2 Mooseksen 18

1 Ja Jetro Midianin pappi, Moseksen appi kuuli kaikki, mitä Jumala Mosekselle ja Israelin kansalle oli tehnyt: että Herra oli johdattanut Israelin pois Egyptistä.

And he heard Jethro [the] priest of Midian [the] father-in-law of Moses all that he had done God for Moses and for Israel people his that he had brought out Yahweh Israel from Egypt.

2 Ja Jetro Moseksen appi otti Ziporan Moseksen emännän, jonka hän oli takaperin lähettänyt,

And he had taken Jethro [the] father-in-law of Moses Zipporah [the] wife of Moses after dismissal her.

3 Ja kaksi hänen poikaansa, joista yhden nimi oli Gersom, sillä hän sanoi: minä olin muukalainen vieraalla maalla.

And [the] two sons her who [the] name of the one [was] Gershom for he had said a sojourner I have become in a land foreign.

4 Ja toisen nimi oli Elieser, sillä (hän sanoi) minun isäni Jumala on ollut minun apuni, ja on pelastanut minun Pharaon miekasta.

And [the] name of the one [was] Eliezer for [the] God of father my [has been] help my and he has delivered me from [the] sword of Pharaoh.

5 Niin Jetro Moseksen appi, ja hänen poikansa, ja hänen emäntänsä tulivat Moseksen tykö siihen korpeen, kussa hän itsensä sioittanut oli Jumalan vuorella.

And he came Jethro [the] father-in-law of Moses and sons his and wife his to Moses into the wilderness where he [was] encamped there [the] mountain of God.

6 Ja antoi sanoa Mosekselle: minä Jetro sinun appes olen tullut sinun tykös, ja sinun emäntäs, ja molemmat hänen poikansa hänen kanssansa.

And he said to Moses I father-in-law your Jethro [am] coming to you and wife your and [the] two sons her with her.

7 Niin meni Moses appeansa vastaan, kumarsi itsensä, ja suuta antoi hänen; ja koska he olivat tervehtineet toinen toistansa, menivät he majaan.

And he went out Moses to meet father-in-law his and he bowed down and he kissed him and they asked each of neighbor his to welfare and they went the tent towards.

8 Niin jutteli Moses apellensa kaikki, mitä Herra tehnyt oli Pharaolle, ja Egyptiläisille Israelin tähden, ja kaiken sen vaivan joka heillä tiellä oli ollut, ja että Herra oli auttanut heitä.

And he recounted Moses to father-in-law his all that he had done Yahweh to Pharaoh and to Egypt on [the] causes of Israel all the hardship which it had come upon them on the journey and he had delivered them Yahweh.

9 Ja Jetro riemuitsi kaiken sen hyvyyden ylitse, jonka Herra oli tehnyt Israelille, että hän oli pelastanut heitä Egyptiläisten kädestä.

And he rejoiced Jethro on all the good which he had done Yahweh to Israel whom he had delivered it from [the] hand of Egypt.

10 Ja Jetro sanoi: kiitetty olkoon Herra, joka teidät pelastanut on Egyptiläisten ja Pharaon kädestä: joka on vapahtanut kansansa Egyptiläisten käden alta.

And he said Jethro [be] blessed Yahweh who he has delivered you from [the] hand of Egypt and from [the] hand of Pharaoh who he has delivered the people from under [the] hand of Egypt.

11 Nyt minä tiedän, että Herra on suurempi kuin kaikki Jumalat; sillä siinä asiassa, jossa ylpeilivät, oli hän heidän ylitsensä (valtias).

Now I know that [is] great Yahweh more than all the gods for in the matter which they have acted presumptuously on them.

12 Ja Jetro Moseksen appi otti polttouhria ja muuta uhria Jumalalle. Niin tuli Aaron ja kaikki vanhimmat Israelista syömään leipää Moseksen apen kanssa Jumalan edessä.

And he took Jethro [the] father-in-law of Moses a burnt offering and sacrifices to God and he came Aaron and all - [the] elders of Israel to eat food with [the] father-in-law of Moses before God.

13 Ja tapahtui toisena päivänä, että Moses istui oikeutta tekemään kansalle; ja kansa seisoi Moseksen ympärillä aamusta niin ehtooseen asti.

And it was from [the] next day and he sat Moses to judge the people and it stood the people at Moses from the morning until the evening.

14 Koska Moseksen appi näki kaikki, mitä hän teki kansalle, sanoi hän: mikä tämä on kuin sinä teet kansalle? Miksis sinä istut yksinäs, ja kaikki kansa seisoo sinun edessäs, hamasta aamusta niin ehtooseen?

And he saw [the] father-in-law of Moses all that he [was] doing for the people and he said what? [is] the thing this which you [are] doing for the people why? [are] you sitting to alone you and all the people [is] standing at you from morning until evening.

15 Moses vastasi appeansa: sillä kansa tulee minun tyköni, ja kysyy Jumalalta neuvoa.

And he said Moses to father-in-law his thatr it comes to me the people to consult God.

16 Koska heillä on jotakin asiaa, tulevat he minun tyköni, että minun pitää oikeutta tekemän jokaisen välillä ja hänen lähimmäisensä välillä, ja osottaman heille Jumalan oikeudet ja käskyt.

For it will be[long] to them a matter [it is] coming to me and I judge between each and between neighbor his and I make known [the] statutes of God and laws his.

17 Ja Moseksen appi sanoi hänelle: ei se ole hyvä kuin sinä teet.

And he said [the] father-in-law of Moses to him not [is] good the thing which you [are] doing.

18 Sinä väsytät peräti sekä itses että tämän kansan joka sinun kanssas on; sillä tämä asia on sinulle ylen raskas, et taida sinä sitä yksinäs toimittaa.

Certainly you will wear yourself out both you as well as the people this which [is] with you for [is too] heavy for you the thing not you are able to do it to alone you.

19 Nyt kuule minun ääneni, minä neuvon sinua, ja Jumala on sinun kanssas. Ole sinä kansan puolesta Jumalan edessä, ja tuota heidän asiansa Jumalan eteen.

Now listen to voice my let me advise you and may he be God with you be you for the people in front of God and you will bring you the matters to God.

20 Ja muistuta heille oikeudet ja käskyt: osota heille tie, jota heidän vaeltaman pitää, ja ne työt mitkä heidän tekemän pitää.

And you will warn them the statutes and the laws and you will make known to them the way [which] they will walk in it and the work which they will do!

21 Niin etsi sinä kaiken kansan seasta vaat miehet, Jumalaa pelkääväiset, totuuden miehet, ne jotka ahneutta vihaavat: ja aseta ne heille päämiehiksi, tuhanten päälle, sadan päälle, viidenkymmenen päälle, ja kymmenen päälle,

And you you will provide from all the people men of ability [those] fearing God men of faithfulness [who] hate unjust gain and you will appoint over them officials of thousands officials of hundreds officials of fifties and officials of tens.

22 Että ne aina kansalle oikeuden tekisivät: mutta kuin joku raskas asia tulee, että he sen tuovat sinun eteesi mutta kaikki pienet asiat he itse ratkaiskaan: niin huojenna jotakin itseltäs, ja he kantavat kuormaa sinun kanssas.

And they will judge the people at every time and it will be every matter great they will bring to you and every matter small they will judge they and lighten from on yourself and they will bear with you.

23 Jos sinä sen teet, ja Jumala sen sinulle käskee, niin sinä taidat voimassa pysyä, niin myös kaikki tämä kansa saa mennä kotiansa rauhassa.

If the thing this you will do and he will command you God and you will be able to endure and also all the people this to place its it will go in peace.

24 Ja Moses kuuli appensa äänen, ja teki kaikki mitä hän sanoi.

And he listened Moses to [the] voice father-in-law his and he did all that he had said.

25 Ja valitsi vaat miehet kaikesta Israelista, ja asetti heidät kansan päämiehiksi, tuhanten päälle, sadan päälle, viidenkymmenen päälle, ja kymmenen päälle,

And he chose Moses men of ability from all Israel and he appointed them chiefs over the people of icials of thousands officials of hundreds officials of fifties and officials of tens.

26 Jotka tekivät kansalle oikeuden joka aika. Mutta jotka raskaat asiat olivat, lykkäsivät he Moseksen alle; vaan kaikki pienet asiat he itse ratkasivat.

And they judged the people at every time the matter difficult they brought! to Moses and every matter small they judged they.

27 Niin Moses antoi appensa mennä ja hän meni omalle maallensa.

And he sent off Moses father-in-law his and he went himself to land his.
