it—any living soul, that, should be the name thereof.
20 Ja Adam antoi kullekin karjalle, ja taivaan linnuille, ja eläimille maan päällä heidän nimensä. Mutta Adamille ei löytty apua, joka hänen tykönänsä olisi.
So the man gave names to all the tame-beasts, and to the birds of the heavens, and to all the wild-beasts of the field, —but, for man, had there not been found a helper as his counterpart.
21 Ja Herra jumala pani raskaan unen Adamiin, ja kuin hän nukkui, otti hän yhden hänen kylkiluistansa, ja täytti sen paikan lihalla.
So Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept, —and he took one of his ribs, and closed up flesh instead thereof.
22 Ja Herra Jumala rakensi vaimon siitä kylkiluusta, jonka hän Adamista otti, ja toi sen hänen eteensä.
And Yahweh God builded the rib which he had taken from the man, into a woman, and brought her in unto the man.
23 Niin sanoi Adam: tämä on nyt luu minun luistani, ja liha minun lihastani: se pitää kutsuttaman miehiseksi, sillä hän on otettu miehestä.
And the man said, This, one, now, is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh! This, one shall be called Woman, for, out of a man, hath this one been taken.
24 Sentähden pitää miehen luopuman isästänsä ja äidistänsä, ja vaimoonsa sidottu oleman, ja tulevat yhdeksi lihaksi.
For this cause, will a man leave his father and his mother, and cleave unto his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
25 Ja he olivat molemmat alasti, Adam ja hänen emäntänsä, ja ei hävenneet.
And they were both of them naked, the man and his wife, —and put not each other to shame.
