5 Mooseksen 13

1 Jos propheta eli unennäkiä nousee teidän seassanne, ja antaa teille merkin eli ihmeen,

When there shall arise in thy midst—a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, —and he shall give unto thee a sign or a wonder;

2 Ja se merkki eli ihme tapahtuu niin, josta hän puhui sinulle, sanoen: käykäämme ja noudattakaamme vieraita jumalia, joita et sinä tunne, ja palvelkaamme heitä;

and the sign or the wonder shall come in, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, —Let us go after other gods, which ye know not and let us serve them

3 Niin ei sinun pidä kuuleman sen prophetan eli unennäkiän sanoja, sillä Herra teidän Jumalanne koettelee teitä, tietääksensä, rakastatteko Herraa teidän Jumalaanne kaikesta sydämestänne ja kaikesta sielustanne.

thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or unto that dreamer of dreams, —for Yahweh your God, is putting you to the proof, to know whether ye do love Yahweh your God, with all your heart and with all your soul.

4 Herraa, teidän Jumalaanne pitää teidän noudattaman ja häntä pelkäämän, ja hänen käskynsä pitämän ja hänen ääntänsä kuuleman, häntä palveleman ja hänessä kiinni riippuman.

After Yahweh your God, shall ye walk And him, shall ye revere, —And his commandments, shall ye observe. And unto his voice, shall ye hearken, And him, shall ye serve And unto him, shall ye cleave.

5 Vaan sen prophetan eli unennäkiän pitää kuoleman; sillä se opetti teitä luopumaan Herrasta teidän Jumalastanne, joka teidät Egyptin maalta johdatti ulos ja sinun orjuuden huoneesta pelasti, ja se vietteli sinun siltä tieltä, jota Herra sinun Jumalas käski sinun käymään: ja sinun pitää eroittaman pois pahan seastas.

And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death because he hath spoken revolt against Yahweh your God, —who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt and redeemed thee out of the house of servants, to seduce thee out of the way wherein Yahweh thy God hath commanded thee to walk, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst.

6 Jos veljes, äitis poika, eli sinun poikas, eli tyttäres, eli emäntäs, joka sinun sylissäs on, eli ystäväs, joka on kuin oma sydämes, viettelis sinua salaa, ja sanois: käykäämme ja palvelkaamme muita jumalia, joita et sinä tunne eikä sinun isäskään,

When thy brother—son of thine own mother or thine own son or thine own daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend who is as thine own soul, shall entice thee secretly, saying, —Let us go and serve other gods, whom thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

7 Kansain jumalia teidän ympäristöllänne, joko he läsnä eli kaukana ovat, yhdestä maan äärestä niin toiseen;

of the gods of the peoples who are round about you, who are near unto thee, or who are far off from thee, —from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth,

8 Niin älä siihen mielisty, älä myös ole hänelle kuuliainen, ja ei sinun silmäs pidä säästämän häntä: ei ensinkään pidä sinun armaitseman eli salaaman häntä.

thou shalt not consent unto him, neither shalt thou hearken unto him, —neither shall thine eye look with pity upon him, neither shalt thou spare—neither shalt thou conceal him;

9 Mutta sinun pitää kaiketikin surmaaman hänen, sinun kätes pitää ensin hänen päällensä oleman, että hän surmattaisiin, ja sen perästä kaiken kansan käsi.

but thou shalt slay, him, thine own hand, shall be on him first, to put him to death, —and the hand of all the people afterwards.

10 Hän pitää kivillä surmattaman, ja hänen pitää kuoleman, sillä hän ahkeroitsi luovuttaa sinua Herrasta sinun Jumalastas, joka sinun Egyptin maalta, orjuuden huoneesta on johdattanut ulos,

And thou shalt stone him with stones that he die, —for he hath sought to seduce thee from Yahweh thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of servants.

11 Että koko Israel sen kuulis ja pelkäis, eikä silleen sen muotoista pahuutta teidän seassanne tekisi.

And, all Israel, shall hear and fear, —and shall not again do according to this wickedness in thy midst.

12 Jos saat kuulla jossakussa kaupungissas, jonka Herra sinun Jumalas sinulle antaa asuakses, sanottavan:

When thou shalt hear—in one of thy cities which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee to dwell there—saying:

13 Muutamat Belialin lapset ovat lähteneet sinun seastas, ja kääntäneet kaupunkinsa asujat pois, ja sanoneet: käykäämme ja palvelkaamme muita jumalia, joita ette tunne,

There have gone forth men sons of the Abandoned One, out of thy midst, and have seduced the inhabitants of their city, saying, —Let us go, and serve other gods which ye have not known;

14 Niin pitää sinun etsimän, tutkiman, ja kyselemän visusti, ja jos todeksi löydetään, että se niin on tosi, että se kauhistus teidän seassanne tapahtunut on;

and thou shalt enquire, and search out, and ask diligently, —and lo! true—certain, is the thing, this abomination, hath been done, in thy midst,

15 Niin pitää sinun lyömän sen kaupungin asujat miekan terällä, ja hukuttaman heitä, ja kaikki mitä ikänä siinä on, ja heidän karjansa miekan terällä.

then shalt thou smite, the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, devoting it to destruction, and all that is therein and the cattle thereof: with the edge of the sword, —

16 Ja kaikki hänen saaliinsa pitää sinun kokooman keskelle sen katua, ja polttaman tulessa, sekä kaupungin että kaikki hänen saaliinsa, Herralle sinun Jumalalles, että se autiona pysyy ijankaikkisesti, ja ei ikänä enään pidä rakettaman.

and all the spoil thereof, shalt thou gather together into the midst of the broadway thereof, and shalt consume with fire the city and all the spoil thereof, every whit, unto Yahweh thy God, —and it shall be a heap unto times age-abiding, it shall be built no more.

17 Ja älä mitään sinun käsiis jätä siitä kirotusta, että Herra kääntyis vihansa julmuudesta, ja antais sinulle laupiuden, ja armahtais sinun päälles, ja enentäis sinun, niinkuin hän vannoi sinun isilles,

So shall there not cleave to thy hand aught of the devoted thing, —that Yahweh may turn away, from the glow of his anger and grant thee compassion and have compassion upon thee and multiply thee, as he sware unto thy fathers;

18 Että sinä Herran sinun Jumalas äänelle kuuliainen ollut olet, ja pitänyt kaikki hänen käskynsä, jotka minä sinulle tänäpänä käsken, oikein tehdäkses Herran sinun Jumalas silmäin edessä.

so long as thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Yahweh thy God, to keep all his commandments, which I am commanding thee to-day, —to do what is right in the eyes of Yahweh thy God.
