1 Ja kuin Salomo oli rakentanut Herran huoneen ja kuninkaan huoneen, ja kaikki mitä hänen sydämensä anoi ja halusi tehdäksensä,
And it came to pass, when Solomon had made an end of building the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king, and everything that Solomon desired, which he was pleased to make,
2 Ilmaantui Herra Salomolle toisen kerran, niinkuin hän oli hänelle ilmaantunut Gibeonissa.
then appeared Yahweh unto Solomon, a second time, —as he appeared unto him, in Gibeon.
3 Ja Herra sanoi hänelle: Minä olen kuullut sinun rukoukses ja anomises, joita olet minun edessäni anonut, ja olen pyhittänyt tämän huoneen, jonkas rakentanut olet, pannakseni siihen minun nimeni ijankaikkisesti, ja minun silmäni ja sydämeni ovat alati siinä.
And Yahweh said unto him—I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, wherewith thou hast made supplication before me, I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my Name there unto times age-abiding, —and mine eyes and my heart shall be there, continually:
4 Ja jos sinä vallat minun edessäni, niinkuin sinun isäs David vaeltanut on, sydämen yksinkertaisuudessa ja vakuudessa, niin ettäs teet kaikki, mitä minä sinulle käskenyt olen, ja pidät minun säätyni ja oikeuteni;
As for thee, therefore, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, with a whole heart and with uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, —and, my statutes and my regulations, wilt keep,
5 Niin minä vahvistan sinun valtakuntas istuimen Israelin ylitse ijankaikkisesti, niinkuin minä sinun isäs Davidin kanssa puhunut olen, sanoen: ei sinulta pidä otettaman pois mies Israelin istuimelta.
then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel, unto times age-abiding, —as I promised unto David thy father, saying, There shall not be cut off to thee a man, from off the throne of Israel.
6 Mutta jos te käännätte teitänne peräti pois minusta, te ja teidän lapsenne, ja ette pidä minun käskyjäni ja säätyjäni, jotka minä olen pannut teidän eteenne, ja menette ja palvelette vieraita jumalia ja rukoilette niitä;
If ye, turn back, ye or your sons, from following me, and keep not my commandments, my statutes, which I have set before you, —but depart and serve other gods, and bow yourselves down to them,
7 Niin minä hävitän Israelin siitä maasta, jonka minä heille antanut olen: ja huoneen, jonka minä nimelleni pyhittänyt olen, heitän minä minun kasvoni edestä pois. Ja Israel pitää oleman sananlaskuksi ja jutuksi kaikissa kansoissa.
then will I cut off Israel, from the face of the soil, which I have given unto them, and, the house which I have hallowed for my Name, will I suffer to be carried away from before me, —and Israel shall become a byword and a mockery, among all the peoples;
8 Ja vaikka tämä huone on kaikkein korkein, niin kuitenkin kaikkein, jotka siitä käyvät ohitse, pitää hämmästymän ja viheltämän, sanoen: miksi Herra näin teki tälle maalle ja tälle huoneelle?
and, this house which had been renowned, shall be desolate, every one that passeth by it, shall be astonished and shall whistle, —and men shall say—For what cause, hath Yahweh done, thus, unto this land, and unto this house?
9 Silloin vastataan: että he Herran Jumalansa hylkäsivät, joka heidän isänsä Egyptin maalta johdatti ulos, ja seurasivat muita jumalia ja kumarsivat niitä ja palvelivat niitä; sentähden on Herra kaiken tämän pahan antanut tulla heidän päällensä.
And men will answer—Because they forsook Yahweh their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold of other gods, and bowed themselves down to them, and served them, for this cause, hath Yahweh brought in upon them all this ruin.
10 Kuin kaksikymmentä ajastaikaa kulunut oli, joina Salomo ne kaksi huonetta rakensi, Herran huoneen ja kuninkaan huoneen,
And it came to pass, at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, —the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king;
11 Joihin Hiram Tyron kuningas antoi Salomolle sedripuita, honkia ja kultaa, kaiken hänen tahtonsa jälkeen; niin kuningas Salomo antoi Hiramille kaksikymmentä kaupunkia Galilean maassa.
Hiram king of Tyre having supplied Solomon with timber of cedar, and with timber of fir, and with gold, according to all his desire, that, then, King Solomon gave unto Hiram twenty cities, in the land of Galilee.
12 Ja Hiram matkusti Tyrosta katsomaan kaupungeita, jotka Salomo hänelle antanut oli; ja ei ne hänelle kelvanneet.
And Hiram came out from Tyre to view the cities which, Solomon, had given him, —and they were not pleasing in his eyes.
13 Ja sanoi: mitkä nämä kaupungit ovat, minun veljeni, jotkas minulle antanut olet? Ja hän kutsui ne Kabulin maaksi tähän päivään asti.
So he said—What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them, Unfruitful Land, [as they are called] unto this day.
14 Ja Hiram oli lähettänyt kuninkaalle sata ja kaksikymmentä sentneriä kultaa.
Now Hiram had sent to the king, —a hundred and twenty talents of gold.
15 Ja tämä on luku verosta, jonka kuningas Salomo kantoi rakentaaksensa Herran huonetta, ja omaa huonettansa, ja Milloa, ja Jerusalemin muuria, ja Hatsoria, ja Megiddoa ja Gaseria.
Now, the following, is an account of the tax which King Solomon raised, for building the house of Yahweh and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, —and Hazor and Megiddo, and Gezer.
16 Sillä Pharao Egyptin kuningas oli mennyt ja voittanut Gaserin, ja polttanut sen tulella, ja lyönyt Kanaanealaiset kuoliaaksi, jotka kaupungissa asuivat, ja oli antanut sen tyttärellensä Salomon emännälle lahjaksi.
Pharaoh king of Egypt, had gone up and captured Gezer, and burned it with fire, the Canaanites also who were dwelling in the city, had he slain, —and had given it as a dowry, to his daughter, wife of Solomon.
17 Niin Salomo rakensi Gaserin ja alamaisen BetHoronin,
So then Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon, the nether,
18 Ja Baalatin ja Tadmorin, korvessa maalla,
and Baalath and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land;
19 Ja kaikki tavarakaupungit, jotka Salomolla olivat, ja kaikki vaunukaupungit, ja ratsasmiesten kaupungit, ja mitä Salomo halusi ja tahtoi rakentaa Jerusalemissa ja Libanonissa, ja koko maassa, joka hänen vallassansa oli.
also all the store cities, which Solomon had, and the cities for chariots, and the cities for horsemen, —and the desire of Solomon that he was pleased to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land that he ruled over.
20 Kaiken jääneen kansan Amorealaisista, Hetiläisistä, Pheresiläisistä, Heviläisistä ja Jebusilaisista, jotka ei olleet Israelin lapsia:
All the people that were left, of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, who were, not of the sons of Israel;
21 Heidän lapsensa, jotka he jättivät heistänsä maahan, joita Israelin lapset ei taitaneet hävittää; ne teki Salomo verolliseksi tähän päivään asti.
their sons, who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel were not able to devote to destruction, Solomon levied them for a toiling labour-band [which remaineth] unto this day.
22 Mutta Israelin lapsista ei Salomo tehnyt yhtään orjaksi; vaan ne olivat sotamiehet, ja hänen palveliansa, ja päämiehensä, ja esimiehensä, ja hänen vaunuinsa ja ratsasmiestensä päämiehet.
But, of the sons of Israel, Solomon devoted none to bond-service, —but, they, were men of war, and his servants, and his generals, and his heroes, and captains of his chariots, and his horsemen.
23 Ja virkamiesten päämiehiä, jotka olivat Salomon työn päällä, oli viisisataa ja viisikymmentä, jotka kansaa hallitsivat ja työn toimittivat.
These, were the chiefs of the officers, who were over the work, for Solomon, five hundred and fifty, —who ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
24 Mutta Pharaon tytär meni ylös Davidin kaupungista omaan huoneesensa, jonka (Salomo) hänelle rakentanut oli. Silloin rakensi hän myös Millon.
Scarcely had Pharaoh’s daughter come up out of the city of David, into her own house, which he had built for her, when he built Millo.
25 Ja Salomo uhrasi kolmasti vuodessa polttouhria ja kiitosuhria alttarilla, jonka hän Herralle rakentanut oli, ja suitsutti sen päällä Herran edessä; ja niin huone päätettiin.
And Solomon used to offer, three times a year, ascending-sacrifices and peace-offerings, upon the altar which he had built unto Yahweh, and to offer incense at the altar which was before Yahweh, —thus Solomon gave completeness unto the house.
26 Ja kuningas Salomo teki myös laivan EtseonGeberissä, joka liki Elotia on, Punaisen meren reunan tykönä Edomilaisten maalla.
A fleet also, did King Solomon build in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.
27 Ja Hiram lähetti palveliansa laivaan, jotka olivat jalot haaksimiehet ja mereen hyvin harjaantuneet, Salomon palveliain kanssa;
And Hiram sent in the fleet his servants, seamen, having knowledge of the sea, —with the servants of Solomon;
28 Ja he tulivat Ophiriin ja veivät sieltä neljäsataa ja kaksikymmentä leiviskää kultaa; ja he veivät sen kuningas Salomolle.
and they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence, gold, four hundred and twenty talents, —and brought it to King Solomon.
