5 Mooseksen 2
1 Silloin me palasimme ja matkustimme korpeen Punaisen meren tietä, niinkuin Herra minulle sanonut oli, ja vaelsimme Seirin vuorta ympäri kauvan aikaa.
Then we turned, and tooke our iourney into the wildernes, by the way of the red Sea, as the Lord spake vnto me: and we compassed mount Seir a long time.
2 Ja Herra puhui minulle, sanoen:
And the Lord spake vnto me, saying,
3 Jo te olette kyllä vaeltaneet tätä vuorta ympäri, palatkaat pohjoiseen päin.
Ye haue compassed this mountaine long ynough: turne you Northward.
4 Ja käski kansalle, sanoen: teidän pitää vaeltaman teidän veljenne Esaun lasten rajain ylitse, jotka Seirissä asuvat, ja he pelkäävät teitä; mutta karttakaat teitänne sangen visusti.
And warne thou the people, saying, Ye shall go through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir, and they shall be afraide of you: take ye good heede therefore.
5 Älkäät alkako sotaa heitä vastaan; sillä en minä anna teille jalankaan leveyttä heidän maastansa; sillä Esaun lapsille olen minä antanut Seirin vuoren perimiseksi.
Ye shall not prouoke them: for I wil not giue you of their land so much as a foot breadth, because I haue giuen mount Seir vnto Esau for a possession.
6 Rahalla pitää teidän heiltä ruuan ostaman, jonka te syötte, niin myös veden pitää teidän heiltä rahalla ostaman, jota te juotte:
Ye shall buy meate of them for money to eate, and ye shall also procure water of them for money to drinke.
7 Sillä Herra sinun Jumalas on siunannut sinun, kaikissa sinun kättes töissä, hän tietää sinun matkustukses tässä suuressa korvessa. Jo neljäkymmentä ajastaikaa on Herra sinun Jumalas ollut sinun kanssas, niin ettei sinulta mitäkään ole puuttunut.
For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the workes of thine hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wildernes, and the Lord thy God hath bene with thee this fourtie yeere, and thou hast lacked nothing.
8 Kuin me veljemme Esaun lasten tyköä vaeltaneet olimme, jotka Seirin vuorella asuivat, sitä kedon tietä Elatista ja Etseongeberistä, niin palasimme me, ja menimme Moabin korven tietä.
And when we were departed from our brethren the children of Esau which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plaine, from Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and went by the way of the wildernes of Moab.
9 Ja Herra sanoi minulle: älä vahingoitse Moabilaisia, älä myös sekoita itsiäs sotaan heidän kanssansa; silä en minä anna sinulle mitäkään hänen maastansa perimiseksi; sillä Lotin lapsille olen minä antanut Arin perimiseksi.
Then the Lord sayd vnto me, Thou shalt not vexe Moab, neither prouoke them to battel: for I wil not giue thee of their land for a possession, because I haue giuen Ar vnto the children of Lot for a possession.
10 Emiläiset ovat muinen sillä paikalla asuneet, jotka olivat suuri, väkevä ja pitkä kansa, niinkuin Enakilaiset;
The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great and many, and tall, as the Anakims.
11 He luultiin myös Refalaisiksi, niinkuin Enakilaiset, ja Moabilaiset kutsuivat heitä Emiläisiksi.
They also were taken for gyants as the Anakims: whom the Moabites call Emims.
12 Asuivat myös muinen Horilaiset Seirissä, ja Esaun lapset ajoivat pois ja hukuttivat ne edestänsä, ja asuivat heidän siassansa: niinkuin Israel teki perintömaassansa, jonka Herra heille antoi.
The Horims also dwelt in Seir before time, whome the children of Esau chased out and destroyed them before them, and dwelt in their steade: as Israel shall doe vnto the land of his possession, which the Lord hath giuen them.
13 Niin nouskaat nyt, ja matkustakaat Saredin ojan ylitse. Ja me vaelsimme Saredin ojan ylitse.
Now rise vp, sayd I, and get you ouer the riuer Zered: and we went ouer the riuer Zered.
14 Vaan aika, kuin me matkustimme KadesBarneasta, siihen asti kuin me tulimme Saredin ojan ylitse, oli kahdeksan vuotta neljättäkymmentä, siihenasti kuin kaikki sotamiehet leirissä olivat hukkuneet, niinkuin Herra heille vannonut oli.
The space also wherein we came from Kadesh-barnea, vntill we were come ouer the riuer Zered, was eight and thirtie yeeres, vntill all the generation of the men of warre were wasted out from among the hoste, as the Lord sware vnto them.
15 Sillä Herran käsi oli heitä vastaan, hukuttamaan heitä leirissä, siihenasti kuin hän peräti lopetti heidät.
For in deede the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the hoste, till they were consumed.
16 Kuin kaikki sotamiehet olivat loppuneet ja kuolleet kansan seasta,
So when all the men of warre were consumed and dead from among the people:
17 Puhui Herra minulle, ja sanoi:
Then the Lord spake vnto me, saying,
18 Tänäpänä pitää sinun matkustaman Moabin rajain yli, lähellä Aria.
Thou shalt goe through Ar the coast of Moab this day:
19 Ja kuin lähestyt Ammonin lapsia, älä heitä vahingoitse, älä myös sekoita itsiäs sotaan heidän kanssansa; sillä en minä anna sinulle Ammonin lasten maata perimiseksi; vaan Lotin lapsille olen minä sen antanut perimiseksi.
And thou shalt come neere ouer against the children of Ammon: but shalt not lay siege vnto them, nor moue warre against them: for I will not giue thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession: for I haue giuen it vnto the children of Lot for a possession.
20 Se on myös luettu Refalaisten maaksi; sillä Refalaiset ovat muinen siinä asuneet. Ja Ammonilaiset kutsuvat heidät Samsumilaisiksi.
That also was taken for a land of gyants: for gyants dwelt therein afore time, whome the Ammonites called Zamzummims:
21 Sillä he olivat suuri, väkevä ja pitkä kansa, niinkuin Enakilaiset. Ja Herra hävitti heitä heidän edestänsä, niin että he ajoivat heidät ulos, ja asuivat heidän siassansa.
A people that was great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims: but the Lord destroyed them before them, and they succeeded them in their inheritance, and dwelt in their stead:
22 Niinkuin hän oli tehnyt Esaun lapsille Seirin vuorella asuvaisille, hävittäissänsä Horilaiset heidän edestänsä, niin että he ovat heidät ajaneet ulos, ja asuneet heidän siassansa tähän päivään asti.
As he did to the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims before them, and they possessed them, and dwelt in their stead vnto this day.
23 Availaiset asuivat maakylissä Gatsaan asti; mutta Kaphtorilaiset läksivät Kaphtorista ja hävittivät ne, ja asuivat heidän siassansa.
And the Auims which dwelt in Hazarim euen vnto Azzah, the Caphtorims which came out of Caphtor destroyed them, and dwelt in their steade.
24 Nouskaat ja lähtekäät, ja matkustakaat Arnonin ojan ylitse: katso, minä annoin sinun käsiis Sihonin Amorilaisten kuninkaan Hesbonissa, mainensa, rupee siis omistamaan, ja sotimaan häntä vastaan.
Rise vp therefore, sayd the Lord: take your iourney, and passe ouer the riuer Arnon: beholde, I haue giuen into thy hand Sihon, the Amorite, King of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possesse it and prouoke him to battell.
25 Tänäpänä minä alan tuottamaan kaiken kansan päälle koko taivaan alla pelvon ja vapisemisen sinun edessäs, niin että he, sanoman sinusta kuultuansa, pitää värisemän, ja surulliset oleman sinun edessäs.
This day wil I begin to send thy feare and thy dread, vpon all people vnder the whole heauen, which shall heare thy fame, and shall tremble and quake before thee.
26 Niin minä lähetin sanansaattajat Kedemotin korvesta Sihonille Hesbonin kuninkaalle rauhallisilla sanoilla, sanoen:
Then I sent messengers out of the wildernes of Kedemoth vnto Sihon King of Heshbon, with wordes of peace, saying,
27 Minä tahdon vaeltaa sinun maakuntais lävitse, ja niinkuin tie antaa, niin minä vaellan: en minä oikialle puolelle enkä vasemmalle poikkee.
Let me passe through thy land: I will go by the hie way: I will neither turne vnto the right hand nor to the left.
28 Ruokaa pitää sinun rahan edestä antaman minulle syödä, ja vettä rahan edestä juoda: minä käyn vaivoin joudukkaasti sen lävitse,
Thou shalt sell me meate for money, for to eate, and shalt giue me water for money for to drinke: onely I will go through on my foote,
29 Niinkuin Esaun lapset, jotka Seirissä asuvat, minulle tehneet ovat, ja Moabilaiset, jotka Arissa asuvat, siihenasti että minä tulen Jordanin ylitse, siihen maahan, jonka Herra meidän Jumalamme antaa meille.
(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did vnto me) vntill I be come ouer Iorden, into the land which the Lord our God giueth vs.
30 Vaan ei Sihon Hesbonin kuningas tahtonut meidän antaa vaeltaa sen lävitse; sillä Herra sinun Jumalas kovetti hänen mielensä ja paadutti hänen sydämensä, että Herra tahtoi antaa hänen sinun käsiis, niinkuin tänäpäivänä on.
But Sihon the King of Heshbon would not let vs passe by him: for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, because hee would deliuer him into thine hand, as appeareth this day.
31 Ja Herra sanoi minulle: katso, minä olen ruvennut antamaan Sihonin kuninkaan ja hänen maansa sinun etees: rupee omistamaan ja perintönäs pitämään hänen maatansa.
And the Lord sayd vnto me, Beholde, I haue begun to giue Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possesse and inherite his land.
32 Ja Sihon läksi sotimaan meitä vastaan, hän ja kaikki hänen väkensä Jaksassa.
Then came out Sihon to meete vs, him selfe with all his people to fight at Iahaz.
33 Mutta Herra meidän Jumalamme antoi hänen meidän eteemme, ja me löimme hänen ja hänen lapsensa ja kaikki hänen väkensä.
But the Lord our God deliuered him into our power, and we smote him, and his sonnes, and all his people.
34 Ja me otimme silloin kaikki hänen kaupunkinsa, ja hukutimme kaikki kaupungit, miehet ja vaimot ja lapset, niin ettemme yhtäkään jättäneet,
And we tooke all his cities the same time, and destroyed euery citie, men, and women, and children: we let nothing remaine.
35 Paitsi eläimiä jotka me meillemme otimme, ja kaupunkein saaliin, jotka me voitimme,
Onely the cattell we tooke to our selues, and the spoyle of the cities which we tooke,
36 Hamasta Aroerista Arnonin ojan reunalla, ja siitä kaupungista ojan vieressä, niin Gileadiin asti. Ei yhtäkään kaupunkia ollut, joka taisi olla meitä väkevämpi: Herra meidän Jumalamme antoi kaikki meidän allemme.
From Aroer, which is by the banke of the riuer of Arnon, and from the citie that is vpon the riuer, euen vnto Gilead: there was not one citie that escaped vs: for the Lord our God deliuered vp all before vs.
37 Vaan Ammonin lasten maahan et sinä tullut, etkä mihinkään, joka oli Jabbokin ojan tykönä, eikä niihin kaupunkeihin vuorella, taikka johonkuhun muuhun, josta Herra meidän Jumalamme meitä kieltänyt on.
Onely vnto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor vnto any place of the riuer Iabbok, nor vnto the cities in the mountaines, nor vnto whatsoeuer the Lord our God forbade vs.
