Danielin 6
1 Ja Darius näki sen hyväksi panna koko valtakuntaan sata ja kaksikymmentä maanvanhinta.
It pleased Darius to set ouer the kingdome an hundreth and twentie gouernours, which should be ouer the whole kingdome,
2 Näiden päälle pani hän kolme päämiestä, joista Daniel yksi oli, joille maanvanhimmat piti luvun tekemän, ettei kuningas kärsisi vahinkoa.
And ouer these, three rulers (of whome Daniel was one) that the gouernours might giue accompts vnto them, and the King should haue no domage.
3 Mutta Daniel voitti kaikki päämiehet ja maanvanhimmat, sillä hänessä oli korkiampi henki. Sentähden ajatteli kuningas pannaksensa hänet koko valtakunnan päälle.
Now this Daniel was preferred aboue the rulers and gouernours, because the spirit was excellent in him, and the King thought to set him ouer the whole realme.
4 Jonka tähden päämiehet ja maanvanhimmat etsivät syytä Danielia vastaan valtakunnan puolesta, vaan ei he taitaneet yhtään syytä eikä rikosta löytää, sillä hän oli uskollinen, ettei hänessä mitään vikaa eikä rikosta löytää taidettu.
Wherefore the rulers and gouernours sought an occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdome: but they could finde none occasion nor fault: for he was so faithfull that there was no blame nor fault found in him.
5 Niin sanoivat ne miehet: Emme löydä yhtään syytä tämän Danielin kanssa, ellemme löydä hänen Jumalansa palveluksessa.
Then sayd these men, We shall not finde an occasion against this Daniel, except we finde it against him concerning the Law of his God.
6 Silloin tulivat päämiehet ja maanvanhimmat joukoittain kuninkaan eteen ja sanoivat hänelle näin: Kuningas Darius eläköön kauvan!
Therefore the rulers and these gouernours went together to the King, and sayde thus vnto him, King Darius, liue for euer.
7 Valtakunnan päämiehet, herrat, maanvanhimmat, neuvonantajat ja valtamiehet ovat ajatelleet, että kuninkaallinen käsky annettaisiin ja ankara kielto, että jos joku kolmenakymmenenä päivänä joltakulta jumalalta eli ihmiseltä, paitsi sinulta, kuningas, ainoasti jotakin anoo, pitää jalopeurain luolaan heitettämän.
All the rulers of thy kingdome, the officers and gouernours, the counsellers, and dukes haue consulted together to make a decree for the King and to establish a statute, that whosoeuer shall aske a petition of any god or man for thirtie dayes saue of thee, O King, he shalbe cast into the denne of lyons.
8 Sentähden, herra kuningas, vahvista se käsky ja kirjoita alle, ettei sitä jälleen muutettaisi, Mediläisten ja Persian oikeuden jälkeen, jota ei kenkään rikkoa tohdi.
Nowe, O King, confirme the decree, and seale the writing, that it be not changed according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
9 Niin kirjoitti kuningas Darius sen kirjoituksen ja käskyn alle.
Wherefore King Darius sealed the writing and the decree.
10 Kuin Daniel sai tietää kirjoitetuksi sen käskyn alle, meni hän ylös huoneesensa, ja hänen suvihuoneensa akkunat olivat avoimet Jerusalemia päin, ja lankesi kolme kertaa päivässä polvillensa; rukoili, kiitti ja ylisti Jumalaansa, niinkuin hänen tapansa oli ennenkin tehdä.
Now when Daniel vnderstood that he had sealed the writing, hee went into his house, and his window being open in his chamber toward Ierusalem, he kneeled vpon his knees three times a day, and prayed and praysed his God, as he did aforetime.
11 Silloin tulivat ne miehet joukoittain ja löysivät Danielin rukoilevan ja avuksensa huutavan Jumalaansa.
Then these men assembled, and founde Daniel praying, and making supplication vnto his God.
12 Niin he astuivat edes ja puhuivat kuninkaan kanssa siitä kuninkaallisesta käskystä ja sanoivat: Etkös kirjoittanut käskyn alle, että jos joku ihminen kolmenakymmenenä päivänä jotakin anova olis joltakulta jumalalta eli ihmiseltä, paitsi sinulta ainoastansa, kuningas, se pitää jalopeurain luolaan heitettämän? Kuningas vastasi ja sanoi: Se on tosi, ja Mediläisten ja Persialaisten oikeutta ei pidä kenenkään rikkoman.
So they came and, spake vnto the King concerning the Kings decree, Hast thou not sealed the decree, that euery man that shall make a request to any god or man within thirtie dayes, saue to thee, O King, shall be cast into the denne of lyons? The King answered, and sayd, The thing is true, according to the Lawe of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
13 He vastasivat ja sanoivat kuninkaalle: Daniel, yksi Juudalaisista vangeista, ei tottele sinua, herra kuningas, eikä sinun käskyäs, jonka allekirjoittanut olet; sillä hän rukoilee kolmasti päivässä.
Then answered they, and sayd vnto the King, This Daniel which is of the children of the captiuitie of Iudah, regardeth not thee, O King, nor the decree, that thou hast sealed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
14 Kuin Kuningas sen kuuli, tuli hän sangen murheelliseksi ja ahkeroitsi suuresti, että hän Danielin vapahtais; ja vaivasi itsiänsä auringon laskemaan asti, että hän hänet pelastais.
When the King heard these wordes, hee was sore displeased with himselfe, and set his heart on Daniel, to deliuer him: and he laboured till the sunne went downe, to deliuer him.
15 Vaan ne miehet tulivat joukoittain kuninkaan tykö ja sanoivat hänelle: Tiedä, herra kuningas, että Mediläisten ja Persialaisten oikeus on, että kaikki kiellot ja käskyt, joita kuningas päättänyt on, pitää muuttumattomat oleman.
Then these men assembled vnto the King, and sayde vnto ye King, Vnderstand, O King, that the lawe of the Medes and Persians is, that no decree nor statute which the King confirmeth, may be altered.
16 Silloin kuningas käski, ja he toivat Danielin edes ja heittivät hänet jalopeurain luolaan. Mutta kuningas puhui ja sanoi Danielille: Sinun Jumalas, jotas lakkaamata palvelet, auttakoon Sinua!
Then the King commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the denne of lyons: now the King spake, and said vnto Daniel, Thy God, whome thou alway seruest, euen he will deliuer thee.
17 Ja he toivat kiven ja panivat luolan ovelle: Sen painoi kuningas omalla sinetillänsä ja voimallistensa sinetillä, ettei kuninkaan tahto muutettaisi Danielia vastaan.
And a stone was brought, and layed vpon the mouth of the denne, and the King sealed it with his owne signet, and with the signet of his princes, that the purpose might not be changed, concerning Daniel.
18 Ja kuningas meni linnaansa ja kulutti yön syömättä ja ei antanut mitään huvitusta tuoda eteensä, eikä myös yhtään unta saanut.
Then the King went vnto his palace, and remained fasting, neither were the instruments of musike brought before him, and his sleepe went from him.
19 Aamulla varhain päivän koittaissa nousi kuningas ylös ja meni kiiruusti jalopeurain luolan tykö.
Then the King arose early in the morning, and went in all haste vnto the denne of lyons.
20 Ja kuin hän luolan tykö lähestyi, huusi hän Danielia surkialla äänellä ja kuningas puhui ja sanoi Danielille: Daniel, sinä elävän Jumalan palvelia, onko Jumalas, jotas ilman lakkaamata palvelet, voinut sinut jalopeuroilta pelastaa?
And when he came to the denne, he cryed with a lamentable voyce vnto Daniel: and the King spake, and saide to Daniel, O Daniel, the seruant of ye liuing God, is not thy God (whom thou alway seruest) able to deliuer thee from the lyons?
21 Niin Daniel puhui kuninkaan kanssa sanoen: Kuningas eläköön kauvan!
Then saide Daniel vnto the King, O King, liue for euer.
22 Minun Jumalani on lähettänyt enkelinsä, joka jalopeurain kidat on pitänyt kiinni, ettei he minulle mitään pahaa tehneet ole, sillä minä olen hänen edessänsä viattomaksi löydetty. En myös ole minä sinua vastaan, herra kuningas, mitään tehnyt.
My God hath sent his Angel and hath shut the lyons mouthes, that they haue not hurt mee: for my iustice was founde out before him: and vnto thee, O King, I haue done no hurt.
23 Niin kuningas ihastui siitä suuresti, ja käski Danielin luolasta ylös ottaa. Ja he ottivat Danielin ylös luolasta, ja ei hänessä yhtään haavaa löydetty, sillä hän oli turvannut Jumalaansa.
Then was the King exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel out of the denne: so Daniel was brought out of the denne, and no maner of hurt was found vpon him, because he beleeued in his God.
24 Silloin käski kuningas; ja ne miehet tuotiin edes, jotka olivat kantaneet Danielin päälle, ja jalopeurain luolaan heitettiin lapsinensa ja vaimoinensa. Ja ennenkuin he luolan pohjaan tulivat, tarttuivat heihin jalopeurat ja murensivat heidän luunsakin.
And by the commandement of the King these me which had accused Daniel, were brought, and were cast into the denne of lions, euen they, their children, and their wiues: and the lyons had the mastry of them, and brake all their bones a pieces, or euer they came at the groud of the denne.
25 Silloin antoi kuningas Darius kirjoittaa kaikille kansoille, sukukunnille ja kielille, jotka asuvat kaikessa maassa: Teille olkoon paljon rauhaa!
Afterwarde King Darius wrote, Vnto all people, nations and languages, that dwel in all the world: Peace be multiplied vnto you.
26 Se käsky on minulta asetettu, että kaikessa minun kuninkaan valtakunnassani Danielin Jumalaa peljättämän ja vavistaman pitää, sillä hän on elävä Jumala, joka ijankaikkisesti pysyy, ja hänen valtakuntansa on katoomatoin, ja hänen voimansa loppumatoin.
I make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdome, men tremble and feare before the God of Daniel: for he is the liuing God, and remayneth for euer: and his kingdome shall not perish, and his dominion shalbe euerlasting.
27 Hän on vapahtaja ja hädässä auttaja, ja hän tekee tunnustähtiä ja ihmeitä sekä taivaassa että maan päällä. Hän on Danielin jalopeurain käsistä pelastanut.
Hee rescueth and deliuereth, and hee worketh signes and wonders in heauen and in earth, who hath deliuered Daniel from the power of the lyons.
28 Ja Daniel tuli voimalliseksi Dariuksen valtakunnassa ja Koreksen Persialaisen valtakunnassa.
So this Daniel prospered in the reigne of Darius and in the reigne of Cyrus of Persia.
