1 Ja Josaphat nukkui isäinsä kanssa ja haudattiin isäinsä tykö Davidin kaupunkiin. Ja hänen poikansa Joram tuli kuninkaaksi hänen siaansa.
And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Joran his son reigned in his stead.
2 Ja hänellä oli veljiä Josaphatin poikia, Asaria, Jehiel, Sakaria, Asaria, Mikael ja Sephatia. Nämät kaikki olivat Josaphatin Israelin kuninkaan pojat.
And he had brothers, the six sons of Josaphat, Azarias, and Jeiel, and Zacharias, and Azarias, and Michael, and Zaphatias: all these [were] the sons of Josaphat king of Juda.
3 Ja heidän isänsä antoi heille monta lahjaa hopiasta, kullasta ja kalliista kappaleista, vahvain Juudan kaupunkein kanssa. Mutta Joramille antoi hän valtakunnan; sillä hän oli esikoinen.
And their father gave them many gifts, silver, and gold, and arms, together with fortified cities in Juda: but he gave the kingdom to Joram, for he [was] the firstborn.
4 Kuin Joram korotettiin isänsä valtakuntaan ja tuli voimalliseksi, tappoi hän kaikki veljensä miekalla ja muutamia Israelin ylimmäisistä.
And Joram entered upon his kingdom, and strengthened himself, and killed all his brothers with the sword, and [some] of the princes of Israel.
5 Ja Joram oli kahden ajastajan vanha neljättäkymmentä tullessansa kuninkaaksi; ja hän hallitsi kahdeksan ajastaikaa Jerusalemissa,
When he was thirty and two years old, Joram succeeded to his kingdom, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
6 Ja hän vaelsi Israelin kuningasten tiellä, niinkuin Ahabin huone teki; sillä Ahabin tytär oli hänen emäntänsä; ja hän teki pahaa Herran edessä.
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Achaab; for a daughter of Achaab was his wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord:
7 Mutta ei Herra tahtonut hukuttaa Davidin huonetta, sen liiton tähden, jonka hän tehnyt oli Davidin kanssa, ja niinkuin hän puhunut oli antaaksensa hänelle ja hänen lapsillensa valkeuden joka aika.
nevertheless the Lord would not utterly destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he made with David, and as he said to him that he would give a light to him and his sons for ever.
8 Hänen aikanansa luopuivat Edomilaiset Juudan vallan alta ja tekivät itsellensä kuninkaan.
In those days Edom revolted from Juda, and they made a king over themselves.
9 Niin Joram meni ylitse ylimmäistensä kanssa, ja kaikki vaunut hänen kanssansa; ja hän valmisti itsensä yöllä ja löi kaikki Edomilaiset ympäristöltänsä, ja myös vaunuin päämiehet.
And Joram went with the princes, and all the cavalry with him: and it came to pass that he arose by night, and struck Edom that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots, and the people fled to their tents.
10 Ja Edomilaiset luopuivat Juudan vallan alta tähän päivään asti; silloin luopui myös Libna hänestä; sillä hän hylkäsi Herran isäinsä Jumalan.
And Edom revolted from Juda until this day. Then Lomna at that time revolted from [under] his hand, because he forsook the Lord God of his fathers.
11 Ja hän teki korkeuksia Juudan vuorilla, ja saatti Jerusalemin asuvaiset huorin tekemään ja vietteli Juudan.
For he built high places in the cities of Juda, and caused the dwellers in Jerusalem to go a-whoring, and led Juda astray.
12 Ja kirjoitus tuli hänelle Elialta prophetalta, joka näin oli: näin sanoo Herra sinun isäs Davidin Jumala: ettes vaeltanut isäs Josaphatin teillä, etkä Aksan Juudan kuninkaan teillä;
And there came to him [a message] in writing from Eliu the prophet, saying, Thus says the Lord God of your father David, Because you have not walked in the way of your father Josaphat, nor in the ways of Asa king of Juda,
13 Mutta vaellat Israelin kuningasten tiellä, ja saatat Juudan ja Jerusalemin asuvaiset huorin tekemään Ahabin huoneen huoruuden jälkeen, ja olet tappanut veljes isäs huoneesta, jotka sinua paremmat olivat;
but have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and have caused Juda and the dwellers in Jerusalem to go a-whoring, as the house of Achaab caused [Israel] to go a-whoring, and you have slain your brethren, the sons of your father, who were better than yourself;
14 Katso, niin Herra lyö sinua kovin ja sinun kansaas, lapsias, emäntiäs ja kaikkea hyvyyttäs.
behold, the Lord shall strike you with a great plague amongst your people, and your sons, and your wives, and all your store:
15 Ja sinun sisällyksissäs pitää oleman monta sairautta, siihenasti että sisällykses sinusta päivä päivältä sairauden tähden käyvät ulos.
and you [shall be afflicted] with a grievous disease, with a disease of the bowels, until your bowels shall fall out day by day with the sickness.
16 Niin Herra herätti Joramia vastaan Philistealaisten ja Arabialaisten hengen, jotka ovat Etiopialaisten tykönä.
So the Lord stirred up the Philistines against Joram, and the Arabians, and those who bordered on the Aethiopians:
17 Ja he menivät ylös Juudaan, ja hävittivät sen ja veivät pois kaiken kalun, joka kuninkaan huoneessa oli, niin myös hänen poikansa ja emäntänsä; niin ettei hänelle yhtään poikaa jäänyt, paitsi Joahasta nuorinta poikaansa.
and they went up against Juda, and prevailed against them, and took away all the store which they found in the house of the king, and his sons, and his daughters; and there was no son left to him but Ochozias the youngest of his sons.
18 Ja kaiken sen jälkeen rankaisi Herra häntä hänen sisällyksissänsä senkaltaisella taudilla, jota ei taidettu parantaa.
And after all these things the Lord struck him in the bowels with an incurable disease.
19 Ja se tapahtui päivä päivältä, siihenasti kuin kahden vuoden aika kulunut oli, että hänen sisällyksensä kävivät ulos hänestä, hänen tautinsa kanssa; ja hän kuoli pahoista taudeista. Ja he ei tehneet yhtään suitsutusta hänelle, niin kuin he olivat tehneet hänen esi-isillensä.
And it continued from day to day: and when the time of the days came [to] two years, his bowels fell out with the disease, and he died by a grievous distemper: and his people performed no funeral, like the funeral of his fathers.
20 Hän oli kahden ajastajan vanha neljättäkymmentä tullessansa kuninkaaksi, ja hallitsi kahdeksan ajastaikaa Jerusalemissa, ja vaelsi kelvottomasti; ja he hautasivat hänen Davidin kaupunkiin, mutta ei kuningasten hautain sekaan.
He was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he departed without honour, and was buried in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
