1 Jotam oli viiden ajastaikainen kolmattakymmentä tulessansa kuninkaaksi, ja hallitsi kuusitoistakymmentä ajastaikaa Jerusalemissa: hänen äitinsä nimi oli Jerusa Zadokin tytär.
twenty-five years old, was Jotham when he began to reign, and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Jerushah, daughter of Zadok.
2 Ja hän teki mitä Herralle oli kelvollinen, kaiketi niinkuin hänen isänsä Ussia tehnyt oli, paitsi sitä, ettei hän käynyt Herran templissä, ja kansa turmeli vielä itsensä.
And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Uzziah his father had done, only he entered not into the temple of Yahweh, —though still were the people acting corruptly.
3 Hän rakensi ylisen portin Herran huoneesen, ja Ophelin muuria hän paljon rakensi.
He, built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh, -and, on the wall of Ophel, built he extensively.
4 Ja hän rakensi kaupungit Juudan vuorelle, ja metsiin rakensi hän linnat ja tornit.
Cities also, built he, in the hill country of Judah, —and, in the thick woods, built he fortresses and towers.
5 Ja hän soti Ammonin lasten kuninkaan kanssa, ja voitti heidät, niin että Ammonin lapset antoivat sinä vuonna hänelle sata leiviskää hopiaa, kymmenentuhatta koria nisuja ja kymmenentuhatta koria ohria. Niin paljon antoivat myös Ammonin lapset hänelle toisena ja kolmantena vuonna.
He, also made war against the king of the sons of Ammon, and prevailed against them, and the sons of Ammon gave him, during that year, a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and, of barley, ten thousand, —this, did the sons of Ammon render him, both in the second year, and the third.
6 Näin tuli Jotam voimalliseksi; sillä hän toimitti tiensä oikein Herran Jumalan edessä.
So Jotham strengthened himself, —for he fixed his ways before Yahweh his God.
7 Mitä enempää Jotamista sanomista on, ja kaikista hänen sodistansa ja teistänsä: katso, ne ovat kirjoitetut Israelin ja Juudan kuningasten kirjassa.
But, the rest of the story of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo! there they are written in the book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
8 Viidenkolmattakymmenen vuoden vanha oli hän tulessansa kuninkaaksi, ja hallitsi kuusitoistakymmentä vuotta Jerusalemissa.
Twenty-five years old, was he when he began to reign, —and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem.
9 Ja Jotam nukkui isäinsä kanssa, ja he hautasivat hänen Davidin kaupunkiin. Ja hänen poikansa Ahas tuli kuninkaaksi hänen siaansa.
And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him, in the city of David, —and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
