Efesolaisille 6
1 Lapset, olkaat kuuliaiset teidän vanhemmillenne Herrassa; sillä se on oikein.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord; for this is right.
2 Kunnioita isääs ja äitiäs, (joka on ensimäinen käsky, jolla lupaus on, )
“Honor thy father and mother;” which is the first commandment with a promise;
3 Ettäs menestyisit ja kauvan eläisit maan päällä.
“that it may be well with thee, and thou mayst live long on the earth.”
4 Ja te isät, älkäät yllyttäkö lapsianne vihaan, vaan kasvattakaat heitä kurituksessa ja Herran nuhteessa.
And, ye fathers, stir not up the anger of your children, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
5 Palveliat, olkaat kuuliaiset teidän ruumiillisille isännillenne, pelvolla ja vapistuksella, teidän sydämenne yksinkertaisuudessa, niinkuin Kristukselle,
Bond-servants, obey your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as serving Christ;
6 Ei silmäin edessä palvellen, niinkuin ihmisten mieltä noutain, vaan niinkuin Kristuksen palveliat, tehden sydämestä, mitä Jumala tahtoo.
not with eye-service as men-pleasers, but as bond-servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 Hyvällä mielellä palvellen Herraa, ja ei ihmisiä.
doing service with good will, as to the Lord, and not to men;
8 Tietäen, että mitä hyvää kukin tekee, sen hän on jälleen Herralta saapa, olkoon orja eli vapaa.
knowing that whatever good each one shall have done, that shall he receive from the Lord, whether he be bondman or free.
9 Ja te isännät, tehkäät myös niin heitä kohtaan, ja pankaat pois uhkaukset, tietäen, että teidän Herranne on myös taivaissa, jonka edessä ei ole ihmisen muodon katsomusta.
And, ye masters, do the same things to them, forbearing threatening; knowing that both they and you have a Master in heaven, and that there is no respect of persons with him.
10 Viimein, rakkaat veljeni, olkaat väkevät Herrassa ja hänen väkevyytensä voimassa.
Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Pukekaat päällenne kaikki Jumalan sota-aseet, että te perkeleen kavalia päällekarkaamisia voisitte seisoa vastaan.
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil;
12 Sillä ei meillä ole sota verta ja lihaa vastaan, vaan pääruhtinaita ja valtoja vastaan, maailman herroja vastaan, jotka tämän maailman pimeydessä vallitsevat, pahoja henkiä vastaan taivaan alla. (aiōn g165)
for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of evil in the heavenly regions. (aiōn g165)
13 Sentähden ottakaat kaikki Jumalan sota-aseet, että te voisitte pahana päivänä seisoa vastaan ja kaikissa asioissa pysyväiset olisitte.
Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Niin seisokaat vyötetyt kupeista totuudella, ja vanhurskauden rintaraudalla puetetut,
Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breast-plate of righteousness,
15 Ja jalat valmiiksi kengitetyt, saarnaamaan rauhan evankeliumia.
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Mutta kaikissa ottakaat uskon kilpi, jolla te voitte sammuttaa kaikki ruman tuliset nuolet.
taking up, in addition to all, the shield of faith, by which ye will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the Evil One;
17 Ja ottakaat päähänne autuuden rautalakki, ja hengen miekka, joka on Jumalan sana,
and receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 Ja rukoilkaat joka aika kaikella rukoilemisella ja anomisella hengessä, ja siinä valvokaat kaikella ahkeruudella ja rukouksella kaikkein pyhäin tähden,
praying with all prayer and entreaty at all times in the Spirit; and watching to this end with all perseverance and entreaty for all the saints,
19 Ja minunkin tähteni, että minulle puhetta annettaisiin avoimella suulla rohkiasti puhuakseni, ja niin tiettäväksi tekisin evankeliumin salaisuuden.
and for me, that utterance may be given me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,
20 Jonka käskyläinen minä näissä kahleissa olen, että minä niissä rohkiasti puhuisin, niinkuin minun puhua tulee.
in behalf of which I am an ambassador in chains; that I may proclaim it boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 Mutta että te myös tietäisitte minun tilani ja mitä minä teen, kaiken sen on Tykikus, minun rakas veljeni ja uskollinen palvelia Herrassa, teille tiettäväksi tekevä,
But that ye also may know about me, how I am faring, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will inform you of everything;
22 Jonka minä teidän tykönne lähetin sen syyn tähden, että te saisitte tietää meidän tilamme ja hän teidän sydämenne lohduttais.
whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that ye may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts.
23 Rauha olkoon veljille, ja rakkaus uskon kanssa, Isältä Jumalalta ja Herralta Jesukselta Kristukselta!
Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Armo olkoon kaikkein kanssa, jotka meidän Herraa Jesusta Kristusta lakkaamatta rakastavat, amen!
Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an incorruptible love.
